Twmballyn, I stand corrected if i didnt ask you to come with us, but i really thought i did, you were quite hard to get hold of at that time, so perhaps id intended to call you and couldnt get through, if i didnt ring you it wasnt intentional. With regard to Chyna, as i explained to you on the phone, she is very wrapped up with Chilli, and it consumes nearly every minute of her day, i speak to her on a daily basis, trying to come up with new ideas to try and trace Chilli, all to no avail at the moment, but i do know that she has tried to call you numerous times, and has left messages on your phone, because she rang me to say that you never get back to her. She also knows a friend or relative of yours in the Butchers, and she said that she always asks if there is any news on Lucy and Buster??? The address we went to, they actually had a border collie , we could see the dog from the gate, it was in a kennel at the bottom of the garden, i was trying to get a better look at it with my binoculars, because from the gate it looked like a full collie, thats actually when she came out and confronted us. The first thing we talked to her about was Buster and Lucy, and told her that was whywe were interested in the collie, she let the dog out, and it was a collie cross, I gave her a poster of lucy and buster, then we had a conversation with her son, who appeared from nowhere, about Chilli, he had a lurcher with him and said he only knew about working dogs, and he would keep any eye out for her. His mother told him that she had the poster of lucy and buster, but he seemed more interested in Chilli because of the reward offered, and commented was it a no questions asked reward. I presume we are talking about the same woman??????? She was the only person we spent any amount of time with. Hope this clarifys the situation. Chyna asked me to ask whether you are going to come to the seminar she mentioned to you, she is waiting for you to call her back to let her know, so perhaps you coLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Twmballyn - Unfortunately not many of the rescues will contact owners, and it is normally down to the owner to contact the rescues on a regular basis, i have always found the kennels at Torfaen very helpful. There was quite a big article in the Countrymans weekly some time back about the crossing of collies with greyhounds, collies for brains of course, and greyhound for speed, so a possibility. Twmballyn as you are aware there are things going on behind the scenes, press coverage could put this in jepordy, I will call you tommorow evening. BCLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Rose, Many thanks for all your hard work. I emailed all welsh rescues and Border Collie rescues over a month ago, so with a double whammy, hopefully they will take more notice. Contacted farmers weekly but they haven't run the story........will try again. Going to try Y-Tir (Welsh Farmer and Gwlad - These are farming publications from Welsh Office that my dad gets through the mail they go to all farmers in Wales. Will try Brecon & Radnor Express yet again as they have a farming news page....concensus of opinion is that they have now been split and are in training as working dogs. Doglost Admin - Any chance of getting something in the Western Mail (National Newspaper of Wales) - perhaps in conjunction with other welsh dogs such as Chilly. Many thanks. I have emailed many rescue centres in Wales with posters and a couple of Border Collie Rescue's and poster's to all Vets in my area (Wiltshire) South West. I would suggest an advert in something like Farmers Weekly (if not already done) as Farmers are more likely to take on a Collie. There is an International Sheepdog News which I will also try and email. I will keep sending posters out so take heart.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Does anyone have a web address for Hope Rescue or Hope something?!!!! Apparently, all dogs from S E Wales area go there if unclaimed within 7 days from the the pound. I can't seem to get anything up on it when I do a search!!! By the way, according to Torfaen CC, they do not take details of missing dogs any longer. You have to ring the kennels they are shipped to on a weekly basis to see if your dog has been picked up. The lady who runs the kennels refuses to take down any information too. I have phoned her three times now in past six weeks (and put a complaint to the Council about their ridiculous system). They have now agreed to take all my details due to my complaint. Many thanks. ps Put 80 flyers on 4 X 4's at a farm dispersal sale at Abergavenny today. No news as yet.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Two border collies have been found about 1 mile apart in llanelli tonight, I have checked with Ron at the pound and it definately is not buster and lucy, it is a long coat and a short coat, young, look like litter brother and sister, but the markings are different, the long coat has a completely black face, and the short coat has a small white blaze about half as long as busters, the dogs will be up on site tommorow, but just to let everyone know we have double checked the dogs to make sureLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i live in plymouth and was down a car boot sale last thursday. i saw someone advertising a border collie for sale. i did not persue this with the guy who was selling it as he did not have dog with him. i obviously reported it to the people who run it as they know me as i am always calling dog warden about these incidents down car boots, as it is illegal to sell them at these places. but will download poster and get down there asap tomorrow. it is a long shot , but you never know. good luck in finding them.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Those in the know, probably already know this, but I emailed Radio Devon this morning to see if they do a segment on Lost Dogs. Heard back from Robert Wallace who said yes they do this "via CSV Action Desk they include this in bulletins at 9.20 and 10.20 am." So I guess it's just a case of letting them know? And this should reach a wider audience (viz.those dogs who are moved into the SW from, say, Wales). Hope for good news soon on this pair.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you all for your kind messages amd advice. Following my editorial in last weeks gazette, I had a telephone call asking if my dog was "older" as a lady had picked one up near me. Unfortunately this wasn't my dog(s). However, I have managed to re-unite BC bitch with one elderly deaf farmer five miles away who lost her last week - Not even a thank you. Just couldn't wait to get her back to work!!!! Owl - I think you are right about the Psychic(s). The first one said they were wandering, one was injured or sick and she couldn't say I'd get them back. The second one contacted me by phone after reading article in the paper. She said they were definitely stolen etc, as before!!! I must have had thirty odd possible sightings of both locally over the last two weeks, all of which have drawn a blank.!! THIS IS AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER FOR SURE and my heart goes out to anyone in the same predicament as myself. I have postered Abergavenny livestock market and will be doing others this week. There is a big farm dispersal sale next week so will take a shed load of leaflets and put them on all the 4 X 4's in the car park. I have done Valleys radio (but they did not take up the story) and will work on the others this week. Many thanks to all for your messages. XXXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

She contacted you I believe in the guise of helping? There ARE sime very gifted true psychics I know BUT not all are so. I think ignore her totally now. Thanks but no thanks! Twmballyn, what were the actual circumstances of this loss and how and why did "psychics" suddenly get involed? I wouldn't take too much notice of them if I were you, however, I would register a complaint against the callous disregard of your local police forces for your plight - you can do this at http://www.ipcc.gov.uk/ Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That psychic sounds a real case to me - normally they are nowhere as negative, even if they 'see' things that are pretty dire. So don't take that on board. Be positive. Problem is while I was in Torrington last week, about Sweep (what's going on with her btw?) almost every other dog I saw was a BC so I think vets may be the best way of identifying where there might be a new one in the area. If they've gone onto a working farm postering might alert a farmer to the fact these two are stolen (if I understand correctly that they were?)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Twmballyn - I am more than a little concerned about the psychic saying that you will not be getting them back, even if some of her insights about where they are tie in with other things. I work fairly closely with BC so know some of the background to your case. Many owners have found help from psychics useful, others have found it most unhelpful and sometimes misleading. Some people have been discouraged or led off on wild goose chases. In this case I do think, bearing some other things in mind, that it might be an idea to consider Bristol and West Country, so please talk to BC tomorrow when she returns from Crufts as she has lived most of her life in Bristol and knows a lot of people. But no reputable psychic I know would say that you won't get them back, as even those who successfully predict future events some of the time tend to get it wrong other times, and this is a really negative thing to say. I will PM you. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Twmballyn, I'm going to ask a couple of people to help here. With regard to the mailing list of vets, it isn't quite that simple. Our system automatically emails vets in specific postal areas, but we don't have the addresses and we aren't able to extract the information in a format that we can let you have. I can however email all organisations and helpers in the areas mentioned.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Psychic came to visit last night (as predicted lol). She tells me dogs have definitely been stolen by a man with a green landrover!!!!They have already been split up and sold on. She stated that this has been done for spite more than anything else, as the only way to upset me is through my animals. There is tremendos jealousy in the village with regard to our acquisition of this land and new build, and this is the underlying reason for the theft, rather than chancers wanting to make a quick buck. This is one in a long line of nasty happenings in an attempt to "drive us out"! This dog thief ties in with all of this!!!! I have requested a mailing list of all vets in Bristol and the West Country, in order to send posters to their surgeries. I have had no response to my request for assistance down that way from this site, so here goes!!!!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have contacted Police in Abergavenny, Brynmawr, Blaenavon (as I am on border of three counties (Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Monmouthshire). They refuse to give me a crime number as I cannot prove my dogs were stolen!! Contacted all three county dog wardens, several local kennels, vets, welfare organisations nationwide, border collie rescue organisations, all welfare/rescue places in Wales and of course it's been in four papers - Abergavenny Chronicle, Free Press, Adtrader and Gwent Gazette. (Will also be in Countrymans Weekly next week). I have blitzed this village and neighbouring villages with posters - All to no avail. Spoke to a psychic who told me they were both together wandering lost !!! After it went in Gwent Gazette, loads of possible sightings, all amounting to nothing. Another psychic rang to tell me they have both been definitely stolen from my front paddock by a man (known dog thief) with connections in Bristol and the West Country. She states they have been split up and are gone to working farms - and I WONT BE GETTING THEM BACK. Obviously can't go into too much detail! She is coming to visit on Friday to see if she can pick up anything else for me!!!! Is there anyone out there who can possibly provide me with some info' on Bristol/West Country known dog thieves or give me some guidance (EMAIL janicereamestho@aol.com) as I haven't got a clue where to start? On a more positive note, a police officer rand me yesterday having seen the article in the local press and felt sorry for our predicament. He has acquired a tri colour BC puppy needing a good home following a house raid. I went to see him and have taken him home to give him some much needed tlc. I hope this will help us to get over Lucy and Buster. However, I am not giving up on them that easily and will continue to search both here and down West until I get some answers.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another thought-sorry But there is a national vet list If as many as possible were also aware-at some stage even an unsuspecting owner (just assuming IF were sold on) will take Lucy and or Buster to a vet at some stage- so make sure they are aware of your stolen animals and looking for them too. Any of this I can help with within the limits of my family etc but please just ask if there are specific tasks you would like me to undertake-we all have lives and you must be doubly tired with the worry too so please let me know what is best for me to do.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a thought but have you tried Many Tears rescue or CARA as they always seem to have lotsof collies arrriving daily. Even sending an email to them and asking them to keep an eye of for you may help, if a photo included. gooodluck and hope they soon return to you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as admin receive a picture and posters are e-mailed to helpers posters need to be put up in the area a.s.a.p. lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, petshops, ask postie, milkmen, binmen (even put poster on bins), schools, deliver to houses etc. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. RSPCA and rescue centres need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or some who know Buster and Lucy. xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
