- Follow up to below (in case the owner reads this). My Greek dog was well used to being tied up, as are all Greek dogs. If Lewis has been used to this too, it is a way of them being allowed to sit outside in an unsecured garden safely for as long as they like. My dog's (thick but not too heavy) rope is about 12 feet long and if she insists on being outside on the front path (to see what's going on everywhere) rather than the garden, she has to stay on the rope - she is perfectly happy (we've been doing this all her life with me - 11 years - she still gets 2-3 walks a day as well).

- Ha! I have a Greek "rescue" dog and in her Greek mountain village she was used to wandering wherever and whenever she liked so it took her some time after I brought her to UK to accept that her solo excursions were not allowed. We've come to terms on that now. They are very good at looking after themselves.

- Wondering if he could be hiding out in one of the farm buildings of Holbrook Farm very near by? https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Holbrook+Dairy+Farm/@51.361308,-2.15093,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x48717da8e041f4fd:0x52703e94c34f3ca3
