message from owner...
Hi, I would like to thank everybody for the help and support I received while Toffee was away. I don't know how to post on the webpage, so hoped that you would pass on my thanks to all members of staff as well as the wonderful people who showed such interest and great caring towards both Toffee and I.

Of course in every interview I have done I have thanked Doglost, as I know how concerned all watching out for Toffee have been.

Toffee's new harness came today. It was specially made for him and was on order before Toffee went walk-snouts. He hates it, but he will have to get used to wearing it.

Toffee has a page on Facebook called Toffee Talk. He posts every day, so anybody interested in his future escapades can follow him there.

Tomorrow it's back to work for Toffee, he's had a long enough break and a very exciting week.

So I'll go now, but thanks again everybody for all the help and support you have given. You will never know how much what you have done has meant to me and Toffee.

Ian Francis.
Toffee's Dad.

So pleased for you.

Well done Toffee, well done everyone else as well, the responses on social media were massive, Pets At Home, Graham Norton, Pup Aid, phil500, Spaniel Harry RT'd to help spread the word (and many others from other peoples tweets). Even though Toffee returned home on his own accord, he would've been too hot to handle because of the coverage.

Stay safe Toffee. Just need to find missing Guidedog Tess now.

From the Oxford Mail -
"Ian Francis, 46, of Gibbs Crescent, said he has been unable to leave his home since Toffee, a golden labrador, ran away from Oxford Railway Station last night.

Mr. Francis said "we needed some milk so we went to M&S in the train station. He was acting as normal. All of a sudden, I don't know if something spooked him but he slipped his collar and ran. He's quite a nervous dog so he stays right by me. When he's working he's fine and growing in confidence, but he has gone off on his own, and it's terrible."

Mr Francis lives alone and runs a voluntary group, VIP Lounge, to help people with sight problems access local products and services.

He said he inherited Toffee, now four, from a rescue centre about four weeks ago. After travelling all the way to Caernarfon in Wales, had intended to pick up a different dog but very quickly bonded with Toffee instead.

He said: "When I got there, Toffee took to me straight away. I'm a great believer in letting the dog choose you."

Toffee is a golden to light brown colour and is slightly overweight. He has been microchipped and castrated, and Mr Francis added that he has no idea why the dog would run away. The pair go everywhere together."

This isn't s fully trained guide dog. From the description above Toffee is a trainee assistance dog/guide dog. The original owner rehomed him. I've shared on my FB page.

Shared FB and Lost & found Pets Cornwall UK.
DO WE HAVE CLEAR STORY OF WHO toffee belongs to and what he is doing? More Interested now lol
alikat
I don't quite understand this. In local Oxford paper it says he picked up this dog from a rescue centre.... and that the dog was "a bit nervous". Is this really a fully trained RNIB guide dog? Whatever he is, hope he is found safe and well as soon as possible.

Graham Norton & Pets At Home just RT'd. One quick question though after reading the news article, is Toffee a trainee Guidedog or a rescue dog? The story said the guy went to Wales 4 weeks ago and collected Toffee.

Tweeted like crazy (I'm @NDK72) got some big retweets from PupAid, Harry Spaniel and a few more. Tried some celebs so see what happens. A few of us did this when Guidedog Tess went missing in Scotland last year. Keeping fingers and toes crossed that Toffee returns.

Update from owners friend who will be posting shortly..it appears Toffeee slipped his lead before going through the barrier...but as we all know...he may have got through...or may still be in the area of the station. If anyone in this area could help by putting up posters that would be greatly appreciated.

Have advised owners friend to contact the station and ask to see the CCTV footage and also to ask her friend which platform he was on and where the trains go as may have to do alerts to a wider area.
