Wow....what a lucky girl to have made it back up safely...probably being small and light meant she bounced whereas a bigger, heavier dog may have not been so fortunate. Best keep Molly on a lead as cliffs are so dangerous ....stay safe and forever close Lucky Molly xx
boxermom
Great ending, welcome home Molly x

Well it can't just have been me that thought this one was going to end differently. I know cats are supposed to have nine lives. How many do dogs have because I think Molly's just deducted one from her allotted number! :D Welcome home Molly !

One very lucky little dog, Thanks for the update Jasper. I agree Jenny4, I wish there were signs along cliff paths warning of the dangers of letting dogs run off lead. This happens much too often.

Molly was found this morning by a lady staying at the camping site at the top of the cliffs. She was walking her own dog when molly appeared beside her and began to follow her. She realised it was MISSING MOLLY and caught her. Molly's owner jane said that untill she set eyes on her she was afraid it wouldn't be her. She is so very pleased to have her safely home and I think also astounded that, having feared the worst ,she has come through her ordeal unscathed. Reunited photo would be lovely x

The distance from Eype to Seatown is less than two miles. Can we organise a walk from each end (subject to tides, etc.)?
DogLostJasper - Area Volunteer, Somerset
Yes poochpal, there is beach at the point molly fell and it looks as if you can walk all the way along to seatown, however, knowledge of the area and tides essential here as I would say she fell at roughly half way point. (I can pinpoint it on google earth) I believe she could have got down from there although of course I haven't viewed it from the beach side.

New photo of Molly added, please refresh the page if similar dog photo is still showing.

Reference the post about abseilers, it might be worth putting out a local radio call and hopefully someone will know someone who belongs to a club or group etc. As a further thought you might like to try to contact 42 Commando at Portsmouth - sorry I don't have any contacts there now - they may just take it on as a training exercise.Last edited: 2015-04-23 21:13:36 by ClaireC

Thank you Jasper, if there is lots of undergrowth then there may be lots of rabbits. Is there access to the area where she landed other than by boat? I do hope she has made her way towards home.
Unknown
Is it possible to get some absaliers (not sure that is spelt right) to abseil down the side of the cliff....... stay safe Molly xx
DogLostJasper - Area Volunteer, Somerset
Walked the coast path around Eype. Posters up in prominent positions along the route from Eype to bridport and the route from Eype to seatown which is where molly went over the cliff. Have spoken to the owner- molly survived the fall and was seen running around at the bottom but had gone before the coast guards could get to her. There is lots of scrubby undergrowth at the point where she fell (just before the steep incline) if anyone is local it would be worth putting up some more posters in the wider seatown- Eype area as she may try and make her way towards char mouth where she lives.

please please be safe lovely Molly xxx

Good golly Miss Molly, hope you are found safe, and well
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Thank you Gnasher for sorting out the photo and updating the page. If anyone in the area from West Bay to Charmouth could print and display posters in shops etc. that would be a great help. Owners have the number for West Dorset dog warden and have been advised to call in case Molly has been found. She is chipped which will help if found.
Inkie's Mum
Shared on FB, hope she's either gone into the sea and come ashore, needing to be found, or is on a ledge, as the cliffs there have many layers and ledges x Stay safe Molly x

It is worth getting in touch with fishermen in the area.
I had a lot of help from some in another area.
Not that it was my dog but they were very helpful.
Good luck
