- News of Nipper being found on Brighton Dogwatch:
"The good news is that Nipper has been found.
Sadly the bad news is that it he must have suffered an horrific ordeal.
Nipper was stolen from the Eastbourne area on the 28th June and was found this morning wandering the streets in Rochester, Kent. He was taken to the local RSPCA who were aware of who he was thanks to all you sharing on social media. He had been tied up with dirty rope and a cable tie had been put on his tail to 'dock' him. He is flea ridden, dehydrated and has lost a lot of weight.
Nipper will have an operation tomorrow to amputate his tail as it's too badly damaged to be saved.
We'll probably never know the full story of what happened to Nipper, or whether he was dumped or escaped from whoever took him from Eastbourne but please remain vigilant to thieves at all times"
and fm Please Help Find Nipper page:
"... he was taken by an opportunist thief and ended up in Rochester where he was found walking the streets this morning by someone who does not want to be named and who thankfully took him into the local RSPCA aware of who he was thanks to all you sharing ... we dont know whether he was dumped being THTH or whether he escaped. Vet said the cable tie had been on since he was abducted and would have caused a lot of pain. He is not himself right now and is overnighting at the vets being 'treated lke a king' and rehydrated until he can have an operation tomorrow to fully amputate his tail. Please all of you be aware how rife this dog theft is and be vigilant"
I really can't believe how anyone can do this to a dog or any other animal for that matter. I know it happens all to often but it never fails to shock me.
Nipper's owners have worked so hard to get him home and they have done that. Now he starts on the road to recovery. Whatever condition he is at the moment I'm sure that after his operation he will be very happy to be home with his family getting all the tlc they will give him.
Well done to them.

- 2015-06-29 00:48 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- I have contacted Kim and she says Nipper went missing from his home in Pevensey Bay Rd nr Asda in Eastbourne. He and another dog escaped under the fence whilst they were working in the garden. The other dog was found the gate waiting to come in with no sign of Nipper. They immediately went to look for him on foot and drove round Kingsmere asking people. They have put up flyers in Kingsmere and in surrounding areas, contacted dog wardens and emergency vet and have a ref number so he's in the system"
Well done for doing all this already! I have sent our Doglost email advice to you Kim and Gary so I hope it helps find Nipper. As I said to you earlier the chances are that if he has just run off he is likely to come back in the early hours so please make sure he can get back in to your garden and/or leave bedding there so he can settle down there.
If someone has found him and taken him in then they may not know about the about of hours Dog Warden service in your area .. and will wait until tomorrow to hand him over.
If Nipper is not home tomorrow please flood the area with posters ..we know that poster power works!
Best of luck with your search. - 2015-06-28 18:08 Gino
