Would it be an idea to ask the schools in the area to ask their children for any information?

Sadly still no news of Tyke since the last sighting of him with children in Clarney Avenue, Barnsley on the afternoon he went missing. His owner has contacted all relevant authorities. has done some postering, dropped flyers through letter boxes and obtained media coverage with the Barnsley Chronicle . The link to this coverage is in Majorjets post below.
I have advised Tykes owner to put more posters up and he is going to contact local radio and tv. I have also updated the info above with a description of the collar he was wearing when he went missing.
Hoping for news of Tyke very soon x Last edited: 2015-05-18 16:09:17 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

Desperate appeal to find life-saving dog
BY OLIVER DYSON
FRIDAY 15TH MAY 2015

Peter Elliott is looking for his assistance dog
A LIFESAVING assistance dog has gone missing prompting a Darfield couple's desperate appeal to find him.

Peter and Emma Elliott, from Bly Road, are looking for their Patterdale terrier Tyke, who is trained to be able to identify when Emma is about to suffer a seizure.

Tyke saved her life last year when she suffered a fit downstairs, alerting Peter to the situation and giving the paramedics enough time to get Emma to hospital.

Peter, 66 said: "It is important we get this dog back before my wife has another seizure, otherwise she may die."

Tyke, who is micro-chipped, is described as having a face 'like a mini staffy', with black and stripes down his front.

If you have information about Tyke, contact Peter on 341199.

** The full story appears in the Barnsley Chronicle newspaper, dated May 15.

any news? How did he go missing?

Still no sign of him. I reckon someone has taken a liking to him and taken him into their own home even though he had a sturdy tag with our contact details.
1 Where is my wand’ring boy tonight,
The boy of my tend’rest care,
The boy that was once my joy and light,
The child of my love and pray’r?

Refrain:
O where is my boy tonight?
O where is my boy tonight?
My heart o’erflows, for I love him, he knows;
O where is my boy tonight?

2 Once he was pure as morning dew,
As he knelt at his mother’s knee;
No face was as bright, no heart more true,
And none was so sweet as he. [Refrain]

3 O, could I see you now, my boy,
As fair as in olden time,
When prattle and smile made home a joy,
And life was a merry chime! [Refrain]

4 Go for my wand’ring boy tonight;
Go search for him where you will;
But bring him to me with all his blight,
And tell him I love him still. [Refrain]

Sorry to see that TYKE is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (86372)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
