Oh noooo! Not another poor baby and a train. Poor little mite and owners. Please know it would have been quick and without pain and God was there to catch him. He is safe now and always with you, just a whisper away. There are no answers to why these tragic, heartbreaking things happen, but we have to trust there is a reason to all his. I believe, sweet little Oscar had already earnt his wings. God bless Oscar and his loving family, always. x

So sorry to read this. It had to be there weren't too many places he could have got off the tracks. So frustrating we couldn't get on the tracks to track. Run free Oscar you will be so missed.

Update on Oscar's facebook page sadly his body was found by the train tracks by rail workers R.I.P Oscar over the rainbow bridge xx
podcayne
Thank you so much for looking for him. Im always on the lookout and hoping to find him by our front door :( we had quite a number of posters spread around horsham. I can make some more and put up wimblehurst road and pondtail. Whilst we were tracking with sniffer dog the other day we stopped a few people and I was quite impressed that quite a number knew about him. Just cannot understand how nobody has seen him at all. Its like he has vanished :(
choowie74
Still searching everyday on the school run up wimblehurst and pondtail and northheath school way and when i'm out with my dogs still hoping he raises his little head and say's he's around have handed out posters but haven't seen many up on lampost's around wimblehurst / pondtail way but will carry on spreading the word and looking x

Went for yet another walk and drive around horsham looking to see if something resembling Oscar shows itself but nothing still. My heart is sinking, some people still believe that he could still come back despite being missing for 14 days, I don't know what to think anymore. How come nobody has seen him or found his body if he had died? :( so heartbroken.
Leggitsmum
Oscar please find your way home your mum misses you, praying he's home safe soon x
podcayne
It's been 2 weeks today that Oscar went missing from the park. Where could he be? Went for a walk today and am constantly on the look out. Always yearning for that phone call that just doesn't come. Poppy, Oscars wife doesn't seem to want to eat although in normal circumstances she'd eat anything. Trying to hold on to some hope that he is still out there but the fact that we didn't get a definite scent pick up, makes me really upset. :'(
podcayne
Today Oscars on the horsham county times. Our hopes now rests on him being spotted by someone who doesn't know he is missing abd how much we miss him at home. Jenny, I did ask every single client from roffey to keep an eye out and checking gardens just in case.
podcayne
Thank you Jenny and Tiga. We were really pleased to meet you. We are sorry Tiga didn't track us to Oscar, but if he is out there he will eventually be seen and hopefully we'll be called. Until then we ask our neighbours, friends, dog walkers, anyone really, keep an eye out, check the gardens regularly and let us know should you see him
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
I feel so sorry for the owners. We tracked all day today but because we cannot track on the tracks we were very restricted. There were not too many places we could get close to the railway fences to try and pick up any scent leading away from the tracks. Posters were up and everyone we spoke to knew about Oscar. Owners desperately need some positive news of a sighting away from the railway.
podcayne
Sorry crate not frate -_-
podcayne
Today was a tiring day with virtually no results. Sniffer dog did not show any interest in the spot where there was a sighting and no more sightings or signs of oscar. The search ended after over 6hr of tracking with nearly the same info we had before. Sadly we will always be restricted because of the railway tracks and therefore it will be difficult to find him unless he comes through the fence somewhere and gets spotted. We had very high hopes today and finished our day on a low. There will be an article in the horsham county times tomorrow and we hope that if he has been lucky to be picked up by someone then maybe he'll be returned to us.
With regards to crate, k9 tracker pointed out that if he does go in the crate he'll be cornered should a fox come so she feels a frate is not necessary the answer. I don't know what is the answer! Very sad.

Thanks for your email and letting me know there has been a sighting. Definitely sounds promising and great that the home owner was happy to help you.. I suggest you put a box/crate with some of your unwashed clothes in it near to the place Oscar was seen (see the advice I gave you in the email) If he smells your familiar scent he may go to it and stay there..and you could put food there too. If Oscar finds it he is likely to keep going back there and you can keep him in that area. As the sighting is on the other side of the track it may that he is too frightened to cross them. However, as it's been a week now he is doing well and will be hungry enough to go to a feeding station.

Ravenette: I know podcayne has already requested help from K9Tracker so I'm sure she will be in touch as soon as/if she is able to help.

Just been out for another search and unfortunately no results :( Really desperate for a sniffing dog :(

So sorry Oscar has still not been found. Lets hope with County Times article even more people will be aware and he will soon be found and reunited eapecially if someone has taken him in. Very encouraging to hear about Aiza.
DogLostRavenette - Area Co-ordinator - West Sussex
I know how worried you must be, but I'm sure Oscar is still out there. A little Chi called Aiza went missing in GU3 back in December....there were no sightings for 9 days and then she suddenly appeared, a couple of sightings and the owners were able to catch her in a field the next day. All fingers and paws crossed here that you will soon be reunited xx
, rock road
Keep positive, he has probably found a rabbit hole to snuggle into. Fingers crossed the newspaper publishes the story. Also everything crossed that the K9 tracker gets back to you. Harvey's Army are behind Oscar now too so that's more awareness raised. Lets all keep sharing with hope x
podcayne
went to Novartis today, crate untouched, exactly the same way as I left. Contacted the County Times to do a feature on Oscar still missing. Im not sure anymore what to think or to do :-(
Leggitsmum
Please don't think he can't survive the cold, you never know someone may have taken him in and they are tough little cookies anyway. Good luck x
podcayne
Thank you for looking out for him. It is so cold though, im not sure he'll survive in this weather :-(
, rock road
I had a look on the tracks, he's not on there. I feel relieved about that at least. He must be hiding. He will show himself I'm sure.
podcayne
How sad and disheartened we are. We have done so much and had so much help and still have not found Oscars. We haven't tried the urine method but with no sightings at all where best to leave that trail?
podcayne
Thanks guys. My husband has a box of treats with him . Pray for him please :'(
Happiness yorkie lover xxx
Good luck in the search today xxxx will be thinking of you all , too far away to help on the ground xxxx
rainbows2
Just a few thoughts, though probably tried already, as I was away from home I bought a cooked chicken which I kept in fridge and took chunks off everytime I went looking and gave some to anyone helping to look at that time. Chicken is one of his favourite treats and this smelled so good. He was also hungry by this time. Don't know if Oscar has a favourite treat that you could try and entice him with . Did also try taking a favourite squeeky toy of his and squeeked around with it. I too looked under bushes and behind anything where he might have found shelter. Do so hope you find him today. Will be thinking of you all as you search.
podcayne
The park will be included. Yes its very hard to know how to find him, i really appreciate all the advice.
Shelagh
For scenting please do not leave any scenting items near tracks. I know he was on there but you want him to stay away from tracks. I wish I was close by to help but am in east London.I know your feeling like you'll never find him but please ddon't give up. If I could make a suggestion , with your search tomorrow it would be useful if a couple of you went back to where he was first missing from. Excluding the tracks, look for any exit, often the fencing alongside railway is slightly raised search under and inside every bush, shrub, under bins etc. He will be well hidden, and may not respond to you calling. I have found this useful in past as often they don't go very far at all. Good luck, praying for positive outcome for you all.
steve86
It is a shame nobody is able to walk the track. I get the train to Dorking to work most days and there is no service on a Sunday. As far as I'm aware this section of track is unused on a Sunday so any reported sighting may just allow Network Rail to assist. Just a thought.
podcayne
Sorry broke message. My smell. He is tiny, the size of a rabbit, if indeed he is still around the tracks we are stuffed because we just cant reach him. Pondtail road is included in the route as well as fay road, wimblehurst, foundry lane, but i cant see possible him going all the way to nature reserve. Very frustrated... that sighting was not oscar and it was before christmas. I appreciate all the help we can get, had it not been the tracks we could have found him by now. X
podcayne
Thank you all for brilliant advice. Tomorrows search is going to be organised on areas we feel Oscar would likely have gone. Hammerpond kennels were contacted straight away along with arundawn dog rescue, holbrook, vets, network rail. There were no sightings on tracks on friday when i saw workers. Network rail will NOT send staff if no sighting took place :-( with regards to scent i just dont know where i should be leaving it as the crates are stinky with his, popys and my

I have emailed owner with the general Doglost advice that we give out .. saying about leaving bedding/clothing (unwashed so it has a good scent!) .. much as Elf has said. Good advice there .. thanks rainbows2.
Elf.. you are right and it is well worth checking further afield as Oscar may have run scared and then found somewhere to hole up. However, it IS worth looking in dense undergrowth and branbles as he may have got caught up in them and he may even use them as shelter as he is so small. Look in any/all places where he could hide and keep warm. Obviously he will be drinking from somewhere although I expect there are numberous puddles around! Check for footprints in muddy/damp places too. Look for signs of where a dog could have been lying down overnight like a flattened piece of grass or under railway bridges etc. There are probably so many places Oscar could be.
You are all doing a good job .. sorry can't help with search but I am miles away. Will be routing for you though.
Elf
We will be there! Just noticed that there is a comment on the Horsham Facebook page about a potential sighting but it was a while ago. Someone has asked to clarify what they mean by a while ago. It was up near Studio 2 Hairdressers.
rainbows2
Glad there is going to be a group search. Will try and come if I can but not sure if I will be able to make it, sorry. One idea which you may have already done, is to rub some things with your scent and leave them at strategic places. I know you put crates, but maybe along track etc. I left a sock where there was a sighting and outside at the place I was staying, (It wasn't at home), but could use odd bits of cloth rubbed well with your scent. He did stay in the area of it for quite a while before moving even though we were unable to catch him there. Hope this weekend brings success.
, rock road
There is a group search on Sunday the 18th Jan. We are meeting at Novartis Horsham Research Centre Wimblehurst Rd, Horsham, West Sussex RH12 5AB any help would be appreciated, please come along at 1pm
Elf
Done a bit of research . . . . apparently dogs will always take the path of least resistance when travelling so will avoid steep embankments, brambles and dense undergrowth, jumping fences etc. With this in mind and Oscar last seen on a railway line I reckon he may have ventured further along the tracks then first thought because it is enclosed and virtually straight. I have also found out that dogs have excellent homing skills and the longer they are lost the greater the search area needs to be as they try and attempt to find their way home. I can't help thinking that maybe we need to look slightly further down the line. Maybe further towards Pondtail Road and Warnham nature reserve. I also noticed a wooded area whilst wandering the streets looking which is very close to the tracks. As much as your hope and faith are starting to waiver he can't have just disappeared without a trace. Have you called the dog warden and Hammerpond Kennels recently? All strays end up there. Louie and I will go for a mammoth walk tomorrow searching the area. We have to find him. Has Network Rail done another walk of the line recently?
podcayne
Im heartbroken as my little dog is still missing for a week today. Rainbow where do you think, where would you look for him?

So very sorry to hear that precious Oscar has still not been found. Know you must be so upset. Will continue to keep my eyes open and look for him when out and about. You certainly have been doing everything you can do.

Another day with no news, both crates untouched, no calls or sightings. We are so heartbroken that Im bearily functioning. I have run out of ideas too. I have done everything i could and that was in my power. :-(

So frustrating and heartbreaking for you to have no news. I really hope you hear something soon. Come on people, someone, somewhere must know about this boy x

Still have a bit of faith that someone somewhere has him and will call soon. Let's see what today brings us. Its looking bleak though :(

just came back from another unsuccessful search :( running out of options. Please email this poster to all south east vets just in case he has been taken away :(
podcayne
How disappointing it was today. Crate empty and neat no sign of anything going in there at all. Have been searching and have put up another crate. Have managed to get yet more kind people to help looking, advertising, raise awareness, its as though he has vanished :( I am calling all those again today Rottieroo. Today is day 5 and my heart is sinking deeper. Thank u all that have been helping in any shape or form. It is much appreciated.
rainbows2
So sorry there is still no news. Have put acouple of posters at entrances to Amberley Park and also one at foot crossing over railway line there. Had a look along the line and in undergrowth from the park along the edge, at crossing and in undergrowth toward walkthrough to Earls Meadow but afraid did not see him. Sorry. Do keep looking. I know you must be exhausted and upset. My little dog was missing nearly 6 days when we were reunited. He was thinner and needed a good bath and vet visit but otherwise had somehow survived well. He was also nervous of other people and evaded them.
RottieRoo
Sorry you don't have any news yet. You're doing all you can to look for your boy. Might be worth recalling all the vets, rescues, wardens police, etc just to remind them about Oscar and let them know he's still missing
podcayne
Been out looking tonight with no luck. Really worried that the weather is turning worse and no news or sightings. Please can you help us out.
podcayne
Hi, we have now put up a crate next to the hole he went through, that we waterproofed and put his bed, toy, pjs, all sorts. We are still looking and searching, we do need help still. Please help us find him.
podcayne
Hi, that would be lovely Rainbows2. Can u download this poster and print it out for me and spreading the word please?
Rottie, no luck yet :(
rainbows2
Hi, So sorry to hear about Oscar. I live in the Horsham area and wondered if you would like me to put up some posters around the area further up the track. Littlehaven and park area with railtrack at bottom off Amberley close and even by Novartis crossing etc of you haven't already done so. Do hope you find him soon.
RottieRoo
Morning. so glad he's not been found on the track! he's out there somewhere. Keep doing what you're doing, look after yourself, and keep looking for Oscar. Did you have any luck with County Times doing a story for you? Picture of Oscar, "this little dog stopped the trains" and appeal for help looking. Just to let you know above is 'View Poster' tab. Click this and there's a pre made doglost poster for you or anyone else to use. Hope you get good news soon. Keep positive xxLast edited: 2015-01-13 08:10:44 by RottieRoo

Hi Oozlem, Im a vety nurse at Arthur Lodge. Thank you very much for the offer. I might come around later if you don't mind. Hi I live off pondtail road and our garden backs onto the railway. Your more then welcome to come up and call from end of garden .....its a long shot but you never know. Also I expect you have done already but have you gone onto nature reserve/golf course ??? That's other side of tracks from us too, we lost one of our cats for 5mths when we moved in and that's where she was living !! Don't lose hope, I'm a dog owner and a veterinary nurse so know what your going through.
podcayne
This afternoon I met with network rail staff that searched the tracks- was out for an hour going up and down the tracks. no luck yet. good point is he didnt find a dead dog, so he must be out there somewhere. Please help us find this little boy.
podcayne
So nobody called from any vets and no news really. Network rail has contacted me via email sending a local team to see if they can see him. Im still pretty desperate and need all your help. Thank you to those helping xx
RottieRoo
Helped look for Oscar yesterday and we need to find him. If you live anywhere near the area please help look for him. Horsham, West Sussex. He went missing from Pondtail Road (small park where the railway crosses the road). He ran along the railway towards Horsham and was seen near Novartis, Wimblehurst Road. His home is not far from here, but he only has little legs, so probably not travelled too far. Please share and spread the word for his worried family and if you have any time come and search the area..thanks x

Hopefully some kind person has picked him up and is waiting on the services opening to hand him in xxxxxx

Another night and no news. Wwather is turning, he won't make it long as je really feels the cold. Will be out looking today and hoping for some good news. Please help us find him.
