I am uploading a real photo of Yeller. New owners have forwarded it to me and they say he is a lovely dog. What a brilliant outcome. Some things are simply meant to be, but what a way to do it! God bless Yeller in his new loving home. I have no idea how many dogs were out there or who was where to be honest, but at the end of the day, this baby is safe. Only Yeller knows what happened and he doesn't have to worry anymore.xxx

Omg I am so pleased but very shocked that it was him. He must have been picked up by someone else and dumped over there, as there is no way he would have hot over there on his own. Poor dog, what a stressful couple of weeks he has had. I really hope his new home is his forever home.
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
What good news, well done all, he was probably too lively for original adopter but looks as though he has landed on his feet now. Hope original adopter finds a dog to suit her capabilities, at 71 I have an 11 yr Greyhound, walk her every day, except in ice then doggie friends walk her for me.
digbysmum
Wow - this has made my day! What a clever boy to run into a vet's practice and allow himself to be caught! Many thanks to the young gentleman, and to Wildatheartlinz. You are both stars plus, of course all others involved in the search. Welcome to your new forever home, dear Yeller - have a long and happy life, and stay safe xxx

Well done to everyone who helped find Yeller! Fantastic job done by all of you. So glad that he is safe now and has a new home :)

Oh my goodness! I am so thrilled that I had a part in reuniting this little doggie with his owners.
Well done everyone xx

Thank goodness! Everyone has worked so hard trying to catch him. Hope he has a very happy forever life x

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! It is him! Runwalds dog is him! New owner on way to collect now. I am soooooo happy! Thank you everyone who helped and reported the dogs seen. The original new owner lady, who accidently lost him, won't take him back so the people who have been trying to help find him and know this lady, are the new owners of this lovely boy! It is they who have been searching for him. Chip is being changed. A lovely new start in life for Yeller, hopefully with his loving forever home!
Wonder what happened to him, poor boy. Safe now. x (I just had to edit this as I was so excited this morning when I posted, that I couldn't spell!).Last edited: 2015-07-27 21:44:44 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

I really hope he is the one that is found, please can we have an update ASAP??
Rubybella
The found dog is not chipped it says, Yeller is chipped. I think it is unlikely to be Yeller unfortunately, as there is no way this dog could have made its way from the place it was lost to where this dog was found without being knocked over by a car as it is miles away across the town.
JENNIMW32
A member to the public has added details of a found dog matching Yellar's description on Animal Search UK's website this is the found pets reference number AFP227537 http://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/ you should be able to put the reference number in the search box at the top of the page. Fingers crossed for some happy news soon.
Sarah
What about the comment further down on here from Wildatheartbinz as says there is a GRT at St Runwalds vets.
Rubybella
I am completely confused about the whole situation, obviously there is more to it than in appeared in the beginning! Who does this dog actually belong too ? Who is the person looking for the dog ? If anyone manages to get hold of the dog who do they hand it over to ? Is anyone able to give more details ?

This is what I found on the village facebook page written by someone called Kim Howe - (is this the same Kim who says she is owner/poster? )

A very upset old lady approached me to say that her male golden retriever wearing a blue collar and chain lead broke away from her whilst walking down the Essex Way footpath running through our farm this evening. If anyone sees him running around could they please inform the dog warden or Penrose Vets. Thank youLast edited: 2015-07-26 19:33:48 by Rubybella

Oh this sounds promising. I hope the dog we saw is yeller and that he could be reunited with owners soon.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
We have to wait till morning for Vets to find out. If the one on Animal Serah is not Yeller - what a stranage co-incidence re lead and collar. But we have to wait as owner not near a PC yet......
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Yeller's new owners to be, are not the owners who accidnetly lost him. The new Owners will be the person I have been communcatiing with all this time and who put Yeller on page. They only saw him briefly from a distance, but believe he has darker ears and a darker coat than the Animal Search one. Owner ringing Vets now as well. Thankyou eeryone. If these are not Yeller, then he is still out there close to area where lost, so please keep looking and postering for him. He does have a new home waiting. Will update when we know. Thank you. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Wildatheartlinz, I have asked owner to call you. Yeller is chipped but the is some confusion as he has been passed to a few people in the last few weeks. Chip may not be up to date yet, although I am told it has been requested. x

Thank you Owl. Notified Yeller's owners. Yeller was near home night before last. Or, could this be the one that was seen running on Butt? Waiting to hear from owner. x

Have sent Kimmybear a text asking her to check latest postings on this page.

Animal search dog does sound promising......
Rubybella
It could be him, but I doubt he has managed to get that distance, across the town and past the railway line ! Unless he has been caught and dumped somewhere else?

I have been so worried about this one Kim, fantastic news that Yeller is still around and that you almost have him. Fingers crossed that he is reunited very soon xx
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Yeller is still in his area and still has his lead attached. If anyone sees him, please let owner know asap as we need to plot his route. We are in the process of catching him, bless him. Look how long he has been out there. We are very close but he is very scared. Do not chase nor approach, coax to you, or walk away and call owner. Thank you. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Butt Lane not yeller ........BUT WE HAVE POSITIVE SIGHTING! Helping owner to catch him now.
Lizzyboo
Saw a similar retriever type dog this morning on Butt Lane, heading away from town. The dog had a very dirty under belly and appeared very scared.
The dog had a rope/lead trailing off its collar. Unfortunately I didn't see what colour the collar was or even if the dog was male/female.
Posted on Doglost Essex FB page this morning.

I saw the dog yesterday morning in the field next to the orchard in gt horkesley. In the afternoon I saw it twice in the fields by the rose and crown , in which I followed it and it ran down school lane.Me and others tryed to get it but it kept running. It ran down school lane and I lost it.After that I found in the field facing onto old house road and towards the left and then I lost it . I spent from 10-12.00 13-16.00 today looking for it in all the fields in gt horkesley but no sign of it.
Rubybella
Thanks for the update. Worrying that he has already crossed a busy road to get where is has been seen most recently ! I will contact someone I know who lives near there and ask her to look out for him when she is out with her dogs.
He has been out for a while now so he must be getting hungry.
Please update with any further sightings.

Thanks for the update. Looks promising - hope he is soon caught and back home with his new owners xxx

Hi I am the poster, I am sorry I do not get time to go on here all the time. I am really grateful for everybody's assistance in trying to help locate this boy. The facts are that the dogs was not in the owner's possession for long before they lost his and this is why he is believed to have run away and got scared when on the footpath. I got a call yesterday from a lovely girl called Vicky in GT Horkesley to say that he had been spotted in Old House Road running around the fields. 5 of us spent all afternoon searching for several hours with other dogs hoping to tempt him out. He was spotted in Coach Road Great Horkesley also by two young girls, still wearing his blue collar and lead so clearly no one has been able to catch him. He is still in fields in the Great Horkesley area. And running from anyone trying to catch him. The home that he was bought from had him chained up all day so it is probably his first time of being out/ walked and he is quite possibly totally unsocialised. His microchip is now changed to the correct address should he be caught and scanned.
Rubybella
Just came across a local facebook page about this missing dog and seems to indicate that person who listed this dog is not owner. She came across the owner (an older lady) on her farm land who told her her dog was missing. This may be why details are sketchy?
digbysmum
Any news? xx
Rubybella
Do we know if this dog is still missing ?
DogLostNina
Please owner bring us up to date with what has been done to get Yeller home within the realms of what is safe to print baring in mind previous posts.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Owners have been advised in details re sites. I do wonder this myself and so hope not. Will check in with them again. x
CorbiereW
I agree, Ruby. It's very dispiriting when there's no input from the owners esp with getting posters printed and put around, telling us where they have searched etc etc.
Rubybella
I really think we could do with an actual picture of the missing dog. Can the owner not contact the previous owner for a picture if they don't have one ?
We could do with more communication on here from the owner.
I would be happy to help if the owner wants to organise a search etc Last edited: 2015-07-14 19:12:08 by Rubybella

Can the owner contact local schools and offer a reward towards school funds. Term time ends soon and children usually are very aware of new dogs appearing at friends homes. Are there any churches who would put up posters they may appreciate something towards their funds,Last edited: 2015-07-14 17:57:28 by Nina

If Kim or anyone else local is able to print off some posters and flyers I can help distribute some - this is mega-important, and the only way for anyone finding and keeping him to know where he belongs.
Please text me on 07947 036054 with a suitable time and meeting place to pick up, eg Anchor at Nayland or the Rose & Crown on the A135 - I'm in Stoke.
Is there a local Traveller Liaison Officer? - or is this another way in which we fall between two stools, being on the Essex/ Suffolk Boundary. A lot of dogs have gone missing round here lately - almost all working breeds - and this coincides with the establishemt a week or so ago of a large camp at Kesgrave... Many of the dogs have gone missing on the Essex side of the Stour Valley but this camp is in Suffolk. Three were also stolen in Sudbury recently.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
He's a retriever and that is why Jayne has amended the photo to a different, similar dog. We have no actual photos so just need a pic for the posters. Thank you Jayne.

Thanks Helen, that's a pity, at least he has gone home. Is Yeller a lab or golden retriever as per Folly post earlier?

The found dog at West End Farm Kennels has been reunited so sadly not Yeller.

PRess refresh please.
Folly
Can you clarify whether Yeller is a yellow Labrador or a Golden Retriever as description says Golden Retriever and yet photo shows a yellow Lab? It will make a difference what people are looking for. Thanks.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Posters are responsible for the vast majority of dogs getting home. We need to plaster the area asap. Thank you eveyone for helping, please continue to do so. We need t make Yeller very hot.
DogLostNina
Kim are there any spy in the sky drone enthusiasts in your area that might look around the area for Yeller. They may list themselves on google.
Rubybella
Definitely need posters in Great Horkesley shops and pub. Also filpots nursery, priory farm livery yard (riders may spot him over fields), Colemans butchers and Langham village shop.
CorbiereW
Has someone got permission to search the lakes near the Plantation? In this heat, it's worth looking esp close to the big water areas - of which there are a few, visible on the OS maps. And do try getting the people down at the Resevoirs down Sky Hall Hill to take a good look around.
CorbiereW
Hi Kim, so sorry this has happened. It's a very hard area to search, with so many stable yards, nurseries, farms, and other small businesses scattered about. I'm afraid you are just going to have to run off loads of posters and flyers, and put them in all the pubs, shops, on all the footpaths, etc etc. Wearing a lead I'm surprised he hasn't been spotted locally - but there are plenty of the sort of people in the area who might keep a dog like this if they just found him. Your best hope is to make him 'too hot to handle' - so that everyone locally knows he is missing.

I parked my car on the hard standing on the other side of Horkesley Plantation and walked all the way up around there on the farm tracks, calling - but no sign of him, and the two people I stopped hadn't seen him (and didn't know of a missing dog). It's a shame it's been a few days as he could have got to anywhere by now - across Straight Road, or to Boxted or Nayland.
If you can print off some posters I can take some in that direction - I live in Stoke. I think that's most likely the direction he'd have gone in
Kim
Hi just to let you know I am the poster / owner- I contacted dog wardens and Penrose emergency vets and daytime vets and left details. His chip details have been updated with my contact details also. All of my family have searched for hours on foot and by car and asked lots of people and absolutely no sighting
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Yes, owners only had this fur baby a few minutes before this happened, so no photo of Yeller. I guess we're just looking for any yellow retriever. But he is chipped! So does anyone you know have a new golden dog?
CorbiereW
There are a lot of plant nurseries and fruit farms in the land bordered by the roads mentioned, Straight Road, etc etc - so if the new owners can get some posters printed up pdq and go and leave them at all the premises in the immediate area that would be a big help. I could deliver some around if someone nearby could print them up - I don't have printing facilities right now
CorbiereW
Sorry - just saw this is a 'similar picture'.
The local pound puller Holly M lives very near Gt Horkseley and she has a big page so I'll share this link there.
CorbiereW
I live quite close by too - in CO6. I'll take my staffie over there when it's a little cooler and see what I can see.

This guy looks very like a lab I transported for LRRSE called Mr Yellow, about 18 months ago! I hope it's not the same dog... I picked him up from a very upset lady in the northern part of Colchester, not far from where Yeller has gone missing.
Rubybella
The postcode is in village called Great Horkesley, just outside Colchester, essex.
I don't live far, will text a couple of people who live in the village to make them aware. I wonder if they have contacted Penrose and partners vet as a member of their staff lives very close to the place he went missing from. There is a very busy road which is quite close to the area but a lot of surrounding farmland too.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
I ha dto remove this paragraph inorder to update poster so moved it here: ""Yeller had just been bought from Mr & Mrs Lee by by Mrs Hawe, when dog got out of the car with collar and lead still attached when a........"" this bit is missing, but looks like something spooked him. Poor dog.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
There has been no sightings at all of Yeller. He is chipped. Lead attached. So very possible he has been picked up by someone. Owner is getting loads of posters done and suggested approach local paper for publicity. We need lots of help on this one please, can we get help to search local area due to lead being attached and also for any publicity any way you can. Facebook, twitter, radio, etc. Many thanks. x
