- I've tried to tag the owners on Facebook Wendy but not sure if they'll see it. I'm glad someone else picked up on the similarities too! Fingers crossed!

- please check:
Middlesbrough Dog Wardens trapped this dog (safely and in forecasted temperatures above zero) following reports that it was living feral in the countryside near Nunthorpe. The dog timid and shy was transported to Waterfall Kennels. On entering the kennels the dog drank an entire bowl of water and settled happily into its new environment. If you have lost this dog call Middlesbrough Council on 01642 726001 quoting reference no 9935.

- Yes both Tiga and Yogi picked up scent last week and both tracked down Redbridge Lane, in fact I think this point near the bridge could well be a much used point as Tiga tracked from here over the bridge towards the railway (only towards no danger of accessing railway) and Yogi tracked into the common by the style. Neither Tiga or Yogi wanted to go down the track to a property at the end. I cannot remember the exact route we took but from here Tiga carried on over the bridge and eventually into a field alongside the railway continuing on a long path into Basingstoke over a bridge over the railway around a housing estate and amazingly ended up back at the bridge and back a different way back to near where the tents are from a different direction. I am fairly confident that Bobby is clearly hanging around the area especially after the sighting on Saturday.
- 2015-02-15 22:48 penny
- I had already spoken to both residents either side of bridge, the have leaflets and are keeping an eye out, by the way pip? Can you give details? Is this another dog lost in basing?
- 2015-02-15 21:34 POSHBIRD69
- The guy that lives in the cottage his name is andy morris will see if I can pass on the message to him...
- 2015-02-15 20:35 Gill
- Has anyone spoken to the people in the cottage next door to the bridge? I knocked on the door but no response. Bobby seems to move early in the morning & late evening. Jenny did Tiga pick his scent up last week? I feel is his also in the lower field, no one walks their dogs down there & perhaps he goes into Basing ruins, nobody around at the weekends. I walk every day on the common will keep looking for him - perhaps we need to do a group stakeout at different positions!
- 2015-02-15 20:17 Jo Webber
- So sad about poor Pip :( I went into the reed beds this morning at 7.45 ish (am I mad lol) and no joy, lots of deer prints but a few prints from either a fox or dog. I had to spend so much time checking my footing that it was hard to actually look for him. There's lots of paths made by deer that follow dry routes so he could easily be following those.
- 2015-02-15 19:46 penny
- Brilliant news that he May have been spotted! I have been walking up and down that road for weeks as i am also convinced he is in there somewhere! You do know that there is a lot water tho that goes along the bottom of the basing road small holdings? And is very boggy, i doubt a small dog would cross it, but! I do agree that he is in that land. Noone really e er walks there and no other dogs go there so he would feel somewhat safe! I also posted that someone else that lives on Redbridge lane had thought she saw him crossing the road info that land one night, so fingers crossed!!!
- 2015-02-15 09:05 Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
- After coming away from tracking poor Pip I came over to Basing to have a wander round looking for Bobby. I spoke to people telling them that Bobby was still missing but there had been a sighting. I couldn't track as owner was away and so I had no scent item. I sat in all the car parks for some 30 minutes after it got too dark to wander on my own. I checked the bed and refreshed the water.
- 2015-02-14 12:02 Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
- Jo - I think you are right. We tracked along Basing Road and ended up along the footpath by the railway but eventually after a loop came back to that area but a different way. Without checking with owners I cant remember how but we ended up close to where the tents are.
- 2015-02-14 11:35 Jo Webber
- Yes, the hump backed bridge is called Red Bridge (hence Redbridge road lol) and as soon as I saw the dog I thought of the footprints seen in the snow down there. The dog had a feathered tail, not a short haired tail and was small spaniel size. I'm convinced Bobby is somewhere in the land on the other side of Redbridge Road where the reed beds and watercress beds are between the common and the Hampshire Clinic. I had a good search in the reed beds (the bits I could get to) but that was after I'd got my dogs back in the car so he'd probably gone to ground by then. I'm hoping to go back up earlier tomorrow morning and go back to the reed beds. He's out there somewhere! Maybe the owners could set up a crate with his bedding and food down that way to see if he appears for that?
- 2015-02-14 11:20 Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
- Jo - is that near Redbridge road, Tiga and Yogi both tracked down there from the common and also Yogi tracked from no 1 car park around lime pits and back into car park 2 and back onto Redbridge. Do you remember what sort of tail the black dog had? I have jst spoken to owner in case they had not seen your post.
Sorry I see that I didn't post on here after tracking with Tiga on Tuesday and Yogi on Wednesday. It is highly likely that this black dog is Bobby. It is in exactly the right area where there have been other possible sightings and where we tracked to and not far from where Bobby ran off.Last edited: 2015-02-14 11:24:39 by Jenny & Tiga k9tracker - 2015-02-14 10:54 Jo Webber
- I messaged the owner on FB with the possible sighting, I'm not 100% certain it was him but there was nobody else in sight with a dog that it could possibly have been. Apparently they had K9 trackers out a few days ago but no news from that. Thanks for bumping him to the top, I just hope it was him I saw.Last edited: 2015-02-14 10:55:36 by Jo Webber

- Thanks for everyone who is helping. Just thought I'd say that sounds like a great idea ellenby75. I don't think owner is posting on here but maybe give them a call or text them on the number above.
Good luck. - 2015-02-14 08:39 Jo Webber
- Up on Basing common now and 5 minutes ago saw a small black dog running by the hump backed bridge. Nobody else in sight. May not have been him but I'm hoping!

- After the last mass search on that Sunday, I met a lady from Hampshire horsewatch who said she & her fellow rider's are more than happy to have some horses out searching with volunteer's. Horses can cover a massive area & surround woodland area's. Happy to give the lady's details to Jackie if she would like to consider this alternative?
- 2015-02-07 19:07 Jo Webber
- I've not heard of any searches this weekend on FB
- 2015-02-07 09:55 ellenby75
- Are there any searches arranged for this weekend? Would be good if as many people as poss could surround the area between redbridge & Hants clinic & get the area inside covered by as many as possible & see if he can be flushed out of that area IF the possible sightings are correct?
- 2015-02-06 23:39 penny
- Just wanted to add, al ladies out looking on your own, please be careful in areas around Redbridge lane, chalk pits and Hampshire clinic road! I had a not very nice encounter with a very sinister man last week and have reported it to Hampshire police! I do not want to alarm anyone! But please do be aware that some of these areas are not very public and i just want you to be safe!
- 2015-02-06 23:33 penny
- Yes! I heard he had done that. I am not giving up either! Am going to do Crabtree tomorrow, good luck
- 2015-02-06 23:16 Gill
- Owner was up on Basing Common cooking sausages at 1am in the morning !! Sadly no sign of Bobby. Plan to walk around Barton's Mill & field near to Redbridge Lane tomorrow morning. Can't give up

- Any news yet?
- 2015-02-01 15:47 penny
- I think the owners are at the point of trying anything! Anyway, we have all been out today all over old basing, have given more leaflets out and spoken to lots. Areas i covered were basing ruins, all along Redbridge lane and bottom of common. Gave out missing leaflets. Sunday is a good day because you catch lots of people out walking in all areas. Will be out tomorrow looking
- 2015-02-01 10:41 Jo Webber
- Hope they were Bobby's prints. Details of tracker dog have been given to owners but if he's still in the same area he may be spooked by another dog following and move on? That's just a guess as to why they might not have gone down the tracker route.
- 2015-01-31 11:42 mayjul
- Maybe a tracker dog would be able to assist in this situation? Fingers crossed Diane that this was bobbys prints you saw. Hope he is found safely soon x
- 2015-01-31 09:11 Diane
- Don't want to add any false hope but woke with thumper head looked out and saw snowed a little, so I walked edge common field, lime pits field, before trodden by rest of us dog walkers. Walking towards hump bridge (bad bend) Redbridge lane I saw what i think line dog prints coming out of field/undergrowth on left, zigzagged road then went back in. This was before any cars or dog walkers in the snow. Have passed info to owners, def not fox print as the have shorter large pad. Might tie in with where a lady MAY have seen him dart across road. I hiked up and down area but lost prints in undergrowth between large fallen tree.

- Hi its lovely to see so many kind people out there looking for Bobby, please continue. The owners are very grateful. I just pray he is found safe and well soon. I am a student studying Animal Management at BCOT and have been working along side Laura the dog warden doing my work experience placement for the past week. We have searched different areas of Old Basing but sadly no sightings. We would really appreciate if someone does get a sighting to call 01256 844844 and report immediately. The dog warden receives this information from the call centre while on patrol.

- Searched the common yesterday afternoon also Hampshire clinic road also back up to common and lime pits just before dark last pm (20th) and spoke to a cple of people. Everyone is aware and all keeping an eye out. Went out again this morning 8.30 called and walked along common/redbridge road spoke to a woman who thinks she may have seen him dart across the bottom of Redbridge lane into the overgrown fields that will eventually come out at Hampshire clinic road, on Friday night. She stopped car and shone her torch but he had gone! Re the previous comment about the hippies living in the woods, i walked over this morning (21st) noone about (or all asleep) so tied a poster to a tree! Spoke to a cple on the smallholding opposite the clinic who said they were not aware of dog missing so gave them a leaflet. Also a guy that runs thru woods and fields in that area now has leaflet. Also anyone thought about rabbit holes? There are some big warrens around that whole area
- 2015-01-26 12:48 Diane
- I agree with Donna, and also since frightened by another dog, he may not come out when other dogs around, I think the very late at night, early morning is the time when he would come forward if he heard a familiar voice. Another thought was the area behind the Army Cadet hut, he could be moving between the Common, there and Basing House with ease.
- 2015-01-26 11:31 Donna
- Hi if Bobby still in the area this may work it was told to me and the outcome was successful, place some of the owners clothing or a blanket the dog may have slept on in the area he was last seen, will have to place a note with items explaining so that people leave them, the dog then has a familiar scent and stays with the item, however you need to check late night and very early morning. I do hope he is found soon x
- 2015-01-26 09:55 Jo Webber
- The owners have spoken to the man living in a tent by the allotments and although he apparently has water bowls out he says he's not seen Bobby.
- 2015-01-26 09:53 Jo Webber
- Search on Sunday didn't spot him but the verges on the A30 have been thoroughly searched and thankfully he's not there.
- 2015-01-26 09:25 Retriever
- Was in Mill Field this morning and saw poster. No sign of Bobby. Will keep looking.
- 2015-01-24 20:24 Gill
- That is great news - I will be up on the common early tomorrow morning so will keep an eye out for him - we have to find him.
- 2015-01-24 18:22 Jo Webber
- Afraid not, though the sighting has now been confirmed as far as the owners are concerned.
- 2015-01-24 13:20 Gill
- Jo - do you know who may have seen Bobby & whereabouts on the common he was spotted ?
- 2015-01-23 20:50 Jo Webber
- From Facebook comments I believe there was another sighting of Bobby today! 7.30 am on Basing Common.
- 2015-01-23 19:03 Gill
- I have an appointment in town at 11:20 on Sunday - will try and join you in the search , I maybe a little late
- 2015-01-23 08:53 Diane
- I searched part of field between Hants Clinic and Redbridge Lane least Saturday, but turned back as there are people "living " in camping tents, some sites abandoned but others still there, well hidden in thicket, and as on own thought better of approaching them about any sightings.
- 2015-01-23 08:46 Jo Webber
- There is another group search on Sunday 25th starting at 12 noon from The Hatch pub, Hatch. Please come and help if you can!
- 2015-01-22 21:48 Jo Webber
- I'll be out looking again this weekend, I'm planning to try covering the land between Old Basing and Hook in case he headed that way. As it's open fields it might explain why there's been no sightings?
- 2015-01-22 20:54 ellenby75
- Have walked through the fields/greenland along Redbridge Lane & Barton's Lane today....Sadly no sign. The land along redbridge lane is very boggy & dense in some area's but also lots of places for him to find shelter. Also went down by Hampshire Clinic hoping to see Mr Knight the tree surgeon who has some lockup's down that way but there was nobody around. May be worth placing some poster's down that way as I see a few paddock's with livestock down there now. May also be worth asking the Bartons mill Manager if you can enter the woodland behind the restaurant too as I know from past searched this area is also very dense with lots of hiding places. There are also a few out buildings down behind the pub & a large shed which is accessible Im free this coming weekend if owner's would like any help searching these area's ....wellies are a must!

- No luck with the search, only 3 of us showed up who weren't family! Still no more sightings as far as I am aware. Animal search uk have suggested focusing more on the Lychpit area and hopefully he'll show his face soon.
