- Dear everyone, thanks for all your help. Sally was indeed trying to get the dog off the motorway and then catch her; she went looking for her afterwards, too - many thanks to her. And Tracie and her family found and looked after her, and then contacted us - we are so grateful! The dog was scared and travelling very fast at the beginning. She did indeed cover a lot of ground, with confirmed sightings from Newnham, through Grantchester, M11, Madingley Road, Cavendish campus, Trumpington Road, and Lensfield Road. She is young, had only recently arrived here, and was let out by someone with a dogwalking company, insured etc, who was not sufficiently careful about shutting doors - and she was then chased. So she got quite spooked and ran. We are really grateful for all that people on this site did - thanks again!

- Estelle, I'm the person who tried to catch her by the motorway so no need for further identification. I can assure you I was not trying to dump the dog and couldn't think of anything more horrific. I would have very much preferred not to have been in that situation at the time and did my very best to steer her away from trouble. Very pleased she is home.

- Helen, Jayne - I don't know the circumstances under which she went missing, but if there is a suspicion that she might have been stolen, the person I thought I saw trying to catch her might instead have been dumping her and I can give a rough description. Or, given her obvious capacity for long-distance travel, she might have got from Granchester Meadows to the next junction of the M11 on her own.

- I saw a tan-coloured dog (I thought a terrier) running across the M11 junction yesterday morning. Someone appeared to try and intercept it but it ran off down the northbound slip-road onto the motorway. Someone posted on Twitter a little later that she'd seen a tan terrier with a blue collar cross the M11 safely and go onto the West Cambridge site. No further news, but it certainly sounds like your dog.
