So very sorry to read this sad news. Dreadful as it is at least you know where he is and can rest with the memory of him. So often the police have more pressing things to deal with but that is no consolation to us distressed dog owners. RIP Rufus,xx

So sorry to read this news. Wiltshire Police are usually very good, however they are human like the rest of us and I know they will be as devestated as the rest of us are about Rufus.

Just to let everyone know Rufus has been found dead, he was hit on the Devizes Road Salisbury, the police had been informed by the Driver but they had assured us that there was no reports. I have to say police response has been disappointing it is a statutory requirement for a driver to report hitting a dog yet they cannot record the fact and respond to an enquiry in fact one of their call room people put the phone down on my wife because she was upset

I could not contact the microchip company over the weekend and apart from the fact that they confirmed that the number was on the data base nothing could be done over the weekend. His Microchip was implanted at an early stage as he is also docked.
Today it was confirmed that the chip has not been confirmed however the company now known of our involvement, they have to in form the person who the chip is down to first, I have let them know of the situation and a letter with cheque has been sent for the transfer.
Spoke to Wiltshire council twice today the second to find out what kennels they use for collected dogs and they have told me Bath it their main place but no dogs have been transferred there by them.
If you know what kennels are used in Southampton I will contact them.
Thanks for your support its getting worrying that there is no reports of sightings, I am getting more convinced he has been stolen

Is his microchip registered to you? I live in netherhampton and have vizslas so will spread the word. I am a member of dog lost and was not alerted to your dog being missing locally,maybe ring and make sure the website are putting him out on emails. A dog I found recently was chipped but not registered with its new owner so got taken to Southampton dog pound. Call the Southampton dog warden as they don't communicate around the local areas as so busy. I hope you find him,if I can help at all please get in touch.

its a long shot but you never know worth a call .
