This dog has now gone to a local rescue centre, which offered to take the dog (and it's medical issues) after the 7 days were up, rather than the dog being pts. They will have it assessed by the vet & treat it accordingly. They have a home lined up & if they need funds will do an appeal on their rescue page. Thank you everyone who has expressed interest & offered to help :)

All I can say at the moment is the dog is safe. I will update when I can.

That is a shame. Am sorry for your efforts Max and Gill. You all knock yourselves out trying to help and are restricted for who knows what reason. Look up Purdy in Rainbow Bridge section of this website and you will see what happened to her. I do hope this can be sorted and he gets the treatment he needs.

Are these dogs actually safe? It is hard to work out what is going on from these posts. I am willing to donate towards treatment.
gill
yes it was all arranged , the japanese chin club would have paid for all treatment but it was refused although pirate fm says that woodside were raising funds for a bloodhound treatment for £1000 they and gables surely didnt need to turn down this offer of help
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
Are you the person who was going to foster them Gill? I know he did say though that they would be safe. Gables farm was taking this one. Surely when they go there it is up to them what happens next. Not the Dw?
gill
the dog warden will not allow japanese chin rescue to have these 2 dogs

Hi, Great news. I have liaised with the dog warden & Japanese chin rescue. It seems this is a cross JC, but they are willing to help. A fosterer has come forward & is going to take both dogs (as it seems they may be from same place). They (JC )will hopefully be able to fund the treatment too. I have said if there is any need for further funds, to let me know & I can put an appeal out :) :) HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY

That is wonderful news. I think Max is coordinating. If you let us know when sorted I will send you a donation for him.
AnimalsIn Distress
Animals in Distress Rescue centre in Ipplepen (Near Newton Abbot) will take this dog on and his medical issues if he remains unclaimed. I'm not sure who i need to contact directly about this but whoever it is can contact me on 01803 812121 option 1 and ask for the kennel manager.

Thanks reggiemollieros, I have sent them an email

Max you could try thelittledogrescue.co.uk They do take dogs from the pound.
They have fosters throughout the UK and if funds could be raised to help would be great. I will donate. I have shared on Facebook in case it will help. I have also shared on twitter. Last edited: 2015-01-28 20:10:45 by reggiemollieros

I am hoping that if we can find a rescue place then we can work something out with Dw & a vet to take on the treatment (if treatment is possible). I have managed to get in touch with someone from Japanese Chin (JT) rescue. He is going to look at dogs & see if they are JT's & if the rescue can help. I will let everyone know as soon as he gets back to me & then maybe we sort something out re payment.

Ah well shame on the owners , I hope they don't sleep at night after what they have put these dogs through x
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
At the moment I do not know who the owner is. I have tried vets in the area & they are not listed in the ones I have tried.

Surely this poor little dog should be reported to the RSPCA.

Please do not put this dog and his possible buddy to sleep, if I can help with a foster home then I will. They need a chance and some love

This poor dog is in danger of being pts, as it's 7 days is up in the kennels on Saturday (but I am told Monday will be the last day). They are normally rehomed but the dog has a deformed leg due to a previous break that was left untreated. However, this is not the main problem. It may have a tumour behind the eye (vets assessment). sadly, the council & kennels to which it would normally go for rehoming, do not have funds for this treatment or further assessment.
There is another dog which was possibly from the same address which will go for rehoming if not claimed.(In a matted condition).
I am at a loss what to do. Have tried to contact Japanese chin rescue (awaiting call back).
I have told the dog warden I will do all I can to help this one & let him know in the next couple of days.
Jaycey
Aww poor little fella..Hope he gets home soon x

There is a distinct possibility that found dog ref 81981 is from the same location. As there was a posting on facebook to say this dog had apparently got out of a garden & when it was put back there was another there. Although the garden wasn't secure! Will make some enquiries to see if I can find out who owner is.I will also try to contact someone at Japanese chin rescue, just in case these dogs are not claimed
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
I believe that the photo I have added is the dog in question. There was a fb posting yesterday, saying it was picked up & taken to Gables dogs & cats home, but has since been collected by DW. It has a deformed front leg too. The poor thing looks a bit sad :(
