If you know the bus stop the woman and child had used for the school run, try this:-
Stand at the bus stop with Chinny in your arms at the time of the school run and if still used by this pair I'm sure the little girl will recognise Chinny and say something (little children cannot keep quiet). It will be difficult to prove but at least YOU will have a good idea of the low-life person.

Fantastic news……..evil people who took beautiful Chinny and I hope that you and the police manage to find them and hopefully prosecute. Long happy & safe life Chinny back with your loving family where you belong x

So glad you got your girly back. Perhaps she had a bad turn with the thief and that's why she was taken to a vet instead of Dog Warden.

I am pleased to announce that my delightful little dog Chinny is finally back at home with her family once again. I would like to thank everyone who has gone out of their way to try and get her re-united with myself and family. Thank you all so much for your help, support and well wishes.

It is only now that I can fill you all in as to what actually happened to her. About a week and a half after she went missing, we learnt via a shopkeeper and her brother that they witnessed what turned out to be the theft of Chinny from outside their shop. The incident went as follows:

Chinny having gone out of the front gate and circled the next door garden in an attempt to retrieve a toy mouse spotted a gentleman walking his dog. She followed the gentleman and two women and a child spotted her and commented on her and asked the gentlemen if she was his dog. The gentleman said that she was not his dog but was following his dog. The little girl then attempted to pick Chinny up but she squirmed and wriggled which she does as she is not at ease with young children. The child's mother then took Chinny from her child and assured the gentleman she would make sure she got her back to her owner. The dog and his owner moved on. The little girl became very excited as her mother checked Chinny's neck for a collar and seeing no collar smiled. The little girl began jumping up and down very excitedly presumably asking if she could keep her, as the mother looked around about and told her to calm down. With that the three jumped on a bus and went on their way. Well, 7 weeks passed and I got a call from a lovely receptionist from a Veterinary practice Tender Paws in West Wickham, telling me they had my little dog. I was told that Chinny was found by a lady just a few moments ago, that she was fine and had been brought in on a piece of string. She had a collar on.

Chinny was found over a half an hours journey by car from where she was missing. She was dirty and very stressed. She looked in shock and was far removed from the dog I knew. She is settling back to normality now. I was distressed to find confirmation that this was indeed a theft. Chinny's hair had been seriously hacked off. She had a lovely long coat which had been chopped off randomly in order to disguise her. As we had put many posters up and quite a lot of posts on facebook and various sites I assume this evil individual was doing everything they could to make sure she was not recognised. Further confirmation of course, is the fact that the individuals who took her use that bus route as a regular child school run, so they would be well aware that there is a Vetinary Practice about 3 buildings from the bus stop they used and on the same side. Chinny is chipped, so all they needed to do was to take her in and I would have had her back in a matter of minutes, as it is a 3 minute walk from where I was. Incidentally, I was advised by the police not to make this information public prior to finding her as it might alert the thieves who might then try to dispose of her.

Once again thank you all. I am one very happy dog owner. xxx Leitha Fernandez
