Comment from owners on their facebook page
' I haven't had a update yet the lady I am in contact with who seems to be high up is waiting for managers below her to get more info ect she said she would have answers by end of last week . I have been quite patient and cooperative with the time it's taken so far . I phone every few days and am waiting a call back from phoning earlier today so hope they have some answers for me or I will'
Skywalker99
If it transpires that someone at Network rail did not follow proper procedure I hope NR re-imburse the owners for the cost of 2 months fruitless search.
Snowy
Mattie, you're not being rude at all, it is an awful situation and i hate to think what you are going through. I really hope you get to speak to the guy today and he is able to give you the information that you need. xx
Mattie
Thanks for you comments I am looking into every avenue and will update you tomo as I can't speak to everyone I need to over the weekend - but I do feel it is them as the sightings no body has been 100% apart from one lady who saw defiantly paddy a couple of days after he was missing in hammer very close to where the guy said they were on the track and she was certain . Everyone else has been unsure and people are so keen to help and many brownish spaniels out there and a pointer or a beagle could be easily confused for someone who doesn't know dogs or even from a distance so please could they not go back on to the lost page unless I heard otherwise i can't cope with many more people calling and interrogating me with theory's and story's which I am fully aware of every possibility who I need to speak to and what I need to do . I've spoken to the guy twice but I assume it's his work phone and that's why it is off over the weekend and I went and met him with his colleagues in a network rail can at the station he was very genuine - for him to do something like all the suggestions would be quite far fetched from his work place and the risk it entails over his job for dogs that were neutered with little resale value ect Ii feel it's much more likely a work force didn't follow the protocol I just need to get to the bottom of this and obviously if everything doesn't check out as it should I will investigate further but for now I will wait to see what I find out thank you - please don't take this as me being rude x
Skywalker99
Should these be moved back to lost until all owners investigations are complete! The. People will not stop looking for them. Something not right here.

Mattie I think the posters should be left up for now at least until all your enquiries have been made.

This is Paddy and Nelsons F/Book page just copy and paste into your search box

Mattie your mind must be in utter turmoil but stay
strong and take care I have mailed you anything I can do?
Unknown

I have just read this on Matties F/Book any ideas anyone? I tend to think it strange also

Thanks for all you kind messages unfortunately I still haven't managed to get any answers yet I spend most of yesterday on the phone - network rail have no log of any dogs reported dead on the track or any log of anything to do with 2 dogs in that area so I asked for the company's number who removed deceased animals incase of a slip up and rang them they assured me 100% they did not pick my dogs up of the track they said they scan and keep domestic animals for 2 week catalog and photograph them I asked if paper work could have been missed and to ask his guys so he checked the van trackers to see where they have been but they haven't been to this area in that timeframe . So I don't know what happened to their body's apart from the guy that rang to say he saw them
Dead at the end of July network rail seem to have no knowledge of 2 dogs deceased in this area . I'm going to have a search round the track incase they were maybe thrown over the fence rather than protocol followed but network rail assured me if they had removed them or been alerted about them there would a log πŸ˜” I went into liphook station they hadn't heard of anything either but going back today to see if I can speak to someone more helpful and I've rang national rail but they have no information either just so frustrating that I haven't been able to find out what happened to them just more questions unanswered . Network rail seem to have been very helpful but I don't really know diddly squat someone is looking further into it as they are all puzzled why there is no record so I will update you when they get back to me again . Thanks everyone for taking posters down still loads to do so please do take them down if you pass any

Such tragic news, I am so sorry for your loss Mattie. I was wishing everyday that your boys would be found safe and sound. RIP Nelson and Paddy. XX

I am totally disgusted with Network rail but so pleased that one worker had the heart to come forward and give you closure. Why they can't scan the pets they find is beyond me. Surely even just a call to the dog warden wouldn't be beyond their ability!

Such terrible news, my heart breaks for you, bless their little hearts but they are together forever. You have tried so hard to find them Mattie you don't deserve to have this pain. Sending you sympathy and much love at this sad time.xx

Got me crying all over again. If you drop a pin it's a Health & Safety hazard, yet an open railway with trains at over 100 mile an hour is acceptable??? And even if it that was, it is totally unacceptable that tags are not read immediately when seen (if still there) nor that no one scans (animal bodies are usually still scan-able if on rail), nor that no one even places a sign up at the station. One thing I am sure of, God so loved these fur babies that He made sure that if they had to go to heaven, they went quickly and without pain. There are no answers, but we have to trust there will be and one day when we get up there, we will understand: that's how I survive. You will never be forgotten Paddy & Nelson, you have earnt your little wings. Mattie, they will wait for you, whilst you continue to earn yours. In time, may your heart know peace. God bless. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Network Rail is Network Fail once again. I am so glad this chap came forward, albeit late, but he could obviously see owner was still looking ia the posters and so did the right thing. This happens too many times, it happened to my Cassie and many others. A tragedy like this is too much for owner to cope with alone. NR should have logs of any retrieved and the dates. They rarely have any reported as having been hit despite claiming they have a procedure (just lip service). Please read and sign the link below - it is factual. Trust me when I say, the grief the owner is experiencing is beyond belief. God bless you sweethearts and your loving owner. You will be reunited one day, never to part ever again. x https://www.change.org/p/national-campaign-for-cassie-s-law-for-safer-railways-for-dog-and-owner

From Help find Paddy and Nelson group:Hi everyone I have just found out the dogs were found dead on the railway at the end of July (no exact date given) a worker of national rail rang after seeing my posters and said he knew 2 dogs where found on the track nr liphook 2 months ago that looked like them and he knew there was a collar still there that he went and got to show me which is Nelsons - he didn't know what happened to the dogs or why they weren't scanned to be honest when I met him all I could do was cry so didn't ask too much - I'm really disappointed with national rail who I have contacted many times and I've been in liphook station itself to enquire and give posters too there should be a procedure to follow! I can't believe I'm never going to see them again I had so much hope l πŸ˜” I would like to thank everyone for all your help you've been so helpful and if you wouldn't mind taking down any posters you pass as that is my next task

I have given out lots of flyers at the Rogate Car Boot and spoken to lots of people up there who have seen posters out on the Heath ect and have heard of Paddy and Nelson missing.

One lady took an extra flyer to put up in the Folly Market in Petersfield of which I though was really lovely of her also I met and spoke with one lady who works with the Messenger Paper and she said she already had the telephone numbers and obviously knew about them missing anyway so the word is out far and wide.

Hoping this might bring in some sightings fingers crossed for you.

Unknown
Mattie as you know I cannot put comments on your F/Book as not registered with them but I can read the comments and have just read on your F/Book page that some one has heard a dog making a noise in Elstead this is not too far from me so will be up there in the evenings over this weekend and take a look around and listen out.
Also I am going to make some flyers this evening and will take them up to the Car Boot in Rogate tomorrow and hand them out for you I really do hope this will help to get some sightings.
Take care and please stay safe please Paddy and Nelson xxxx

I have been following Paddy & Nelsons story since they went missing too. I was staying up at Champneys when they first disappeared and saw the posters in various places. I am so sorry that they have not been found yet:-( You are working so hard to find them both.....it sounds like they are frustratingly close! Good luck with your continued search - I am sorry I am not nearer to help you search but at least you are still getting sightings so that's good. I'm off on holiday for a couple of weeks.....so hope they are in the blue by the time I get back. x
Mattie
I was out from 9.30 yesterday morning when someone rang saying they heard a hound on full cry crashing through the hogmoor enclosure looked all day until school and nursery pick up then back out all evening and camped in the area he was heard and had a BBQ going with lots of food on once this had cooked I cooked cans of dog food and fed the area with bits of chicken but unfortunately absolutely nothing . There has been no news on Nelson recently which is worrying as he is the braver one more likely to been seen ! Hopefully I have some good news soon thanks for all your nice comments

I update the Facebook page more often as lots of people in the area on it and wanting to help anyone even not on Facebook can see their page google " help find paddy and Nelson " thanks mattie

Hi Mattie yes I too am convinced that it is Paddy I did look this morning at the picture and it is definitly a dog.
Any one looking if you look really hard at it just like a magic eye picture it then becomes quite clear it is a dog.
Have you penciled in Paddys movements do they make a sort of triangle? if they do maybe you could be one step ahead of him.
Mattie
New sighting of paddy now back in bordon seen in wood behind savile crescent at 5.30 pm was startled then bolted the girls where taking photos before and you can see a dog very much paddy I think laying down behind a tree looking up see help find paddy and Nelson on Facebook public page anyone can see don't have to be on Facebook . No sign when I got there searched for over a hour then a lovely lady with a foxhound that does search and rescue training and scent training tracked him for a few Kms before we called it off he is a hound dog in training and owner sensed he was getting to tired to carry on continued searching til now so I've left blankets water and clothing near last sighting will check before dawn fingers crossed
Unknown
Thank you Jayne I really am hoping he stays this way and more sightings will give us all a point to start looking from again.

Come on Paddy you need to be home as well as Nelson give yourselves up PLEASE

Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Mistynsashasmum. That would be very kind of you. You did such a great job when you were searching for Carolina and had a great result when you found her. I hope she is doing well now with your family.
I've been so impressed that the people of Bordon have been willing to help poster and search and it's made all the difference to getting sightings in over the last few days.
JenH: There have indeed been people walking with their dogs but we also know that Nelson had a scare just before being put into the garden so he may be a little more reluctant to be seen now. Hopefully not.

I'm willing these 2 home as Mattie's daughter has her 5th birthday on Sunday. What a wonderful present it would be for her to have the boys home by then. Fingers crossed her birthday wish will come true.
JenH
just wrote a whole screed and internet crashed!
in short, has anyone thought of walking the streets with their dog when looking for Paddy? It seems he is more attracted to dogs than people, he followed that lady with the greyhound. Perhaps if people out walking, looking, could have their dogs with them? Then he might venture out...Just a thought. Keeping everything crossed for these two pooches.
Jen x

Sounds as if you have loads of support over that way but I will do a drive and look round on my own over the weekend rather than be timed as I am quite a way from that area and also work commitments.

Hoping though these boys will soon be home sounds very promising and everything crossed for you.

Mattie you so deserve to get your boys home and I know how exhausting it is looking and searching for dogs as not long ago I was also on the trail of a lost dog so rewarding to get them home though keep your chin up and you too will be rewarded.

Stay safe Paddy and Nelson please get home very soon make this weekend special for your mum please xxxx
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Apologies for late updates.
Unfortunately no sign of either Paddy or Nelson on night of the search. However this may have been because they had moved on to Headley Down where Nelson was seen in the afternoon.
Fm Help Find Paddy and Nelson page:
"Just got in from being with jenny and yogi . Nelson was put in a garden by the people who stopped for him on the road got a poster from nearby post and then chased him around trying to catch him then left and the house owner rang me of the poster - he escaped before I got there ( the man said his garden was secure) I looked round frantically with no luck - when jenny brought yogi down and his reactions to the scent and description of him by man we are 99% sure it's Nelson and a poo with a lot of hair ect in the garden - we have been unable to find him im calling of the search tonight as we hope he will find his way home when night falls the garden he was put in by people who found him is about 500 yards from our house so seems like he was making his way home and unfortunately got startled hopefully he is lying low and will come home later . There has been no sign of paddy so if the people who were going to search all want to go down near the Bosc club or hogmoor near where he has MAYBE been heard howling I would be very grateful but I'm going to stay here and keep looking around for Nelson, god hope he gets home safe later!"

Sadly Nelson nor Paddy went home last night.

Request from Mattie:
"PLEASE SHARE - could the couple of People who put a spaniel (Nelson) into a garden off the Grayshott straight be Headley down please call me on 07920 556445 - he escaped the garden and it would be very helpful to know where he was coming from as I may find him in that direction many thanks"

All so frustrating for Mattie to know that she was so close to having Nelson home (and possibly Paddy too) We are not sure where they are now. Probably still close to home in Headley Down but may have gone back to Bordon as someone has reported hearing howling in the night in that area.
I can't thank the kind people of Bordon enough. You have rallied round for Mattie and helped her with information of sightings and searched in all weathers for Paddy and Nelson. It's very much appreciated.
Mattie: You must be exhausted Mattie but please stay strong as you are doing everything you can :)

New sighting of Nelson very close to home. Mattie's on her way now. Really hoping that Paddy is close by too as these boys are normally inseparable.
The sighting is in Headley Down close to Mattie's home.
However, it is best not to have people searching the area at the moment please.
We must not scare Nelson away fm this area please.
If you do spot Nelson or Paddy please ring 07920 55 6445 immediately and just watch them to see where they are going (from a slight distance if poss) so that they are not scared away.
Fingers crossed today will be the day we get these 2 lads back to their owner. Last edited: 2015-08-26 15:16:10 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Just to let everyone know that there is an organised search this evening.
Mattie is asking that you meet her at 7.30pm in Tesco car park in BORDON.
She says she "will be in a red golf at the furthest away from tesco near to lights part of the carpark x"

Thank you so much to everyone who braved the weather this morning to try and find Nelson and Paddy. It means a lot to Mattie who has searched untiringly for her boys for more than a month now. Obviously these boy us need to be found as soon as possible.

Very best of luck with the search tonight. I live too far away to hep but will definitely be thinking of you all.

Just heard of 2 more sightings of Nelson from Mattie and all in the same area. Also someone reported hearing strange howling in the night in area of woods not too far away which sounds like it could have been Paddy.
I will let Mattie update with the details.
Mattie is going out in the very early hours to see if she can find Nelson it sounds very likely to be him and he's not in too good a state.
Best of luck Mattie. If you can find Nelson I feel sure he would lead you to Paddy.
Mattie
PROBABLE SIGHTING OF NELSON I had a phone call this afternoon from a lady saying she saw a very skinny and muddy dog that looks like Nelson at 8am this morning on CHALET HILL BORDON she described him and said he had a dark collar with a tag and he followed a lady with a greyhound across a road slowly and tired and a car had to slam it's breaks on to avoid the dog the lady with the grayhound said she didn't know who's dog it was. The lady said she had to get on the bus and didn't see where he went . She didn't call till 12 ish and there wasn't any sign of him there . I have put loads more posters around this area and in all directions but there is posters round there already . Haven't left a scent as it's a busy road and loads of houses I've no idea if I would be encouraging him across roads am going to update their Facebook page to alter as many people in the area and I will go back for another look around later I have been looking until now if you know anyone in this area or want to alert anyone please do

Thanks for mentioning those dogs someone rang me the morning they were found their description didn't fit one had a pink collar and was female too thanks though

Many thanks mattie

Please see 91174 in the found section. 2 brown and white pointer type dogs have been seen around Bourne Wood GU10 for the past week. This is around 6 miles as the crow flies from where Paddy and Nelson went missing...but worth checking out xx

Brilliant! Great to hear that thepublicity is working and that Paddy and Nelson have been seen at last.
Sounds like that boot fair is a good place to poster .. glad you are getting the posters up there.
Thanks Mistynshashasmum for all the good advice and support to Mattie.
Hoping for more news of sightings from the posters and publicity.

If you are traveling from Midhurst to Petersfield on the A272 the car boot is in a field just before you get to the village on the right hand side of the road.
It is well sign posted anyway and I am happy to meet you there if you wish.
The car booters get there early and it used to be that buyers can go in at around 9am
When I have been up there asking about missing dogs in the past the store holders have been happy to put a poster on their table as well.

Thank you I have loads of posters that I could take up there . Where in Rogate is the car boot ? X
Unknown
Mattie Rogate hold a Car Boot every Saturday when I get time this week I will make some flyers and get up there Saturday to hand them out for you.

Just a thought have you got posters in your car windows too? as this is what I do when looking for a lost dog.

Keep up the good work looking for them.

Maybe we could even meet up there if you like?

Keep safe you two boys xxxx

Please stay safe boys until you are found xxxx
Mattie
Thanks Katie I enquired yesterday and they we're a van of Spanish rescues coming over x
katiekatie
Sure everyone is aware by now, but there is a post on Facebook this morning that a large white van has crashed on the A 38 in devon full of assummingly stolen dogs, and that anyone wih a recently lost/stolen dog shpuld contact the devon police or RSPCA, hope you find them soon xx
Mattie
Hi , yes there is is posters all up round the entrance and exit of hollycombe you can't miss them and I've been giving posters and posting posters to friends who are going to put them out further out on their way to work ect I've rang the highways local council and railway yesterday to enquire again but they all said they haven't found anything and if they where it's their procedure to scan it but I will ring again in a few days thanks everyone signing the thunderclap would be really helpful ! And they are going in so many local papers I managed to get thought to 2 lovely people at different publishers and they are putting them in atleast 4 local papers each so that is brillant as some people don't have Facebook and their area may not have posters and it only takes 1 person to have some information that may make all the difference fingers crossed x
Unknown
I was at the vets yesterday evening their poster is still up checked others round here and all still ok at the moment I do not understand why these two have not been seen or at least one of them where are you two?

Mattie did you get to giving out any flyers at Hollycombe? people go there from far and wide so to speak and also keep reminding Network Rail

Will keep putting the word out shame all the children are on holiday as our coach drivers in this area also do the Liphook and around the area runs.

Fingers crossed that the papers will bring the news we need just one sighting so we know roughly where to look.

Yes Clarkey I did live in Liphook as a child for a couple of years and know it is a very vast and wooded area around there.

Stay safe you two xxxx

Thanks Millypod.
Well done for getting that done Mattie. I have to confess I have no idea about Thunderclaps either!! However, I do know they help to get the word around.

Paddy and Nelson also have their own Fbk page now: Help find paddy and Nelson
https://www.facebook.com/Findpaddyandnelson

Mistynsashasmum: Thanks so much for helping with these 2 lads. Think you probably have much better knowledge of the area that Paddy and Nelson are lost in than me. Really good to see you back!
Mattie: you are really doing well and I can only imagine how hard it is for you with so little news of your lads. Really hope a sighting comes in soon. Last edited: 2015-08-18 00:06:12 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Mattie just rang me to say that there is a new sighting of the lads on Blackmoor Golf Club. She's on her way over there now.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Well done. You are doing a fantastic job and I too hope for new sightings from all your posters. I have left a few more suggestions of who to let know about your lads on you Fbk page. It must be so frustrating for you as they have a big area to hide in.
Come on Paddy and Nelson .. we need you to show yourselves please lads. Last edited: 2015-08-04 01:06:34 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Mattie
Still searching day and night friends taking dogs out looking ect and postering wider have emailed every single person / organisation I can think of shoots ramblers stables riding clubs pony clubs green laners cycling groups hopefully some good new soon !! Have emailed all rescues further afield but no luck and am checking selling sites for them which is something you could all help with keeping an eye on your local selling sites . Trying to get hold of all farmers to see if they have been shot or seen too and leaving blankets and water in a familiar place checking early hours
Mattie
Thanks clarkey went back at midnight and first light there was no sign :( I'm hoping everyone is out walking today and somebody has a definite sighting there is posters Everywhere in about a 5 miles radius and some further on bigger commons ect so let's hope someone has seen them or sees them
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I've just had some news from Mattie who says that there has been a possible sighting of Paddy on Bramshott common from a friend of hers who was out driving her horse. She has put bedding, water and some of her clothing there and will go out postering and to search in the early hours to see if she can find them.
Will keep fingers crossed that she finds her boys.

Nelson and Paddy take note please .. show yourselves because you have been out there quite long enough.
Bumping both pages so they will be together. (Hope that's ok Admin!)
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thank you Riverlady.

Riverlady, please can we have tweets go out for Paddy and Nelson?
Mattie
Quick update - am just back from leaving sardine trail from the bottom of punch bowl up towards car park to a the shirt worn today and blanket and left the sardine tights in a tree above have done the same with tripe at the other sighting in hammer will check them at first light also left Hoover dust water around where I left items of clothing and water in places people walk so if they are around people will hopefully spot them more posters around that area so people will know they are missing thanks for everyone's help
Mattie
Thanks sheltielover they readily could be anywhere at this point no definite sightings recently so they may have come over towards liss area or across too linchmere so if you are happy to out posters up would really appreciate it happy to drop some off in plastic sleeves with pins x
sheltielover
A lot of Liss people travel to or through that area - and yes posters work - they result in 1000 eyes rather than a few. All the best for these two - come on home now lads.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Excellent, that means the posters are working! Please keep a record of where they have been seen so that you can see where they are moving to and from. Should show a pattern when you have enough sightings.

Great to hear that you have done scent trails .. they will hopefully attract the boys and lead them back to the yard. Well done. I know it's a while since you have seen Paddy and Nelson but sightings should help you to stay positive. Just keep at it.
Best of luck :)

PS Sorry, Sheltielover, I should have thanked you before for putting posters up. That really does help as we know posters work well to get the word around. Last edited: 2015-07-28 01:16:43 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Mattie
Paddy was sighted on Thursday 23rd in hammer just had a phone call
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
From what you told me you have a lot of posters out already but I have now changed the photo on the poster page so it shows both Paddy and Nelson.
You can print posters directly form the poster page and then get them up absolutely everywhere and anywhere you can think of. There can never be enough of them!
Ask your friends to put one in their car windows and on their garden gates. Give to postmen, delivery drivers, farm shops, libraries, put on bus stops, telegraph poles, entrances to the woods, footpaths and car parks etc. I'm sure your friends will help.

I will send you our Doglost advice which may help you find them.
You've got a huge area of woods nearby so you've got your work cut out but you are doing really well.
Encouraging to see that there have been nearly 1500 views of this page and over 1000 on Nelsons page.
Let me know if anything comes of the possible sighting posted on his page please .. sounds postive.

Best of luck!
Mattie
Thanks very much really appreciate it still have had no sightings :(
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I have shared to Trailhound Appreciation Society, Trailhounds - don't you just love 'em, Trailhound forum group and a couple of Trailhound owners pages. Hope that helps.
Please print posters directly from the poster page and get as many up all over the place as possible. That way you should get some news of sightings of them. They have already been shared to Doglost Surrey, DL South East pages.
Best of luck.
sheltielover
