- This is fantastic! What a relief for owners. And what good, decent people who adopted her. They did the right thing (not everyone does) so we know they are great folk for their own new dog, wherever she is! Well done to the DW who intervened to help, again, not every DW would. Good on you DW! Well done to all involved (and I wonder if the police have found our little disappearing act? Maybe she genuinely lost Scarlett and panicked, but why give false details in the first place? All a bit of a mystery, but worry no more!) We have the outcome they all so deserved. And well done Shelagh for assisting in all this. Welcome home sweet litte Scarlett! xxx

- Scarlett is being picked up by her proper owners tomorrow at 1pm. So happy for them they tried so hard to find little Scarlett. Thank you to the people who adopted her and have looked after her for last few weeks, and are so kindly handing her back. I hope you find a sweet little dog to give a home too.

- Thanks, will check in again tomorrow. What a terrible situation all round for the owner. Really hope Scarlett ends up wherever is best for her after all this upheaval.....

- The warden could not speak to new owners yesterday as arranged,so have to wait till tomorrow for news

- The date she was actually with DW was 14th December. This page stated "lost on 6th January" because the pet sitter called Dog Lost saying her dog had escaped on 6th January. We can only ponder the reasons why. Owner came back from holiday to find her gone and put Scarlett on DogLost (that is the other duplicate page). So, all we can establish is that Scarlett went missing, or whatever happened, at the same time owner left to visit family abroad, completely unaware that Scarlett had already disappeared and with the DW. We don't know anything more as yet. :-(
- 2015-01-17 13:21 lesleyjane
- Any further news please?

- Do hope the new owner does return her, maybe a little premature to say they will?

Scarlet has been found! with a pic of a fb message....saying found wandering streets....rehomed.....but hopefully being returned by new owners. - 2015-01-16 18:00 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Oh gosh! What an awful mess! This is going to be so hard all round. If they can prove a crime was committed then as Scarlett is "property" they should, in that respect, be able to have her returned. Like with a car, if you by a car that was stolen, you lose out and the car goes back to original owner. However..... once a dog has been re-homed, the law may be on the new owner's side. I do not know enough to say either way, but after serving seven days in a pound, dogs can get re-homed. So, what now? I would hope that the right thing happens especially in the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. They employed the services of a pet sitting company so it was not their fault they lost their pet. Problem is, new owners are innocent victims of this dreadful situation and will need to be strong enough to do the right thing. It will hurt but old owners must be hurting more. I won't move Scarlett into the blue yet.

- This is just an awful situation I do hope the new owners give her back xx surly police would need to intervene here as she was reported stolen and it was done through a company for pet sitting x
- 2015-01-16 17:30 Shelagh
- Scarlett located. Scarlett was picked up by w/forest on 14 December. Apparently an attempt was made to locate owners but they were out of country. Scarlett has been rehomed. The warden told owners he would contact new owners and explain what had happened. Bit miffed as obviously had spoke to warden in depths about Scarlett, but to be fair I did say missing since 6 January. Also searched Adm but obviously not far back enough.

- I have double and triple checked all jack russells that are here at Battersea, i can see there is one that looks a bit like her at a glance but the markings are different on clsoer inspection and that particular dog was given in by owner who has had since pup. You do have a report here with us at Battersea so we will contact you if we hear any news. Fingers crossed.

- If you cannot see the page, type "pet sitter disappears" and serach. Here is the gist of it I have adapated to fit: "A family is devastated after paying a pet sitter to look after their dog while they were abroad visiting family over Xmas, disappeared after she told them their dog had gone missing. They did not want to place their beloved pet in a kennel so they found a pet sitter for Scarlet through website Holidog. They hired a woman called Rose, who the three weeks they were away. However, when they returned, they were told by the sitter the dog had gone missing from her back garden. When they attempted to get in touch with her for further details, the phone number did not work. They then discovered the address she had provided was a Co-op store. Family has been left in shock. “It is so surreal. This person we met could not even really exist. “She seemed like a normal person who really loved dogs – now we are left in this situation.” The police and Holidog have been notified. Holidog said the company has been in constant contact with the owners and notified the police. He said: "As soon as we found out we contacted the pet-sitter. At first she told us she had lost the dog but then we could not reach her after that."We are offering the owners a refund and we are doing all we can to help."We do carry out checks on our pet-sitters so we are working on tracking the pet-sitter down."

- Well done, folks! I am going to change the description of her "escape" to the correct one of "stolen" as we have a crime number, but we don't want person who may have unwittingly bought her to be spooked so I adjust it a little. But we do need her plight well publicised as they may realise, if she is with someone new, and return her. Well done for all that postering Shelagh. Thank you. x

- Thanks me n my girl. I saw that little one. Scarlett could be anywhere now and could of been missing from three weeks ago when left with pet-sitter.We really don't know very much at moment so are working a double edge to it. We are still postering including other boroughs, and also searching selling sites etc. A media campaign has been launched by owners and an article will appear in local guardian next week. The on line copy is there to see if anybody wants to read it. I have sent copy to Kimmybear

- Met with scarletts owner. We were unable. to approach neighbors as we do not have an actual address for where missing. Asked shopkeepers postmen etc. Put up a lot more posters around Brandon road, wood street, church hill etc. Have advised owner to mount a media campaign in case Scarlett is stolen. Also they are extending their posters to green man and Stratford. Posters are up in high ams park and up to chingford new road round about. Also oak hill up to woodford new road.

- Possible sighting of Scarlett, running fast past buck walk wood street heading toward wood street station.10.00pm. Came out of shop on corner of north countess avenue and saw opposite a small dark animal running fast. Only had glimpse as was sheltered by parked cars, but guy getting in a car there spun around and was looking. By the time I crossed over there was no sign of her and nobody about as was raining. I searched that area for about 30 minutes but never found her. Notified owner and they are looking for her. I believe animal I saw was definitely a dog by its movement, obviously can't say if Scarlett or not,but by location I think its likely. If it is her she's very fast and scared.

- It seems Scarlett comes from an address nor raglan road e17 not far from where she was staying. She may be trying to find her way home. Also owners have searched immediate area last night and thought they heard Scarlett barking close by to her sighting wood street station. A search of that area is planned tonight.

- It seems that second post is from original owner who didn't realize Scarlett had been added already. Have advised Kimmybear.
