Hi, I have sighted an unaccompanied spaniel-type dog a couple of times in the last month or so in a small copse just outside Bassingbourn.

The google map reference is: 52.067278, -0.063589

The dog was brown and white- I couldn’t see if it had a collar on.

Thanks for your continuing support and messages. All of them are checked out if we feel they could be a good lead. We still have had no news of Spice and cannot believe that she can have vanished off the face of the earth in this way. We are still looking everywhere we can think of, but to no avail. County shows have been visited by members of the family and friends over the past few months, but no further news or sightings. The more we speak to people the more we realise what a problem dog theft really is, we have been surprised to hear that not all vets check for chips....we thought this was standard and meant she would be home soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for your continued help. We still have no news of Spice and have followed all the suggestions people have posted on here, but to no avail. We are starting to fear we will never see her again, we are aslo concerned that if she is found it has been so long, she would not remember us. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The Cotswold Show is at Cirencester Park (Glos) on the 7th and 8th of July and there are many BACS gundog events on both days so lots of Springers & Cockers will be there, so could be well worth a visit.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the info on the dog at Binfield. I too have seen the photo, and although it didn't look like Spice, we telephoned to make sure it wasn't. We were however told that they didn't have any Springers at Binfield, which is odd!!!! We continue to look everywhere we can think of, and are trying to keep news of her theft talked of in the local area. Sadly we have seen another has gone from the local area in the past few days. thanks again for the information, we are happy to get anything and everything that comes our way. The reward for information that results in her return is still available. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's a shame there isn't a better photo of Spice, as the markings on the Binfield dog are quite distinctive. I was just going by the nose!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for that - have already checked them out with the dog warden and Spice is not one of them. I hope they are reunited with their owners soon. Still searching any areas or contacts that we can think of, but still no news. We are trying to keep her disappearance in the local 'news grapevine' as much as possible, but nothing is coming back from it. We are losing hope that we might get her back. We watched the piece on Look East last night and were horrified to see yet another springer had be taken and right in front of the owners too. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have got the crime number for the incident and the police in the area are still working on this. The possible sitings of a Springer have not brought anything more and we are still awaiting news of Spice. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for your support and messages. Spice is my father's dog and she is greatly missed. She followed him like his shadow, all day every day, and we fear she will be as distressed as we are about this seperation. She is used to living on a farm and running around all day with my Dad. We are all still in shock and heartbroken that someone can be so cruel to Spice and to her family. On the day of her disappearance, having seen the car speed away, we reported her stolen to the Police. Made contact with WoodGreen Animal Shelter, all the local vets, The Missing Pet Bureau and Countryside Watch, plus anyone else we could think of. Countryside Watch have notified all local farms and organisations that are members of their group. Posters / notices have been placed in local area. Local Radio and Newspapers have run articles etc as a reward is on offer for information resulting in her return. We have had messages of a dog loose near Guilden Morden, which we have been unable to trace, and now we have had reports that a springer has been spotted lose in the Hinxworth/Edworth area, which we are following up. We are also trying to arrange for a better photograph of her to be put on the system....but none of those we have show her markings very well. We are hunting friends and families photo collections and if we find anything better we will replace the one on the poster. Any news would be of help. Thanks Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as admin put a picture on the site posters need to be put up in the area a.s.a.p. lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, petshops, ask postie, milkmen, binmen (even put poster on bins), schools, deliver to houses etc. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. Check Police station and Dog Warden. RSPCA and rescue centres need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Spice. xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
