Sounds like you are both doing as much as possible to make sure that Cali is the best known and hottest girl in town. I do hope that your hard work pays off and that she's back home with you very soon.
Luce
Hi Sharon, thank you so much. We saw the posters on our now regular walk around the Mead :-) We've spoken to a lot of the houses now both in the Mead, the Gardens and on Bromley Road. So far there have been no more sightings and we've tried to call for her in the gardens at the back of the nursing home and flats by the alley way. We'd hope that she would come to us if she heard us. We've emailed the school but I don't think we will have any luck with the school until the holidays are over. Hopefully we will get another sighting soon x

Also Luce, I added 'Reward Offered' to the posters xx

Hi Luce, I laminated some posters and put them in The Mead (2), Crescent Road (1), Bromley Road (3), Tree of St Christophers School (1), Oakwood Avenue (2), Perth Road (1), Albermarle Road (3), and Downsbridge Road (2). I also put one in the alley from The Mead through to Bromley Road. From the possible sightings I would think there's a very good chance she's in this area. Will put some more out tomorrow. I also put one in Foxgrove Vets and one in The Jolly Woodman last week. Chin up Luce! Hope you and Matt are okay! xx

If someone from Admin is reading this, would you please bump Cali's page due to 3 possible local sightings. Thanks!

I so hope that the signings are her as it seems likely. And, as you say, that 'orange' stripe down her nose is so unusual and distinctive! Since it seems possible that she's in the area of The Mead, Bromley Road and St Christopher's make sure you pop round the back of Haven Court which is directly next door to St Christopher's school (walk through the gap between the two blocks). Our friend used to live there and so I know that there are animal-lovers amongst the residents. Their bins are also round the back and so, apart from being a relatively quiet communal area, a hungry cat may find the bins attractive. Again, listen at all the garages (there are around 3/4 blocks). Also, I think it would be a good idea to pop flyers through all the flat's doors. I think you will find you can gain access to both blocks BEFORE 11:00/11:30 (can't remember exactly). Hoping the promised better weather gets people out and about and that you get the call that you've been waiting for. All fingers and paws crossed this end!

Hello Luce - thanks for the update. We've just driven that way to and from Sydenham Sainsbury's. We saw Cali's missing posters but no sign of Cali. We also came across many lovely and helpful people during our search for our cat. In fact, I started to keep a list of those people we spoke to who were keen to get involved and who wanted us to let them know when we'd had found him. Involving and speaking to children and young people is a good idea as they notice stuff that adults might miss, especially when it's about missing pets. It's a shame that St Christopher's is closed at the mo but it's likely that there are some staff around including the caretaker, grounds staff or maintenance staff and it's the sort of place a cat might hide. It could be that a new cat has moved into the immediate neighbourhood or that Cali has been spooked or chased by a dog or cat. Several years ago, a friend's cat went missing when she had builders in. Obviously her cat wasn't happy about the noise and disruption and went missing. Some weeks later someone spotted a cat hiding in a storm drain. She was aware that our friend had lost her cat and so alerted our friend, who went there and, to her delight, it turned out to be her missing cat. What was amazing is that her cat wasn't that far from home and yet had become disorientated and/or scared and just didn't have the courage to make his own way home.Last edited: 2015-04-04 19:11:31 by Millys Mum

Hello Sorry for not getting back sooner. Thank you for your advice below. After reading the example of Tinkie we went out again knocking on more doors. I was amazed how friendly a lot of people were and who either let us into their gardens or had checked for her based on our fliers. Because of this we've now had possible sightings. First from a young boy who saw a cat 3 days ago with the same stripe on the nose in the alley leading to the Mead just off Bromley Road. A second sighting two nights ago of a cat jumping from a garden on Bromley Road into St Christopher's School again the cat had a similar marking. and then a third sighting of a tortoiseshell but they didn't see her face running across Bromley Road by the school!! We're going out at different times of day walking around the area calling her but nothing so far. we'll keep on posting fliers and knocking on doors going out from the area she was seen in. The posters and fliers all mention a reward which hopefully will get non cat lovers involved. It could be a coincidence and we could be searching for a lookalike tortie but her stripe is quite distinctive.

As for her routine she always goes out around 6 or when it starts to get dark. She normally would then come in again to eat before being out until about 4am (she normally wakes us up by walking on our heads!). I think this is because she is small and likes to avoid other bigger cats. We didn't think that she could have been adopted because she is a really soppy cat with us and not that friendly with strangers but I do hope that someone is feeding her if she is out there. Thanks for the support hopefully we will get another sighting or we eventually flier someone who may be feeding her or has the lookalike tortie.

Any news or has Cali been found? Luce - would you update Cali's DogLost page so that other local DL Helpers can help. It may be that you are also using Facebook or Twitter but many DL Helpers (including me!) don't use either.

You may also find it helpful to read through the posts of a tabby cat that went missing in West Wickham and who was reunited with her family a few days later. The cat's name is Tinkie Tinkerbell (ID 75616). Also, are you able to offer a reward (don't mention an amount) but, once again, when we were looking for Boris, we immediately offered a reward for his safe return (or information as to his whereabouts that led to him being found). We had been told by the vets that allowed him to escape, that non cat-lovers will also join in the search if a cash bounty is offered. It worked the weekend we were reunited, because we received many calls, although some for the same poor cat called Wilf, who we were called about several times! But we still checked out each and every sighting. Also, in what circumstances did Cali go missing and at what time of day? Is is something she's done before and could she have been taken in or adopted by someone nearby because you know how disloyal some cats can be!! Hoping that this long weekend with people at home, and perhaps doing the gardening, brings about the call you've been waiting for.

Pleased to hear that you found my input useful. This weekend would be a very good opportunity to get out there and speak to as many neighbours and people as you can. When looking for our cat, I changed our home landline message to say that Boris was still missing, that we were probably out looking for him and so to call our mobiles or leave a message for us to pick up on our return. Also a close friend who's also a DL Helper says it's advisable to add a landline number because some people may still find calling a mobile expensive. Also, can I make a suggestion regarding your mobile number. It's always easier to read if it's typed with spaces i.e. 07876 334 182 and it's often more memorable typed that way. Also, the same DL Helper and friend often offers to produce business card sized contact details. As with the mini-flyers, which DL are normally happy to produce and send to your email address, hand them out to all and sundry to carry with them, so that when they spot Cali, they won't have to return to a Missing Poster for contact numbers. And finally, for the time being, when we were looking for our Boris, I made sure ALL helpers had a large photo of Boris to hand to show to everyone they spoke to. Like Boris, your Cali is a very distinctive cat and a large photo (preferably laminated) may help to jog someone's memory. The same friend and DL Helper always says something which is quite true and that is... if you were to spot a dog without an owner, it would be an unusual sight (well, certainly in our area) BUT if you were to see a cat walking through your garden or along the street, you wouldn't automatically assume that it's a lost or missing cat. Thank you Millys Mum for the great advice. I'm so glad you managed to find your cat. Sharon thank you so much for sharing the posters. I really hope we find her soon she is such a sweet cat.

Cali is a beautiful cat who I sit for when her owners are away. I have added this to my FB pages and will poster locally too. Great advice Millys Mum.

I'm so sorry to hear that Cali is missing. Such an unusual-looking cat. Our own cat went missing from Foxgrove Road vets some years ago (he escaped through their kitchen window whilst being treated by a vet!). Fortunately our tenacity (and help from our friends) paid off and we were reunited with him 5 days later. It's REALLY important that you plaster the area with 'Missing' posters (laminated or placed in plastic pockets - opening at the bottom 'sealed' with sellotape to prevent rainwater or condensation getting in). You need to start with putting up 100+ missing posters (and more is even better). Also we made up mini flyers (4 to an A4 page) and posted them through ALL doors, covering a large area i.e. not just Westgate Road. For starters, target Westgate Rd, Glendale Mews and Lankton Close. The Jolly Woodman pub in Chancery Lane are always happy to put up poster as they are animal lovers. Also visit all shops/restaurants/fish and chip shop in the local parade. It would also be wise to call into the Mercedes showroom in Wickham Road as their premises extend to Bromley Road as Cali may be shut in a vehicle or the buildings around the back of their showroom. Another place that would be happy to put up a poster is the Foxgrove Club at the far end of the unmade part of Westgate Road. Once again I know they are animal lovers and their customers (as with the Jolly Woodman) would live nearby. Also (and this is most important), when it's quiet (like now and early morning) creep around the back of the garages on the 2 (or is it 3) blocks of flats along Westgate Road. Take a bowl and fork or box of cat crunchie biscuits, tap the bowl with the fork or shake the box and then WAIT & LISTEN at each and every garage door (the same cat that the vet lost got himself locked in a block of garages at the back of where we live and that's how we located him). We spent up to 20 hours a day (in shifts!) looking for Boris, especially early morning and after dark but eventually we found him (or he found us) trotting up the pathway from the Sloane Hospital 5 days later (we had received a call from a lovely woman with a positive sighting that she had spotted him in her own garden in the unmade up part of Downs Bridge Road and so we concentrated our Sunday searches in that immediate area). And finally, although I expect you've already done it, get a poster into Foxgrove Road vets. Good Luck!Last edited: 2015-04-02 19:28:39 by Millys Mum
