- Just to update you all..... After sharing a night or two with Basil at Crossroads, I'm heartbroken to say that Jade was diagnosed with terminal cancer and despite a good fight, lost the battle last week and is now waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge, reunited with her sister Amber. RIP my beautiful girl.

- Just to let you know that Basil came home last night and although still quite weak, is very happy to be back home. He has been sleeping most of the time in his bed by the radiator and eating his food. As soon as he feels better, I will post the photo. You are welcome to join me on Facebook ( Elena Blair Johansen, to see yesterday's photos of him. My son is over the moon that his Basil was found. it is a miracle really.
I would like to arrange the drinks at the Crown Inn in Penn and to invite a lovely couple who found Basil. They saw the poster in Crown Inn in Penn and contacted me. When I arrived, they have already arranged for the vets to be there. I will ask for their availability next weekend ( 31 Jan/1Feb). I do hope you can join and we can share our stories. I will keep you informed about the date and how Basil is doing. Elena xx - 2015-01-20 21:31 Elaine Tinker and Hemps mum

- Went to the the vets this afternoon to visit Jade and while I was there I peeped in on Basil, introduced myself and told him we had all been looking for him and worrying about him. He was quite happy to say Hello and looked well considering his 9 day ordeal.
Happy to say Jade had improved enough this evening to be allowed home for the night, though she still has a way to go before she is better and may quite possibly end up back at the vets, but for the moment she is back where she belongs.
Hopefully Basil will be home very soon too. xxx

- Oh this has made my day! So happy he's been found! Wishing him a speedy recovery. Please join us on facebook - UK Boston Terrier Group. We arrange Boston meet-ups, raise money for the new boston terrier rescue charity, share stories and silly pictures and loads of people to help find missing bostons over the UK. We shared the post about missing Frank - Very similar story to Basil. I shared Basil's too. It's great for advice and i've saved money on vets bills by asking others about allergies etc. Once again, i'm so happy I nearly cried that Basil has be found :) xxx

- So very pleased that Basil is now safe. I hope he recovers quickly and fully. Thrilled for you Elena X

- Really good news and what a lucky break to find him as he might have been lying there for the last nine days?
Please let everyone know when he has fully recovered (With a picture)as we all follow these little boys and girls when we have helped search for them. - 2015-01-20 10:10 Kaybow
- I live in Hazlemere and have logged in everyday to see if Basil had been found. We walked our spaniel at Penn Street woods on Sunday, our children and my husband were on mountain bikes. I so hoped we would find him! Extremely thrilled Basil is found and on the road to recovery. Our dog is 6 this year, the kindness and friendship found in other fellow dog owners has amazed me over the years. So pleased for you. Xx

- Hi Sam, sorry to hear about Jade and hope she will be home soon all well.
I was in such a haze last night that hardly talked to anyone or smiled to anyone, but I think I remember very briefly seeing a lady with a collie smiling at me. So sorry I didn't say anything to you... Hopefully the dogs will recover soon and we can have a walk together.... Elena x

- Ive been following the news for Basil as a fellow boston owner who's boston Blu was stolen a year ago reunited after 4 days so I knew a little of what you went through. I would have been out every day had I still lived in gerrards cross but I did share all posters with locals and boston group and rescue and we are all so pleased he was found. Hold him tight and enjoy having him home xxxx

- So pleased we could all be of help and overjoyed for the happy outcome.
Doglost really is a community that all join together when one of our local babies goes missing and we all celebrate the happy outcomes.
I was at the vets late afternoon today when you walked past me with Basil wrapped up in your arms. Seeing him put a big smile on my face on what has been a very long, tiring and worrying day for me and my own dog.
Basil isn't on his own at West Wycombe tonight......
My beautiful border collie Jade, 14 next month, is also hospitalized at Wycombe, on a drip to try and beat a nasty infection.
Wonder if she realises that Basil is the one we have been looking for when out on walks??!!
Fingers crossed that both of our babies recover and get to come back home very soon.
Sam xx

- Oh my God - that's fantastic news. Had just copied off 12 posters and was going to put your correct telephone number on and put some more up tomorrow. Now no need thank goodness! Oh this is really fantastic news. He has been amazing to get through all those freezing nights. Dogs are more resilient than we think. Stay safe now Basil and into the blue you go! xx

- Great news everybody! I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support and kind words since Basil has been missing, 9 DAYS AGO!
Today a lovely couple got in contact with me to tell me that they have seen Basil and recognised him from one of the posters we left at a pub in Penn. The husband went to the Crossroad vets and brought the vets to the site where Basil was found laying. It was by A404 towards Amersham off Gravely way. Basil is now under observation in the main surgery and hopefully will be back home within the next 48 hours. It is a miracle!
If this was to teach me a lesson in life, it is NEVER TO GIVE UP! I should have accepted your offers last week to keep on looking......
Anything I can help with to any of you in the future, please let me know. My friends and I will be keeping an eye on this website and we will gladly help if required. Many thanks. Happy Elena and Jack xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx - 2015-01-19 19:20 Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum

- Thank you very much for all your kind support in finding our Basil. Unfortunately he has not been found yet. But we have made so many wonderful friends we have not met. We were touched by your kindness, support and helpful suggestions. I am slowly making piece with the fact that we may not be reunited unless he was lucky enough that someone found him on 10th January. Because he was injured by the car and because of the cold weather, I am afraid he would have not survived in the woods overnight in the cold temperature. We had so many people expressing their concern and wishing to help which I can only be very grateful for. We let the local vets know and put the posters and people were happy to spread the word, and this is as much as we could have done. Thank you once again and lets hope that someone has found him.

- How about asking Bucks Free Press to run a story on Basil incase he's been picked up by someone?
- 2015-01-15 22:23 silver
- Had a drive around Gravelly Way up through Penn Street and back to the Amersham Road - I saw two posters, though may have missed some. Elena, would you like more help with posters and a search. You must be feeling upset at the moment understandably. x
- 2015-01-15 21:13 blondie
- Hi Elena is there any news on Basil?
- 2015-01-13 23:14 Loz Rowe
- Hi, I've shared this on facebook - Have you joined the UK Boston Terrier Group on facebook? We shared news on a similar missing boston called Frank, also hit by a car and run off. He was found wondering in someones garden about a week later so don't give up hope. I'll keep sharing until he's found. Really hope you find Basil. Fellow Boston Owner x.
- 2015-01-13 18:30 silver
- I am free Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, all day Friday or Saturday or Sunday. Sounds like more posters need to be put up and really in a 5 mile radius of where he was spotted - no easy feat. Once we get another siting, can leave scent track (that can still be done near where he went missing), set up feeding station, BBQ and trap. Elena although not good outcome, look at Elsie and Darcy's reunited (rainbow bridge) story as there are some useful tips on there. Does anyone know of a local tracker dog? I can bring my collie, but he is pretty useless at tracking.
- 2015-01-13 16:34 paulinewestiefan
- sorry if you have done this have you spoken to the people at the travellers site along the A404 where he was seen on Sunday I left a poster at Hazlemere X Rds vets today they said they are very help full at the site also noticed no reward put up unfortunately people who do find dogs sell them on so if they can get reward money might be an incentive to help I am available to search at the weekend. A spaniel went missing last year in Penn wood he was found at Coleshill, it was a dog lost poster that brought him home, thinking of you.
- 2015-01-13 13:26 blondie
- Silver you are right an organised search would be the way ahead it's the only way to cover enough ground to find him. The forecast is not good & Bostons aren't very good in the cold, he needs finding.
- 2015-01-13 12:37 silver
- It sounds like we need to step up the search if this little one is injured and weather not great. Elena, have you postered around Amersham and contacted the Bucks Examiner. Posters need to go up on all the dog walking routes. Do we need an organised search?
- 2015-01-12 18:34 blondie
- I have driven up and down Penn Bottom several times but no sightings, any news Elena? I have shared your poster with all my local friends I can think of, I do so hope you find the little man.
- 2015-01-12 09:58 Ronniedog
- Hi elena, I am hoping you have found Basil before then, but if you want some help searching tonight, I am happy to meet up with you after I finish work - any time from say 6.15pm, as I will be in the area doing the horses. I would have Ronniedog with me, but he is very other-dog friendly. Please call 07768 340413 if I can help. Sam
- 2015-01-11 21:53 Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
- Also make sure plenty of posters up in the woods for dog walkers to see - spreading the word really is the key, then you should get more sightings coming in. Let school, postmen, refuse collectors aware too x
- 2015-01-11 21:50 Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
- See if local pubs will display some posters for you. The ones at Winchmore Hill have been very helpful in the past for dogs missing in the area. I'm afraid I no longer live that way, but keeping everything crossed for you x
- 2015-01-11 19:54 Basil
- Thanks Silver for your kind offer. As Basil is a puppy and has been hit by a car before running off, we have done all the searching we believe we could possibly do. We are now hoping that by tomorrow if anyone has picked him up we will hear if he has been handed into a Vets. There have been so many lovely people like yourself offering to help. Thanks again. Elena
- 2015-01-11 19:42 silver
- Aww - sorry to hear about poor Basil being lost and hurt. I live in Loudwater and although not free every day this week, am sure would be available if there is an organised search. Will also drive over there to hsve a look round. xx

- Thank you for your bed suggestion, we will give that a try. Its a good idea. Many Thanks Elena
- 2015-01-11 17:25 TigerLilly100
- Have you put a bed out somewhere with your clothing in it? He will recognise the smell and is likely to stay with it.
- 2015-01-11 17:19 Basil
- we have been walking through the woods behind Penn street/common/church area. No luck, but met many kind people along the way showing us a lot of support. Thank you so much for all your kindness and help. It is so appreciated! Now just hoping someone has found him and will take him to a vet tomorrow to read his chip so he can come back home to us.xx

- Where is Bens Motors exactly?
Thank you to everyone - really appreciate your comments and help. Just to answer your questions - Basil was hit by a car outside my house in Penn Bottom road. He ran off and was seen a couple of times after that running towards Amersham but then up the fields probably disorientated. We have been searching the woods but did not get as far as Amersham Road as Basil is a very small young dog and we didn't think he would get that far.
I am hoping that he is either already found or hiding safely and that maybe another dog will find him. We are going out again with dogs tomorrow. - 2015-01-10 23:16 Gino
- Sighting reported on Amersham Road A404 North side in the area of Bens Motors this morning at around 10:00.
