So sorry to see that Hera didn't make it home safely. My thoughts are with her family. I strongly believe fireworks should be banned - with the possible exception of Nov 5 and even then I am not really in favour.

Thank you all for your kind words. Hera was only 5yo. The driver of the car that hit her did stop but Hera did not. She was so scared of that firework that she kept running while obviously seriously injured. RIP Hera, special fury girl:(

Absolutely heartbreaking - am in tears here. I am so very sorry that Hera never made it home, but it would appear that she was trying hard to. My thoughts are with the family at this terribly sad time. Run free at the bridge, beautiful Hera, and many thanks to the kind lady who found her. And yes, I too agree that all fireworks should be banned xxxx

Fireworks are a total menace and need banning

Thank you everyone. It is very upsetting - Hera was a rescue that Ewa adopted few years ago from Poland. She already got lost once by a busy motorway as she run out of the courier van that was transporting her to UK. She was found safe then thanks to DogsLost. But she did not make it this time poor baby. Fireworks should be banned completely or only ever used by licensed people for official displays. What was someone thinking shooting fireworks just like that in a public park? Fireworks killed Hera :(
Thank you for moving to Rainbow Bridge. I did not see that option last night.Last edited: 2015-02-18 09:00:18 by anka

I clicked on "reunited" and it was painful filling details in. I could not see an option to select "found dead" only "date reunited with owner", very very painful. And also the link I shared now says "this dog has been reunited with owners" when clicked on from FB - again, so painful RIP Hera :(Last edited: 2015-02-18 01:27:07 by anka

Just had a message from Ewa. Hera is dead. She was found by a woman coming back home - Hera was curled up by her front door, not far from where she lived with Ewa. The woman called Ewa as her number was on the collar. RIP HeraLast edited: 2015-02-18 01:04:49 by anka

Just to clarify - I posted here for my friend, Hera is not my dog, she belongs to Ewa who posts here as "minia".
The dog in Basingstoke has been found way before Hera went missing, Hera went missing at around 5:30pm on the 17th February and in TW postcode.
Glad someone found the poor dog tied up in the woods, poor dog... Hope they find whoever has done it.
Hera is still missing, she is very timid and may not come when called. She may also be injured and this is what worries us the most.
I have called vets in the area where she went missing, called Police (voicemail as they were closed), called dog warden (again they were closed), posted here and on FB. Ewa keeps on going back near the park and calling Hera but so far no sign of her. Hera is spayed, microchipped and had a leather collar with an ID tag and Ewa's mobile number on it. She has a little tear on top of her left ear. I stated she is sable but you can see on the photo she is not quite b;lack and tan but not quite sable either - closer to sable I guess
Thank you everyone for all your help xxLast edited: 2015-02-18 00:32:49 by anka

I shared the poster to FB but it does not show Hera's photo - no idea why?

Hope Hera comes back, and I'm so shocked that she was struck by a car! As she is an older dog, there is a more likely chance of her returning home x
