  • Other Info Lois was a rescue dog and had only been with my parents for one day when a cyclist got tangled in her extendable lead last night and Lois shlipped her collar with tag on. We have looked for her all night but we can't see her and we are so fraught for her, she is nervous already as she hasn't had the best start as she was flown in from Romania as a rescue dog. She didn't really know her name yet, although that was her original name.

Jayne, I am afraid Lois IS missing again
DW is aware and thinks to know where to look. People searched all night until it got too dark and dangerous neat the railway lines. They are out now on the tracks where she headed last time. Lois was spooked by a bike and escaped out of her harness. She is wearing her tagged collar.
I have advised owners to make British Rail aware in case they can slow the trains.

Yes if missing we will make out a new page ....do let us know.
Ellie
Have also seen this, I have messaged Nottingham City Strays and will get in touch with owners again in the morning. Hopefully Lois will be found again by then but feel it's better that her page is in Lost until we know all the details. If she is still missing it might be best to make out a new DogLost page as it will come up by default on fb as reunited.
Please stay safe Lois until someone gets to you, hopefully have already
Happiness yorkie lover xxx
Have sent admin an email asking that they make contact with owner incase alerts need sending out again and she will need to go into lost section again xxxxx

So pleased to see she is back home, glad for you all that she is well. I'll take down the posters I put up, either tonight or at the weekend.
Dorothy
Thank you for everyone's help. It's been a horrible couple of weeks. We have been so lucky to get her back. We will look after her now she's been through so much. She is a little bit thin but sat near the radiator getting nice and warm. Good luck to all those other lost dogs to find their homes. xxx
Jo
I am sooooo pleased! she has been on my mind every day! and every walk I've been on I've kept my eyes scanning around for her. What a relief..will take down any posters I see x x x

I've just seen on "Nottingham City stray dogs" Facebook page that Lois has been found and reunited with her owner? Love a happy ending :-)

Hi Chris. No sightings as yet. We thought today we may have a sighting with it being dry and busier out there. We are going to poster further a field this week as well in case she's moved further than we think.
Thank you for your help and support.

sorry still no sightings. I put a couple of posters up - another on Wollaton Road where it meets a sideroad, another the other side of Martin's Pond to the one you've put up - on Lambourne Drive; I only had cellotape in the car to attach to damp wooden post, so I'll try and call to that one with a drawing pin or 2 on my way to or from work in the week. Gave out a 2 or 3 leaflets to individuals walking dogs if they'd not seen any of the posters already, and asked them to talk to others and spread the word. It is such a huge area she's gone missing in, but well populated, so hopefully you'll get a sighting phoned in to you before too long.
Chris
Hi Dorothy, sounds like you've done lots in a short time; sorry there's no sightings yet. I'll try and do some postering at the weekend. Did you speak to Wollaton Park Wardens - I know they are not always helpful where dogs are concerned, but ... Is there a link to your FB page for her? I'll share that page on FB if so. Best of luck. At least the weather is reasonably warm right now.

Dorothy
Hi Chris thank you for your efforts
We have put posters up at bramcote park and outside and inside wollaton park we have regisered her on our face book page which is being shared out, left posters in the vets surrrouding the area. we have called all the numbers given to us and are posting out posters to some of the further a field places. The RSPCA have had one today. We spoke to the dog warden yesterday in Wollaton and they have poster within their van and said they already knew about her which is great. We have been out every day and night searching wollaton park, bramcote park and woods, martins pond and the woods surroudning this. My children go to the local school and have already given out posters to their friends parents etc.the local pet stores also have information We are going out tomorrow with more posters.
Lois ran down the main road (on the pavement) heading towards the entrance to wollaton park and Mr Mans restaurant gates. My father has access to the wollaton park gardens that are locked to the public tomorrow so he will be searhing round there also. It was around 7pm that she got spooked so we couldnt see where headed fully. Thank you again for all your support and efforts
Chris
I drove back into work this afternoon via Cambridge and Harrow Roads - I didn't see a single poster up in that area. I stopped to speak to two women walking along Harrow Road with their dog and gave them a couple of posters. They were helpful and said they would help spread the word via Facebook. The school was coming out but I didn't have time to stop to poster myself; it would be well worth you and your parents going on your feet around the area she first went missing, putting up posters - you could cellotape some to the bins at the entrance off Harrow to Wollaton Park, and on lamp posts, for example - and would be worth giving them out at school time - around 3pm to 3.30pm: there were a number of parents around to pick up their children, with dogs - those people would be worth giving out posters to, and speaking to asking them to spread the word locally.

Have you contacted City and Broxtowe dog wardens? the area borders both.
It would also be helpful to know what route was taken to/from Cambridge road on the walk?Last edited: 2015-01-09 03:30:04 by Chris

Perhaps Lois might respond to someone from the rescue as she's new to you.As there been any sightings today. Could somebody set up a Facebook page for Lois and get the word out. Hope you start getting sightings.Xxx
Jo
I hve put posters up at Bramcote Park: the entrance, beginning of woods & centre of bottom path as I know lots of people from Wollaton take their dog there.
Chris
I put her on East Mids DogLost Facebook page yesterday - https://www.facebook.com/groups/270158526343032/?fref=ts - would be worth trying to comment/update on there too, and raise some support for help postering and searching and spreading the word by sharing
Chris
I see you were on Cambridge Rd when she was lost - the Bluecoat school is just down the road so worth leaving a pile of posters with them if they will take them. And putting a poster on one of the poles near the entrance to Wollaton Park on Harrow Rd. Did you (?your parents) walk from home with her in that area. If so it is worth walking from where she went missing, back home for scenting purposes. Chris
I drove around the perimeter of Wollaton Park on my way home last night, so would have been about 12.30 a.m. Some places to gave out posters that I went to when Holly was missing are: the Wollaton Park Golf Club premises - they are up the main entrance in off the ring road. The Wheelhouse Pub, the Admiral Rodney - they both helpfully took posters previously. Also the Toby Carvery on the roundabout where Derby Rd and Wollaton Rd meet - they wouldn't take one in the bar there, but one of the waitresses said she'd put on in their staff/kitchen area. Ask for posters to go up on the notice boards at the Wollaton Park gates too - there are several I think, but there is definitely one at the outer entrance on Parkside. I made a note of everywhere I had left or put up a poster, so I didn't duplicate and so when the dog was found I could take them down or collect them, so hopefully means people are more willing to take them again. Schools are also useful places to ask to leave posters, as school children disperse throughout the area.Last edited: 2015-01-08 11:23:04 by Chris
Dorothy
Thank you all so much. I wasn't aware of such a community as this and it is lovely to now be part of it - albeit for not the best reason. We are out today around wollaton and a little further to put posters up and we searched again yesterday and last night. We will keep going.
You are right lois's picture is still on the babbington website that is where we got her from. We do hope that because she only had little legs she won't get far and although only a day before the cyclist incident she did start to get used to us and may recognise us again - we hope!. Thank you again knowing we have help is such a relief. I hope today lots of dogs are found
Debbie
Agree with Chis - we passed out and put up nearly 400 posters to help find Jimmy - we swamped the area then sightings started coming in. Fingers crossed Lois is found soon, she looks adorable. With any luck she wont get as far as Jimmy did being a smaller dog. Helen has already shared with our page but will share with all our friends at work at QMC too (close to Wollaton). Unfortunately we are at work but will try and get over at weekend if we can to help search. Debbie x

Sorry just noticed you already state the rescue, shame I thought we had found her,
Chris
Lots of posters in the area, and letting postmen, binmen, vets, local businesses, pubs, shops, etc have posters, usually works the best to get sightings. I will try and do some postering but probably won't be able to before the weekend; I'll print some off anyhow and have some A4 plastic wallets to put them in.

Hope she is found soon. Shared to Find Jimmy Nottinghamshire page as he had a large amount of followers and shared on Facebook Xxx

There's a dog called Lois which is the same dog in Babbington Dog Rescue which says she came from the pound. Is this the rescue you got her from and her original posting before you collected her or has she been placed there since you lost her? Please check.
Jo
Hi Dorothy it's Jo, have you had any sightings yet? Let me know if you want me to join you tonight to look, do the gates for Wollaton park shut at night or do we have free roam? I popped into the vets around the corner at lunch time and no one had been in to report a sighting, they said you are more than welcome to put a poster in their window. I had a quick look around Mr Manns car park too but nothing. Which direction did she go?
Dorothy
Thank you Chris I really appreciate your efforts. We feel so guilty as we only rescued her yesterday but a cyclist was so close to us and got tangled in her extended lead and she slipped her colar which had a disc on it. We have been driving around all day just hoping and we won't give up. Thank you so much for helping.
Chris
Sorry to see she's missing; I guess Wollaton Park may be somewhere she might hide out: have the rangers there been notified and given posters? The deer will be in calf I think so they will be anxious to spot her if she's around there. I'll try and drive around that way on my way back from work which is late at night generally. It's the same area where lurcher Holly went missing January 2013 - she was hiding out in Wollaton Park and eventually caught using a specialist trapper
