Come home soon Jane. Have crossposted to Terrier talk. Couldn't a similar photo of Jane be found & put on here. It is surely better than having no photo. Would you like me to find one? xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well, at least we tried our best and know the situation. The number on this thread, the lady who actually contacted us, is not owner but a neighbour, will call her later to update. Jane appears to be a regular and enthusiastic hunter, and unless we can pinpoint the area we can't do very much more I am afraid. Big thank you to Ken who drove us there and to BC for lending me some dry trousers as I was soaked and covered in mud. I always have spare clothes in my car but forgot to move them over to Ken's. What a day, No luck in finding Jane, the owner really had no clue of the area she normally hunts in, but roughly a five mile radius by the sound of things, we searched near the house, where there was a ravine, lots of badger holes, so really it was like looking for a needle in a haystack, my other half came to give us a hand, so thanks to ken, the weather was awful, we were all drenched through, cold, and owl fell in the mud so she was very dirty, perhaps thats why the owner never offered us in for even a cup of tea???Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

BC and I are off to the scene now, not really with a lot of hope of finding Jane today but at least we can take a good look at the terrain and see where she might have gone.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Looks like what we need here is people on the ground for a search party. Owner is poorly, and owner's friend who is helping has arthritis and can't do much on foot. I intend to go over there either this afternoon or early tomorrow, problem is we only have limited daylight and it is the kind of terrain you can't mess around in at dusk. Waiting to hear from owner herself. Meanwhile if there is anyone around Carmarthen/Llandeilo/Llandovery area who is able to get there and help search, please get in touch with owner's friend, the number given at bottom of thread.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just been talking to the owner's friend - owner is poorly with bronchitis, and unable to go out searching so friend is assisting. Jane went out with 2 other terriers, the other 2 came back and she didn't. Owner knows roughly where Jane usually hunts, but it is full of holes and old badger setts. I've spoken to the Fell and Moorland representative who was very supportive but can't do much until we can get a good idea of where Jane is. There aren't many members in this area, so it would be a long way to come unless we know what we are doing. We also can't rule out Jane having been picked up and kept by someone as jackies are very much in demand round here. I am going to talk to owner's friend again, may end up driving over there myself if it would help, it is about an hour from me.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoken to owner today, unfortunately there is not a photo available, so will have to do posters without it, lets hope the Fell and Moorland people can help, the owner says that she often goes off hunting, but normally returns the next day, but perhaps because she has put on weight she has become stuck down a hole, hope she stays safe xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner is ringing me tomorrow morning. She suspects Jane may be stuck down a bunny hole somewhere local as she likes to go hunting. This is a very rural area. I will be calling the Fell and Moorland people first thing tomorrow for advice, hope they have members around here. Jane has only one pup, who is thankfully 7 weeks old so on solids but doubtless missing its mum. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as photo is received helpers in the area can be emailed posters with her picture on. Poster as many places as possible i.e. lamposts, local shops. Hand out smaller posters to people and dog walkers. A lot of animal centres are closed for the holiday period but may have phones manned. Hope Jane turns up safe and sound soon. Cheers Jan (Liverpool) xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
