How awful that incorrect information on Facebook has prevented people carrying on the search for Skye. ...Let's start sharing and searching again peeps...Let's get Skye back with John, her owner! xLast edited: 2015-05-14 08:32:09 by Jaycey
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
I've now had a reply from Richard who has again spoken with John, Skye's owner, and John has not heard anything about Skye's whereabouts. Skye is still very much missing, so please disregard the incorrect rumours posted below which appear to have come from a community FB page, and continue to search for Skye and spread the word. Thanks!
ellie04
Hi hazebella, I don't often see him but when I do I will ask him and post on here. From what he told me the other day he has no clue of her whereabouts :(
Unknown
Hi ellie04, any way of actually asking the owner direct to clarify if the comments re asking rescue etc as below are correct ? many thanks x
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
I've messaged Richard on FB hoping he'll be able to clarify whether Skye has/hasn't been found and what the latest situation is. Fingers crossed he gets back to me and it's good news! x

on Richard Banks' facebook it says..Below is a photo of a similar dog, that I found on-line. Unfortunately I don't have any photos of Skye to share. Obviously John doesn't have a computer, so please, if you have any information at all, contact me on Facebook.

Just been looking at the picture of this dog on spotted in Stevenage Facebook page and it is different to the dog shown on the doglost picture. On the doglost description it says picture shows actual dog, does this mean that the picture on Facebook is incorrect?Last edited: 2015-05-02 21:58:05 by Chilebat

Have read the updates from yesterday and now confused as she could actually be still missing. If she has been found does anyone know what pounds/rescue places she would go to? Thank you
ellie04
I spoke to him today and he didn't mention any of this, just said he hopes whoever has her is looking after her and prays she's not being used for dog fighting. It's so sad.
sophiesuds
The only info I got was from spotted Stevenage page on Facebook, which states that the dog has been put in rescue, but as his owner was unable to get to the rescue he has had to leave her there. Presumably the rescue is known by him and I think he asked if he could have her back and could they drop her off to him but this was refused evidently. I'm like you disgusted by this action if it's true that the rescue are aware of owner but won't help the guy.
Chilebat
Just found while looking online for the contact mentioned on Dog Lost - Stevenage Haven facebook and a post relating to Sky, is this the Facebook page mentioned on her Dog Lost page or is there another? Someone I guess another follower has today posted on that one asking for further information. Hopefully we will hear something soon!

Ooh how awful..I really hope Skye is still with us...IIs Richard Banks still in touch with Skye's owner?..Could he help with an communication?..We need to find out the full details of where Skye was being kept and if they sent her to a rescue...Soooo sad! :-(Last edited: 2015-04-26 10:01:22 by Jaycey

This is terrible news! I echo Hazel's comment. Does anyone know where the dog was to be collected from and does anyone know where this dog is at this time?

Are we too late to help get his dog back? Is there anything we can do to put it right?x
sophiesuds
Evidently after posting on a local Facebook page, it seems that Skye was found but the homeless guy couldn't afford to pay to get her from wherever she was and couldn't get to the place where she was being held either. So from what I can gather nobody offered to help him and the dogs warden/kennels/rescue weren't going to return Skye to him as he had no means of transport to get her! Such a caring world we live in. If I had known about the outcome I would have helped somehow.

I'm wondering if this scumbag makes this journey often and is a regular on this line for one reason or another. Have posters been put up in this station and perhaps along the route somewhere. Are there any helpers that live along this route that could put a poster up in the stations along this route?
Jaycey
I'm surprised The Mirror newspaper hasn't run a story on this ....They do a lot of animal stories and campaigns against animal cruelty...This needs to be made national..People will know that man!!!!
Ellie
Somebody must recognise this scumbag.Somebody should remember him in the stations and on the train. I don't travel on trains very often but I think that I would remember seeing this if I had been there. A man carrying a dog and getting on a train with a dog with what looks like quite a distinctive dog coat should jog someones memory!
AlisonH
The photo above is an actual photo of Skye with the person who allegedly stole her. It was taken from CCTV footage.
skyninchar
Is the stolen mans dog actually on doglost as a lost dog so we can see for sure what the dog actually looks like
Ellie
In the description of Skye it says that she has two rear white paws and greying/white round muzzle. It doesn't mention two white front legs and a white 'stripe' down her head/snout! So this is still very confusing. Has the owner of Skye seen this picture with the alledged thief and confirmed that it is Skye? If not then I do believe that someone should show him the photo so that he can confirm that it is Skye or not! Also could they ask him if she was wearing the coat that is in the photo?Last edited: 2015-03-25 22:46:44 by Ellie
AlisonH
Now confirmed that the extra image is of a similar dog so will remove it as it is causing confusion.
Viv B
Just noticed on the Stevenage Haven (author Richard Banks) site, a post of a different pic - however, the person who posted said it was a pic of a similar dog only.
AlisonH
Does anyone know who sent in the second photo and where they got it from?
AlisonH
I have sent an email to Ros who registered Skye asking for clarification.
BMdevon
The dog in the new photo and the dog the man is carrying are clearly not the same dog... !? White paws on the dog being carried and a white mark down its head and much pointier face. Bit odd this one?
Ellie
The dog that I have just seen with the soft toy is nothing like the one in the photo with the man! As someone has already said, the one with the man has white legs and a white line down his snout/head which Skye doesn't seem to have!
Gino
new photo loaded...refresh to see.

Shelagh/admin - I've emailed you a photo of the original
Shelagh
Jayne the photo was on the original dog lost poster for 'Skye'. It was then replaced by photo of guy with dog. Its one of 'Skye' with teddy. I can't share from Facebook as blocked. Maybe somebody else has it.
Ellie
The dog in the photo clearly has a coat on. Did Skye have a coat like this when she went missing? If not then it would be highly unlikely that this man would just happen to have a coat like this in his pocket to fit her!It appears to be quite a distinctive coat so surely this would ring a bell for somebody.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Can you send us a link to this photo please? and where its been posted.
Shelagh
There seems to be some confusion as pic being posted of 'Skye' is nothing like one above. 'Skye has white t shape on chest Greg muzzle and rear paw tips white. Rest dark brindle. One above has white legs
Jaycey

One thing I don't understand is on the photo above it seems like dog has white line on face but I didn't think SKYE had any white on face? There is a dog for sale in Houghton Regis that looks similar face markings to this one, so would help if clarified.

The picture I believe is from cctv at the train station. The train he got on with the dog was heading for Letchworth.

I have notified the North herts dog warden, and the three rivers district council dog warden also to make them aware of Skye too just in case.
skyninchar
i did read on original post of this picture above that several people knew the guy and the police were informed, if true, hopefully wont be long x
michs1980
Can I ask please - someone below has said this person has been seen with the dog getting onto a train? Has National Rail or the Police checked CCTV at stations of where trains around that time will have been heading? I am sickened by this - that poor man has enough to deal with other than this and sadly I think I know why this dog has been taken!
sophiesuds
I made the Stevage dog warden aware of SKYE missing at the beginning, by email but never got a reply or anything. Have checked online the local rescues that Stevenage use from warden and others in area but nothing to date but haven't done Letchworth so will tonight. Did see on another site that the person concerned has been named but not 100% on that. The microchip I believe is registered to Skye's previous owner who is contactable and is aware of SKYE missing etc.

http://www.thecomet.net/news/search_widens_for_staffie_stolen_from_homeless_man_outside_poundland_in_stevenage_1_3997275?utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=twitterfeed

A CCTV image has been released today after a dog was stolen from a homeless man in Stevenage.

It shows a man the police want to speak to in connection with the theft of the female black and white Staffordshire bull terrier from outside Poundland in the town centre.

She was stolen when the dog’s owner tied her up outside the store in Queensway while he went inside at 2pm back on February 2.

The police believe the animal was then taken on a train travelling towards Letchworth.

PCSO Anne Charters is investigating and said: “We are extremely keen to find this man, as we believe he may have information about the whereabouts of the dog.

“The staffie has been a constant companion to its owner and went everywhere with him. Obviously the owner is extremely upset about the disappearance of his dog and is desperate for her safe return.

“We believe the dog may have been taken on board a train at Stevenage train station shortly after it was taken. The train was headed for Letchworth.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Make a formal request to the owner of the CCTV, to view the footage. There should be a form on the web cam owner's web page explaining how to do this.

I believe the police have been asked to check cctv but they weren't very helpful I'm afraid,.
Georgie
Has anyone asked if the cctv picked up images? Be worth a try. I don't have Facebook or anything, so can't contact Richard. I have seen this lovely dog with her man, and will continue to look out for her. Don't give up!
sophiesuds
This dog has been missing before the 10th March, if I remember correctly she was missing from about the 6th March,. I have notified the appropriate dog warden last week to make them aware but had no response. I have also managed to message Richard Banks but never got a reply either so may help to get a phone number for someone if she is found to let the guy know who has lost her.
sophiesuds
The original post was on spotted Stevenage. There are two blogs one started today that states reward etc and that has the proper picture on it I believe. Some are stating she is black but she is I think dark brindle, with white marking on her chest. I think the photo you had up originally with teddy was the correct one as it's the original owners photo of her.

Alerts sent to helpers in SG1-4.
Admin
Sorry to see that SKYE PHOTO WITH PERSON WHO ALLEGEDLY STOLE HER is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (84063)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
