Whooo hooooo! Lila is home!!

I'm delighted to say that Lila has been found and is back home!
She was returned to the stables this evening at the time arranged with LouisCatliff.
Although she is very smelly and dirty she otherwise seems fine. Hoepfully this young girlie will be none the worse for her awful experience and I'm sure she will lap up all the tlc she will be getting .. after her bath!!

Many thanks to all who helped by sharing and trying to find the farrier mentioned. I had forgotten how many horse owning friends I had and much appreciate all their help.
To the lady at the stables, thank you for getting Lila back.

This is all really, really weird. I don't understand why the lady who found Lila rang a random vet's surgery to find out if a dog she'd picked up was microchipped and how on earth they could tell her yes?? How did they know who the dog was and if they knew who the dog was why didn't they contact the owner? Really odd. But as you say, as long as they bring Lila back, that's the main thing. They've held on to her for far too long and it's really wrong, so I do hope it all works out OK.

Hey everyone, I've just received a call from the lady who found Lila in the first place. She says her friend has Lila but is currently at a funeral so can't bring her back straight away. The lady next door said that she will be bringing Lila back between 6 and 7pm this evening. All still sounds a little odd but as long as we get Lila back I can't see the problem. Will put a post up when she's officially back home.

LouisCarliff: Thanks for posting. So sorry that Lila is not back yet but we are doing everything we can to help you.
I agree that it is very strange not know the number of the farrier and also a little suspicious that she has not given it to you yet. Hopefully that will change this afternoon.
I am also surprised that, as you live next door, she seems to be saying she was not aware that Lila is yours which in itself can't be right! Also, most people who find a dog would put a notice on their stable yard gate saying that they have found a dog and giving the owner a number to call to get it back. She has not done this and has also not gone to Culverdens to get the pup scanned as she was advised to do by them. Instead, she has given Lila to this farrier. Possibly sold her to him.

Yeah, it does seem pretty suspect. The lady seemed very keen to help so I didn't feel the need to push to get her number or name, naive on my part, but I asked multiple times for the number of the farriers, which she claimed her husband would give her, and she just said she'd give my details to them, meaning that they'd have to contact me, which they have not. She comes back daily between 3.30 and 4 to check on her horses so I'll wait there until she does and then ask again.

sounds very fishy, if you had nothing to hide why not just pass on your name? Did she actively withold her number? Did she give the vets a name/number? Lila's insurance may pay for costs of this if not found soon

Hello, my name's Louis Catliff. I'm the dogs owner. According to the lady who originally found Lila she gave her to the farrier who had shoed her horse. They went to the horse stables/farm at the other end of the lane, found that nobody there owned the dog, and then drove off with her. I would assume Lila is still with them. The lady said she would give my details to the farrier, who she would get her husband to contact, and that the farrier would then call me. That was at 9am this morning and I so far have not received a call. While we pretty much know who Lila is with, or at least know someone who knows, the lady avoided giving me either her name or her number or the number of the farrier. As a result I am unable to contact them or give their details to the police. I don't want to fear the worst, that she's been stolen or sold, but as it has now been over 24 hours since Lila went missing I will be looking to contact the authorities soon if I don't receive a call or any information from the farrier or lady who found Lila originally. Once again thank you all for your help and concern. It's much appreciated.

Personally I would report to police.....I presume the name of the farrier is known.....the police should be able to trace address etc

Update from owner onCulverden Vets Fbk page:
"Hello everyone, I'm the owner of the dog. Thank you so much for your help. The lady who called the vet owns a field next door and was either getting her horse shoed, or about to, when she picked up Lila and phoned Culverden. The farrier shoeing her horse, driving the green/yellow transit van, then went down to the stables at the other end of the lane, with Lila in their car, to see if anyone there owned the dog. They did not, so instead of bringing Lila back to the lady who originally found her they drove off. We don't know whether they took her to a vet/kennel or something similar but Lila is chipped so if they had I assume they would of scanned her and called our home phone, which they have not. The lady who picked Lila up originally and phoned Culverden is trying to get hold of the farriers and has said that when she does she'll call me. However, to speed the process up, if anyone knows of a farrier in the kent/east sussex area who drives a van fitting the description, a long shot I know, I would be very grateful for any information i.e. name, address, phone number as I would then be able to make contact and pick Lila up myself. Many thanks"
I have asked all my horse owning friends if they know this farrier and no luck yet. Some of them are even ringing around to ask .. thank you so much to them. That is really appreciated.
Hoping to find whoever it is and contact them. Fingers crossed we can do this.

I have spoken to the person who was taking care of Lila while her owners are away. He had taken her back to her home where he was working and she escaped from the garden.
A local horse rider said that she had seen Lila. Another lady is believed to have picked up Lila and she rang Culverden vets asking if she was microchipped .. they said yes but did not take the callers contact details and although the lady said she would take her in to be scanned this has not happened yet. Possibly waiting until the morning as she had to be at her stableyard this afternoon.
However, no report has been made to the Dog Wardens that she has been found (which is required by law) Again, this may be because she is not aware that our Dog Wardens are a 24/7 service.

If that lady is reading this please would you leave a comment on here or telephone the number above to let them know you have her safe. Thanks.

As the finder did make efforts to try to find out who owned this young dog it does sound as though Lila is safe with her and hopefully she will take Lila to the vet to be scanned in the morning so that she can be returned to her carer who is understandably very worried and distressed.

I have advised that posters should be put up in the area and also through letter boxes of houses, farms and stables so that anyone who has Lila will know who to contact to return her.
