Hello,It was me who rang to notify everyone about Ben going missing. He is not mine, but belongs to a friend of ours.Ben was not left chained while his owner, David, was at work, he was put out at 9 am on Thursday 21st December and was gone within the half hour. David had another dog stolen from there about 2 years ago, a 9 month old border collie bitch called Nell. This is why we were so suspicious of the tales that have been presented to the dog warden and police by the neighbours. Ben is the friendliest dog I have ever met and yet there are claims he has bitten 2 people. It doesn't make sense. When we have gone over there Ben is first out of the door to greet us, we grab his collar and haul him around, pick him up, there is absolutely no malice in this dog. Of course, we don't know what he was reacting to, so we have to agree with Majorjet. On top of that, how could he have undone the trigger clip? As David said: "You need fingers."Note that there has been a great deal of trouble with the one neighbour who claims to have been bitten. We have been driving round there most days since, but there isn't a sign. Have rung the pounds. Dog wardens are off until 2nd or 3rd of January. One other thing you should know, David is a very vulnerable person. The dog is his only real friend and companion and used to sleep on his bed. Sorry d this post by mistake from FenrisLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Fenris, BC has asked me to do a story for the local media, but reading through all this I am very confused about the exact circumstances of Ben's disappearance. Obviously I need to get it right. Do you want to PM me the details ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to the pounds, they have not had Ben in over the holiday period, he would of been picked up by Carmarthen or Ceredigion dog wardens and have checked both, will check again tommorow, have also notified Tyagored in case someone takes him there, Ceredigion dog warden always rings me as soon as he find a Border Collie, so will know immediately if he is picked up by Dave. Owl, I have spoken to the owners friend "Fenris", and explained the importance of postering everywhere, but she dosnt live close to the area the dog went missing from, so perhaps we could get some posters up, is your printer working yet, mine is still out of action. Thanks for your offer of help Nik, any thoughts always appreciated!!!! Thanks BCLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Fenris, im a bit confused, when we spoke the other day, and i suggested that because of the rift David had with the neighbour, that perhaps the neighbour had unclipped him, taken him, and perhaps dumped him, i was told that the argument between them had been sorted out, and that you felt that the neighbour wasnt connected with Ben going missing, from what you are saying in your post, there is still a problem with the neighbour??? Could you also clarify, I spoke to you orignally, when Ben first went missing, and posted your comments 23rd December, at that time you told me that the dog had been placed on a chain in the garden at approx 9 a.m and that no-one had realised until 5pm that he was missing, am i right now in thinking that it was only 30 mins before it was noticed that he was gone. I have spoken to Radio Ceredigion and they are not in the office today. I was told to ring back next week. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Fenris, thanks for putting us fully in the picture. I think you need to give Radio Ceredigion a call. They have been very good so far about mentioning missing dogs, and when there was a collie on the run not far from this one, some sightings were phoned in and the owner caught up with him. This is obviously different - Ben could be wandering, he could have been taken and let loose, or even sold on. If you can post any more detailed description besides long coated and black and white, e.g. any distinguishing markings, it would be a help in the absence of a photo. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

HOPE BEN IS FOUND AND CAUGHT SOON. BORDER COLLIES AS WE ALL KNOW CAN BE VERY UNPREDICTABLE WHEN UNDER STRESS (LIKE A LOT OF DOGS). WITH THE RIGHT CALM APPROACH HE SHOULD BE MUCH BETTER. GOOD LUCK WITH THE SEARCH. CHEERS JAN (LIVERPOOL) XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dogs name is BEN, he was on a chain in the garden at 9am in the morning and when the owner came home around 5pm, the dog was gone, she thinks he managed to undo the trigger clip, some people in croeslan saw the dog, and when they tried to catch him, he bit the people according to the dog warden, but on speaking to the owner, they said that Ben was a very friendly dog, and she was sure he wouldnt bite anyone????Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We need a contact number for this one please? Until then, PM me if any news as this is not far from me. I can see we are going to have fun with this lad - not! Will drive round and have a look later on, can also spend more time searching tomorrow if necessary with something nice to eat. Will talk to our Wales co-ordinator BC and see what can be done. I think someone in this area will have a trap, which sounds the best idea if he is going to be stroppy.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
