Boney
Thank you everyone - and thank you to Clarkey for posting the update. I didn't have the heart to after what had seemed to be a happy ending. It was an awful shock after the joy of his return and the fact that he didn't seem seriously ill, particularly at first. But we have come to accept it. We are grateful to have had him back for 12 days to enjoy a few more special times with him - including his 12th birthday when he had a 'cake' and wore a silly hat! - and we take comfort in the fact that we were with him at the end. Big hugs to everyone and thank you all again xx

I have just heard this sad news of Boney and I thought those of you who helped in the search for him recently would like to know. This is the post that his owner put on Fbk:

"Sad news, I'm afraid... Boney became more and more off colour after returning home and a scan revealed he had a large tumour on his spleen, and a suspected one on his liver. We lost him for good last weekend. At least we were with him, and not left wondering what had happened to him after he went missing. Perhaps he had gone into hiding because he was so ill - we'll never know. It was a shock because he had seemed fine and there have been many tears, but we are moving forward. We have put our name down for a puppy in September - born the day before Boney died, which somehow feels right for us. I don't usually put posts like this on FB, but so many people were so kind when Boney went missing and so many people keep asking how he is. Run free Boney, you were the Special One"

Always sad to lose a dog but I'm pleased that he was back home and able to celebrate his 12th birthday with his loving family recently.
Run free Boney

Oh no, don't be daft. I always get a stock of them for lost dogs. There will be another dog that I can use them on. Just glad to know that Boney is safely home x
Boney
To Springermad - I realised that you spent out on plastic wallets. Please can I reimburse you for any costs you incurred while so kindly helping us? Elaine x

amazon sell trackers for collars...
Boney
Thanks again everyone, for all the lovely comments. The paddock is now out of bounds unless I am with him. I can't find where he got out. I am looking into a tracker collar, and will definitely at the very least put a collar and name tag on him whenever the back door is open. I don't think he had got trapped - he was not thirsty, hungry or dirty from being stuck somewhere. I suspect he got out onto the lane and someone in a car stopped - he would have bounded up wagging his tail...Last edited: 2015-07-06 14:29:57 by Boney

Awww .. so happy for both you and Boney! Clever lad finding his own way home. Well done to you for doing so much to find him, always worthwhile even if they end up coming home on their own! Maybe he had got himself shut in a barn or something and that's why he couldn't come home before.
Stay safe now Boney!

Sorry SpringerMad! I was as happy as owner when I realised the tears down the phone were happy ones and not sad ones. Skywalker99 - yes it sounds like it - Boney has got his head on Elaine's lap saying I am happy to be home where I belong. Boney - ask your mum for some earphones!

Boney
HE'S JUST WALKED IN THE BACK DOOR! I can't believe it. I will post more in a bit. Thank you so much everyone xxxxxxx
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
I was just on my way to track Boney and as I was going out of my front door, I had a call from Elaine to say that Boney has just walked back in. Not hungry or thirsty but glad to be back. Perhaps Boney was made too hot to handle.

I would phone badgers oak vet in northiam, blue cross northiam, iden kennels in peasmaesh, cinque ports vet in tenterden. Register him on wwww.animalwardens.co.uk You may well have done all those. Trying to think of where in ashford he may have been taken to if he was found. I have just finished a night shift so have to have a bit of sleep, but i have plastic wallets being delivered with my shopping this afternoon so that i can print some posters off and get over your way and start putting them up. Will keep thinking of any other places. Think Jenny will be down to you today which is fantastic. I will check on here a bit later and see where we are at. I am really hoping that someone picked Boney up and has kept him safe over the weekend.
Boney
To everyone who has shared - thank you SO much. There have been NO sightings of Boney and he is such a friendly dog, he would have rushed up to the first person he saw. I suspect he is in trouble, or someone has taken him. Publicity may well be his best chance
Boney
To Springermad - please can I double-check with you who I need to phone? I have rung everywhere I can think of but don't want to miss anything. Would you mind giving me a call, or I could call you? To TK - thank you for your suggestions x
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
So sorry to see Boney is missing, I expect you have already checked and double checked, but any streams, stacks of hay bales, stables, ponds, Swimming pools, he could have got trapped in? Sounds like you are trying so hard to find him, fingers crossed .. x
Boney
To Skywalker - thank you, yes, we have made contact with someone and are waiting for them to get back to us
Unknown
Have you considered getting a tracker dog?
Boney
He's a very sociable dog who would make a beeline for humans or other dogs if he was out and lost. But there has not been a single sighting. We are thinking that he is either injured or trapped near home - and we have gone round and round looking and asking - or that he got onto the lane and has been stolen. Please keep sharing so that if someone has taken him, lots of people will be aware. Thank you all so much xLast edited: 2015-07-04 18:55:49 by Boney
Boney
Many thanks to everyone for continuing to share. Sadly still no news. I have been looking for him non-stop, contacting neighbours and farms, rescues, wardens and police, and posting flyers through letterboxes and posters in village shops, pubs and in the lanes. Please just keep on sharing xLast edited: 2015-07-04 18:26:37 by Boney

Could you print some posters off and get them up around the area. I am unable to help over the weekend as I am working but if he is still missing after that I shall come and poster. The more people that are aware the better.
Boney
Thank you everyone. No news, sadly. We have a paddock behind the house and he was lying in there - he often does. then when we called him, he had gone. There are no gates onto the road, only back into our garden. He's a very sociable dog and has occasionally got into neighbours' gardens but always goes straight to seek out people and other dogs. No one has any idea where he could be. So worried in this heat :-(
molly&foxys mum
I'm only in Tenterden if you need any help looking hope he is home soon
BettyC
Is there anymore info? How was he lost or any sightings? Thanks.
I'm happy to go out looking.
