First time I've been able to get on here for ages and I went straight to Monty on lost dogs......he wasn't there!!! I dared hope for a brilliant surprise and there he was.......home after all this time!! I can stop worrying about him now and looking out for him every day, even when I was on holiday. Well done Doglost and everyone involved! :-)))
NickyB
this, for me, is the best ever doglost reunited story, but I am very disappointed the media coverage does not give credit to doglost - without them monty would not be home. I could say a lot more but its best not. just sooooo happy for monty and his family

Monty the terrier sniffed out the tumour in my neck

Martin Kelly, 71, was diagnosed with throat cancer after his dog Monty, a miniature bull terrier, kept licking his neck. Martin and his wife Linda, 71, live in Essex.

He came to us in March 2013 and settled in almost straight away. Though he was Linda's dog really, he followed me around all the time.

In the evening, when I was watching TV, he had this habit of hopping up beside me and licking my neck.
I noticed I had a small raised swelling where Monty licked me. I thought maybe he had passed on some germs that had caused it, but I wasn't worried as I didn't feel ill and it wasn't tender. It was only the size of a thumbnail. In May 2013, however, I had to go to the doctor about some trivial medical matter and while I was there I asked her if she would take a look at my neck. I was surprised when she said that I should go straight to hospital to see an ear, nose and throat specialist.

I saw the words 'Urgent' on my notes, and when you see that, you start to think the worst.

He did it virtually from the first day he arrived, always licking the same spot on the right side. They sent me for a biopsy, then I had to go in and see the consultant. It was throat cancer. When they say the word 'cancer', you panic, but it had been caught at the earliest stage. On hearing the news, my wife and I hugged each other and had a little cry, but then I thought: 'I have to get through this.' What was so encouraging was that they said they could cure it. When I got home, Monty was there to comfort me. He kept me going throughout my treatment - it was as if he knew I needed that bit more support.

In June 2013, I had surgery to remove the tumour, followed by chemotherapy and 45 days of radiotherapy.

It was pretty gruelling, but Monty motivated me to get out of the house, because I still walked him every day. And if it hadn't been for him, I'd have had no idea there was anything wrong until the cancer was much more advanced. Thankfully, the doctors say I'm clear of cancer and I have regular scans. It was such a relief to come out the other side. I thought we had done with adversity, but then, in March this year, Monty disappeared while I was out walking him. It was devastating.

We tried all the lost dog charities and put up posters, but I think we'd given up hope of ever having Monty home again. Then, last month, we got a call to say the police had received a tip-off and they thought they had found Monty. We just couldn't believe it. He came back a bit smelly, but as soon as he heard our voices he perked up. It was a very emotional day for us all.

When I look back now, it's as if Monty was supposed to come into our lives - if he hadn't, then I might not be here.

He was a ten-month-old pup when we got him, from a friend in Spain who was leaving the country.

Despite having dogs all our lives, Linda and I had decided not to get another one because of our age, but one look at Monty and we offered to have him.

Article in today's Daily Mail Good Health section about amazing Monty and his owner! X
#stoppettheft
I have just been reading the previous comments - Gosh, HOW hard you've all worked
Altho' my 'name' isnt down there on the list of 'helpers' I DID Type Monty & Birkbeck soooo many times on Twitter - just like so many others.
XX
I really hope Monty is making s speedy recovery - poor boy :(
It just makes me wonder WHY? STEAL a Dog & then chain it up & neglect it to the point that it has Fleas ?:(
of course, WHY steal in the first place --
as i've said Before, there seems to be an Opportunist Pet Thief on every Street Corner these days, Rural areas included, nowhere is safe from them .
I really hope the Police 'name & shame' & Courts Punish them as HARSHLY as poss.

So agreed with you NickyB… I’ll never understand humans either…
However, I’m really happy for Monty back with his family. Well done, to every single one, whoever worked tirelessly or just got the word out there for Monty through Fb groups and Twitter.
Keep up the good work… x

A photoshoot is arranged tomorrow with local guardian and chingford times. Also daily mail want interview with martin beginning of September. Myself and Nicky by spent many hours on phone voicing our frustration with media, lack of coverage. But now we have media attention we can promote what a fantastic partnership dog lost and Essex police have. Hopefully more police forces link with us,we become far more credible with police support.and with wonderful support and media Essex police have gained through Montys return they will be more than willing to help us again
ClaireC
Well done both Nicky and Shelagh. You both worked tirelessly and it all paid off. X
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
..tx Veronica...although Nicky could not get coverage at the beginning...press looking through the posts have realised how important this is and what good work Shelagh and Nicky did...so next time we have contacts through Nickys hard work!
Veronica
I was thinking the same NickyB. Seems like a dog returned is bigger news than a dog lost, when someone else has done all the hard work to find him.
Still, anything that highlights the ridiculous increase in dog theft is welcome.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
I know how it feels Nicky! but well done you and in the end your call to me got the result...hopefully through this we can get more coverage when needed the next time! you and Shelagh have been brilliant with the owners!

Agreed Nicky, if only they would cover the stories of the owners searches....there is a petition here for a national petwatch programme, needs 2500 more signatures https://www.change.org/p/we-want-a-petwatch-tv-programme-animal-crimewatch

I have a list of the papers I wrote to national and local - and the celebrities I wrote to with montys story and appeal for their help. mail on sunday only 1 who went an interviewed montys owner about 9 sundays ago and never published his story....... when we needed them they were all a waste of time - I will never understand humans. I didn't email or txt or phone I wrote letters with a copy of montys doglost poster. it doesn't matter now - he is home at last

How frightening that must have been for Monty and his owners having to rush to the Vets. Gosh what a terrible shock on top of so much joy. Just goes to show how this poor dog has been affected by this - those thieves have got a lot to answer for. Look at the lives that have been harmed because of their actions. Let's hope sweet little Monty gets his strength back very soon...
Now for the happy bit..... I think God was smiling on Monty & Martin today, he knew how much these two love each other and so got various things moving to bring this about. We are so lucky, it happened. CJ did great, Essex police came through for us, NickyB has done amazingly well and Shelagh, I have seen your tireless work first hand along with your love and devotion to Monty, Martin and Linda. You never gave up; you have been awe inspiring. This is your victory, Shelagh. Well done indeed.

OMG!!!!!!Monty has been found safe and well. After info given to dog lost, Essex police retrieved Monty from undisclosed location. A thousands thanks to the two amazing officers who took care of MMonty and brought him back to Martin and Linda. Words cant describe the feeling of knowing Martin and Monty are back together. Little Monty when he realized he was with martin was just something I'll never forget. His little tail was wagging so much he nearly fell over. And inside house after initial running around run straight to place where his ball was kept. I personally would like to thank everybody whose helped in search for Monty and kept interest going. Dog lost and Essex police what a team. An amazing job done by all. It really does mean so much to many people but none so much as Martin and Linda.xxxxxxxxx

Martin ,owner, feels the dog for sale is not Monty He is going to take another look just to be sure as the 'for sale' dog is very similar.
NickyB
another good reason to neuter your dog - if lost or stolen can be used for breeding and making a small fortune - just looked at bull terriers for sale - 1 looking so like monty £500...... if only everyone used the internet - but many don't so many people, despite our efforts, don't know montys story. the medium I visited cant tell me anything sadly.
nicolapicola
I don't think it is him - doesn't look like a miniature and markings, although v similar are not exactly right (left foreleg black marking not low enough - compare with length of white leg in poster). Just doesn't seem quite like him in the face, either (I have met him). A pity, but worth a look, perhaps? They say he "must come visit him" re prospective buyers, so it doesn't sound as though they have anything to hide.
Shelagh
Thanks I have looked at him he is very similar to monty. I think maybe white at top of nose is not so full. I will ask owner to confirm

Good luck Nicky BY as I said to you Monty is a dog with special senses,if he can detect cancer in his owner I'm sure something will come through from him keeping everything crossed for positive info on this sweet boy. Gave out 25 flyers at Thurrock services.
NickyB
going to see a medium next week who takes special interest in animals. not sure as monty is not mine how much I will learn but still searching for him every way we can. the press and tv have all simply not taken up his story - owner not a cute kid dog not a cute dog .....? cant understand reason why when 2.6m shared and viewed on harveys army page so clearly of great human interest
Linda

nicolapicola
Thanks, Kimmy - the revamped poster is a great improvement.
NickyB
suggestion - put posters up inside windows - cars, shops, peoples houses, vets etc and not on street where council/morons remove them
Shelagh
Have given another 50 flyers out at Loughton Broadway. Monty must be somewhere,we just have to keep going.

Please can I remind helpers that no one must call owner at this time - DogLost's Shelagh is the point of contact, or the Admin number. Shelagh is always in touch with owner's wife. Thank you. I so wish Monty would get home. Its all so sad. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
It is not always possible to amend the posters because of the way the system is made. If I make it so the poster just has Monty's name, as I will do now, it will be removed for this page as well and so it won't stand out for anyone looking at the site. I can do that for a bit if that helps. Secondly, I cannot make the wording any bigger under the photo so it will not be obvious that owner has illness unless someone reads the small print. I'll do what I can to assist but it does state Monty is minature. Finally, I do understand but this is the photo that Monty's owner wanted on the page. I'll have a dabble but am restricted somwhat.Thank you.
nicolapicola
Can admin advise on how to amend a poster? It just needs to say:

MINIATURE (15 in/40 cm high) BLACK AND WHITE ENGLISH BULL TERRIER LOST/STOLEN FROM CHINGFORD E4 MARCH 2015 - PLEASE HELP, OWNER IS TERMINALLY ILL AND DESPERATE TO GET HIS DOG BACK. REWARD OFFERED - NO QUESTIONS ASKED. and the relevant contact numbers
Shelagh
Thanks for postering nicolapicola. Some are still up in walthamstow market area. We fight battle with street services regarding posters. I'm not sure how we can amend poster I am not good at those things . I may have different poster without scarf on,would that help it is black and white. Handed out 50 flyers at Maldon with Dogwatch scheme on Friday. Dogs trust have a load and will share round there Facebook.
NickyB
I agree Nicola - I wish also photo had monty without red scarf then why u r photocopying loads of posters its clearer image of him, and black/white is cheaper. all the dozens of letters I have written to dozens of animal loving celebrities TWO responses - liz jones and paul o grady and both useless. Liverpool sunday 5 july freshfields animal rescue has open day attracts thousands - so handing out flyers and make announcement if poss
nicolapicola
Yesterday postered a little in some lead-in roads to Walthamstow Market (inhibited by the great number of street cleaners who are under instruction from above to remove all posters) and same evening got a message from my sister that her friend had seen the posters and was going to publicise it on some local website (I think). Also did some of Blackhorse Road, Courtenay Rd and Edward Road, Coppermill Lane from end of Edward Road to the marshes - along the path through the marshes and bridge over to what I think is Springfield Café by the Lea. Handed out some flyers to dog walkers. The 3 people in the café very interested and one was going to get the cafe owners to put up the poster too. Sister reports this morning that posters are still up. I really think the poster could do with some revision - it doesn't say dog lost from Chingford or E4 and that is practically the first question anyone asks me. The other major, major thing is it is really NOT obvious that Monty is miniature (almost no-one notices this when reading over the poster)- I think it could do with less text and more important features pointed up. I even had one person read it and think it was Monty that was terminally ill. Less is more, really, when people are in a rush.
Shelagh
Gave out 50 flyers west fields Stratford.

Oh, I see - I was misinformed perhaps. The man I spoke to said he knew Martin because he was a black cab driver and that after his initial illness he had gone back to doing a bit of cab driving (until he got ill again, I assumed). Anyway, good to hear the cabbies are on the lookout.
Shelagh
Hi Nicolapicola It is Montys owners son who is a black cab driver. He has shared info about monty with his cabbie friends
Stephy
REShared on Facebook with a plea for everyone to share and maybe find someone on radio or in TV station to take up the cause.
nicolapicola
I have just discovered Monty's owner is a black cab driver. I was wondering if it would be possible to encourage the black cab drivers to look out for Monty. (I heard this from another Chingford dog owner who himself drives a cab, I believe). Not sure who to approach (unless Martin knows) - isn't there a cab drivers' association or is that just for formal licensing purposes?
Shelagh
Handed out a lot of flyers at asda beckton today. A number of people said they would add him to their Facebook page
Shelagh
Fantastic Nicolapicola. Tomorrow hand out some flyers east ham way. Central Park.

Just postered Seven Sisters Road by Finsbury Park station, bottom of Finsbury Park plus close to both entrances, a bit of Woodberry Down, Seven Sisters Rd from Woodberry Down to Tottenham High St, putting a poster each down residential side streets on the way, Tott High St past what I think is the Town Hall? University and green there then all the way down the road down to Tott Hale. I only saw 2 dogs in all that time and only had one conversation with an interested passer by but it was probably a bad time of day. Fingers crossed. I'll do Walthamstow/Blackhorse Road as much as I can next week.
Unknown
Snhelagh. Will do. all xd.
Shelagh
Yes guys, wherever you're going at weekend please put poster up for monty . He could be anywhere
NickyB
if anyone following monty could pls contact their local tv station or paper or celebrity or write to anyone famous they think might pick up his story it would be great. not one person/tv/radio I have approached has acted except mail on sunday who interviewed montys owner 6-7 weeks ago and never publish anything...I keep flyers on me 4 to a sheet so only small and give/post them to everyone I meet or write to - nearby tatton park is grest as it attracts lots of dogs. next week we 2 day Cheshire show. cant give up...!

Just checking
Shelagh
I'm afraid we tried all media outlets several times a few weeks after Monty went missing.Nobody was really interested in his story, media wise. Nicky b has continued to try and pressure well known dog lovers and media to take up Montys story. We keep fingers crossed we get break through to find Monty.
Jaycey
This would make a really good appeal for Monty on Sky news..It could be the same scenario as Caramel and someone has bought Monty in good faith, but doesn't have Facebook or Twitter to see he is a missing dog x

Twenty more posters added hatch lane 'parade of shops'. Petrol station opposite, longshaw school ,Whitehall school and surrounding roads.
Shelagh
Postered forest land opposite Brooke road. Through to Friday hill/hatch round about. Also some posters chingdale and blue house roads.
NickyB
heartbreaking but sunday 10 may and absolutely no clues or news about monty
Shelagh
Posters were put around Friday hill about three weeks ago. I haven't checked if they are still there. Any help repostering would be much appreciated.
nicolapicola
Just back from trip abroad and checked in to see how Monty search doing. I do think that the "miniature" status should be put in the title heading of this/poster, perhaps instead of the "mainly" as it is not immediately clear to anyone that Monty is a very small boy (I've met him twice)and this is perhaps the most distinctive thing about him that hits you when you see him. I don't have any work booked for a couple of weeks (and am hoping very much that doesn't change) so can go out looking again. Has anyone checked Friday Hill estate as that is not too far from the Larkswood Medical Centre where there was a possible sighting a few weeks back??
Shelagh
Nothing at moment.

Any news?
Shelagh
Re my post 4/5 to Kjane 85. Owner has contacted me to say monty DOES NOT have an all white leg. Both front legs are the same. Apologies for any confusion.

I was walking from my son's to my car when I passed him I will see if my son can keep a look out as obviously local to him. Good luck with the thunderbolt etc. I too am willing you a swift and happy ending x

Shelagh
Thank you all so much for trying to get Monty home. Martin and Linda are truly grateful and we are all a little emotional. I understand there is a thunderclap arranged but can't remember date. Also kjane 85 I have been told by owner that Monty is quite unusual in appearance because he has a completely white right leg,a white tip to hius tail and is miniature 12-14 inches high

Has there been a 'Thunderclap' organised for him ? That might help also ? Will of course share his info anyway.

How unusual are the black and white Bull Terriers I passed on being walked in Tunbridge Wells on Sat eve and thought he was unusual as the ones I have seen are usually white or with a small patch of black, this one was really similar to Monty. Is it possible he could have been taken from your area? Sorry have not read all the posts.

Well done everyone. I have ssen the story in the Chingford Times, amazing coverage including a mention for DogLost. Good photo too. Well done, Shelagh. I understand Shelagh is waiting for this to go in the Advertiser also, as previously planned, because it is very strange that no one has come forward with news of Monty. The Advertiser should get delivered free to every house and we hope everyone reads it! As has been said, something really should come to light soon. You are such wonderful people. Owner is very grateful. I also think Shelagh needs a new pair of shoes, poor girl! I don't know how she keeps on walking. x

Update on media. Local paper did an on line article week after Monty went missing. Mail on Sunday interviewed and photographed Montys owner but article was never published. Yellow advertiser, ( free paper), are publishing article this Friday. Have tried metro, evening standard etc. Totally lost when it comes to tweets etc

much better for things to be done twice 3 times or even 4 than not all.i do my thing regardless, then I know it has been done at least once. by repeated requests to same person would probably be more effective too. go for it all you doglost folk especially the twitter and tweeters, as I have no idea how to do that!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure if this has already been done, Has anyone tweeted Jill Franks a QVC presenter, her dog Scruncher who is on doglost went missing last year and is still missing? I do not tweet, but on QVC UK website if you go to the presenter blogs and go into her page on the right hand side is the tweet address, on her tweet feed people are posting their missing dogs and she retweets the post and seems to have lots of famous tweet friends! Apologies if this has already been done it was just a thought.

Just an idea but Diana Vickers (famous singer and actress) recently lost and found her lovely dog. She was registered on dog lost (reunited 84998). it has stated on Biggies facebook page that the facebook page will stay open to help other lost dogs. Her dog now has its on twitter page and she has shared some other lost dogs on her page. Her partner George Craig is also famous and has done the same. Simon Cowell, Olly Murs and Little Mix shared her beautiful dogs page. Does anyone know how to put Monty on Diana Vickers/her partner George Craig or Biggies page? They are based in London. I'm afraid I don't have a clue about technology. I so hope Monty is found soon x

Monty's owner has found another dog but his is still missing. (I am amazed at how many times this happens when searching for dogs). Welcome home to Cracker. Now let's get Monty. Well done everyone, you are wonderful. x Last edited: 2015-04-14 00:34:53 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

It's not an area I'm too familiar with and must have got the wrong road for the park but I did find the coop yesterday and a had a good scout around the area. Plenty of dogs out and about but sadly no Monty. I will try again today. Will also put poster in car as suggested if I can borrow a friends printer!
nicolapicola
You are a star, Shelagh! Wish I could help more often but found myself too exhausted today after walking 6 and half miles yesterday looking (got to be lively enough for work tomorrow morning). Fingers very much crossed for Monty.
Shelagh
Added twenty five posters to Waltham road, latching on and side roads. Also side entrances to Ashton playing fields. Replaced posters taken down junction snakes lane/Chigwell road. A dog has been posted in found by Linda f/b. Have asked martin to check as similarities to monty.
Shelagh
Thanks for update on 'ace'. That is great news. Reference month, the wardens have all been notified and unfortunately after initial report it is impossible to get through to them as they have your details logged. SDK pick up for Redbridge and that is searched twice daily, also w.forest have twitter account for any found dogs which is monitored by w.forest for dogs.Re. the sighting outside Ashton fields,I think if the dog seen was month he was walking ahead of his 'owner'. That place is too busy that time of day for a stray not to have been picked up. The co-op etc is being monitored daily. I am up there twice a day and have a friend who lives local who drives up there frequently. Also martin goes there as well.
nicolapicola
Shelagh: I just texted with owner of "Ace" yesterday as I saw his notice on Whitehall Plain next to the one about Monty when I was walking my own dog. He told me he HAS the dog back already, thanks to Martin. I'm going to take his notices down next time I'm there. I'll txt him again re updating doglost. Re: the search in Woodford Bridge - maybe (if not already being done) owner should regularly contact dog wardens for Redbridge and Epping Forest as well as Waltham Forest in case he turns up with them. I am not sure that all three are being checked with. I also thought that, as little Monty may have been taken back by whoever had him and not managed to escape for long, it would be sensible for anyone who had time (I work full time, unfortunately) to keep a watch on the Co-op in the morning on a weekday or the playing fields area around 4.00 pm onwards in case that's the time when he is generally out and about. Whenever I can get there again I'll report back.

Thanks so much could you send it by email to admin@dog lost.co.uk if you could add details of where found etc,I'm sure they will make a found page,.
Linda
I did take a screen shot of the dog in Sennelys Park who would I send it to.
Shelagh
Yes thank you for clarification. So glad you saw owner of 'cracker' hope he is OK. Martin found his dog and phoned me for advice. When taken to vets his details came up,but couldn't find owner. Dog was taken to silent paws. Poster was seen in forest and when martin phone guy said his dog was renamed 'ace'. Update is dog is being held by original rescue for 'vetting' as they were not notified of his 'missing status'. Cracker is registered as found on dog lost,if you see owner plz ask him to update dog lost. I hope he gets his dog back
nicolapicola
Yes, saw them still at entrance but I bet loads of residents just go in through one of the alleys and back same way and don't use the main entrance to the playing fields. Housing area I meant was Waltham Road (running along side of playing fields) and roads turning off it which stretch up the hill on same side of Chigwell Rd, just to be a bit more precise! The place where the children were playing was a cul-de-sac called Latchingdon Close. Just been in communication with another Chingford dogowner whose dog was lost on Easter Sunday very close to where Monty went missing (I think he just ran away) and he told me that Martin (Monty's owner) had been the person who found his dog for him.
Shelagh
Thanks nicolapicola, just returned myself. Have added more outside shops again,as they are removed almost daily. Have added more posters to Turpins lane tomswood road and cross road. Also outside guide dog Centre and claybury nature reserve. Pub will not allow poster. Have added more outside Ashton playing fields as two taken down. Also noticed one on noticeboard riding regional park gone, but had run out of posters. Did not know of estate there but will put posters up that way tomorrow. Regarding posters in playing fields we were told only by entrance. I suppose I can put some up anyway.
nicolapicola
Just been over to Woodford Bridge and spent two hours probably covering most of the same ground Shelagh did and saw her posters - ones along the walk by the Roding excellent and one dogwalker I spoke to had just read one. I particularly walked around the housing estate that lies between the back of the Co-op (there is an alley that leads out of it to the Co-op area) and the Ashton Playing Fields. I thought that if Monty was in or around the playing fields he was most likely to have got there from this housing estate as several alleys lead onto the playing fields from the bottom road (Waltham Way) in this estate. This is still my most suspicious area for whoever took him as the houses are a bit mixed but do include some very seedy-looking ones with occupants to match. I spoke to some dog-walkers. Stupidly forgot to take more posters - think it could do with more along the shopping street and ?in the pubs???? and the housing estate in question. Perhaps some actually right in the playing fields would be good (on the trees by the houses?). I missed the opportunity to ask some children playing on the estate as I expect children who play outside are quite likely to have noticed a dog like Monty and who he was with. If I get a chance tomorrow, my Chingford neighbour and doglover has offered to run me over to Woodford Bridge again in her car for another look around.

Just seen a post on english bull terrier lovers facebook page of a dog found in Sennelys Park, very hungry, trying to find more details there is a picture of him on there

Walked and paste red the trail walk, riding regional park. This is virtually alongside Ashton playing fields. Whilst impossible to search I had a two hour walk round armed with a whole hot chicken. Postered monk am lane, monk am pub, buckhurst way,and hillside up to woodford station. Also postered rays park snakes lane. Gave out posters to four professional dog walkers who said they would add monty to their Facebook page.

Yes weimlover, that the correct one. There is an item left from original missing site. Could get owner to leave another at Ashton tomorrow, but he definitely not there now. There is a footpath further along towards junction with snakes lane, some kind of region park. That has a canal or something ,that area will need to be searched tomorrow. Had a quick look tonight but as don't know where leads too will need to be done in daylight.

Would it b any help to put an item of Monty's owner's nice 'smelly' clothing in the area He has been sighted & poss. a Humane Trap - Am sure He just wants to be reassured by 'smells' he recognises & will soon turn up x
Shelagh
Thanks so much Kimmybear for posting. Montys owner received a phone call around 4 today from a guy who said he had just seen Month at Ashton playing fields, only realizing hewas missing when he saw a poster a little further along.MMontys owner went out to Ashton playing fields and searched all over with no luck. He received another call from same guy asking if he had found dog. On discovering that dog was not 'found',he said dog was hovering outside gates of Ashton playing fields not inside. I have just come back from a two hour drive of surrounding area, unfortunately there is no sign of Monty. Ashton playing fields is woodford bridge/Chigwell road and is just further up from second sighting outside co-op. That whole area is postered since last sighting. Ron will have a drive through when he gets in as he is local to there.

Sighting! Monty alone outside Ashton playing fields this afternoon! Please poster there and keep spreading the word. It is working! You are doing it! So hope this was Monty - its sounds very possible. Praying it is him and he gets home quickly. Report came in via Shelagh who is still out there postering. x
nicolapicola
I left a copy of the poster for my (Chingford) dogwalker today and asked her to spread the word. I also searched the site where Monty went missing a few days afterwards very thoroughly - no chance he got stuck/trapped anywhere in my opinion. I feel sure he was stolen.
Shelagh
Could I ask if anybody has car could you put a poster in car window. This would really help get montys picture circulated. Thanks
Shelagh
There is the river Ching, which I was concerned about as banks are very steep. Martin Montys owner assures me monty frequently went up and down banks with no trouble. Nearest railway probably buckhurst hill or woodford but that fair distance and no access other than station that I could see. Original missing site has been searched repeatedly but it is a field surrounded by forest so guess some will be inaccessible. Also to add month went missing 5 mins from where he lives and knows his way home. Have added 25 more posters to broadmead road up to Chigwell road junction/snakes lane. Couple given to BT drivers and postman round there.

Am working full-time at this time of year but will have a good search of the area at the weekend. I live between Larkswood Med Ctre and the area where he was taken. If I get my motorbike on the road again, might even get to Woodford Bridge too. Meantime, am looking assiduously from the train window as I commute through the area.

An article was in local paper the week monty went missing. Regarding the posters there were still a couple up near medical Centre and one outside school,on Monday. Also still couple on junction Friday hill/Whitehall lane. Its just not possible for me to cover whole area daily to replace posters,as area is just to big..
Lesley21
Very odd about the posters being removed, I've yet to see one!! I live near Larkswood Road and am constantly on the lookout for Monty, I will continue to do so.xLast edited: 2015-04-08 09:58:49 by Lesley21

Replaced three posters that had been removed around medical Centre. They are being taken down by over-zealous street service technicians. (Road sweepers), info obtained from member of public in station red.

Just been reading comments re removal of posters, I believe I'm correct in saying Corporation of London staff will remove them from 'Forest Land'.

In my experience they can be removed for a number of reasons. Council, locals ,or .'finder'. Actually quite a few had gone from various places,Brooke rd,Whitehall road and a number in chingford. Have replaced all to-day. Thanks Ronmaxtye.Last edited: 2015-03-21 21:56:16 by Shelagh

If all the posters had been removed in Chingford Lane (?only), does this imply someone has reason to not want it publicised in that area?

just been along epping new road again, through the forest and round to whitehall road again but nothing, talked to a few dog walkers
nicolapicola
Have been along Whitehall Rd again and saw at least 2 more posters than last time on the stretch I walked, especially pleased to see one at entrance to Whitehall Plain!
Shelagh
Thank you nicolapicola for info. At least 25 posters were put up in Whitehall, road . Bury red chingford plains chingford station and lamp post outside bus station. It seems they are being removed as ones I put in chingford lane have gone as well. I will try replace today. On-line article was in w.forest edition prior to yesterday but has now been moved to epping
nicolapicola
Has anyone postered Chingford & Chingford Station? Monty went missing almost IN Chingford but I only discovered when I saw one unobtrusive poster on the Whitehall Road on Monday and none of the other dogwalkers I meet in Chingford/the forest knew about it. Haven't been up to the station for a few days so maybe it has been done. (Bus station is also a good place to stick a poster - usually on the tree next to the footpath that goes down side of station/bus station. ALSO, online, the newspaper article only appears in the Epping Forest section of the news so if you are a Chingford online reader you will probably miss it.Last edited: 2015-03-20 10:04:13 by nicolapicola

Thanks so much Al.Much appreciated. Kim has kindly done a heap of pestering tonight around buckhurst hill, several vets and local dog walks. Posters up between Leyton /buckhurst hill, stations also walthamstow central, high ams park ,wood street.(postering)

Saw the owner looking for Monty the evening he was lost, just seen the poster up this evening. I didn't spot Monty whilst I was running my dogs down Whitehall Lane, up Whitehall Road, along Epping New Road on the 12th. Two of our family go into central London on the tube, I'll print off some posters for them to take into town. I also ride a motor scooter more or less the run of the Central line to Mile End, next week I'll put up posters outside those stations I pass. Our prayers are with Monty and his family, and a speedy reunion.
