I just spoke with the lady who put the black lab on FOUND pages. They think he's a male, but have not seen up close. He's been around Dorking for a while prob ferral, has a routine she usually sees him at night 8pm then he goes off towards woodland and farm area. She is going to liaise with Jayne at DL to get some local helpers to try to catch hime and gethim scanned so might be worth keeping tracks of this one in case its your boy. Good Luck this one sounds as if he's got attitude! (PS in case you're wondering why I got involved its because we are looking for a lab girl missing from Cambs and its def not her as he's been around longer than she's been missing) Fly xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Still No sign of our boy, we are still searching and postering and pestering, I have put another advert in this weeks Saturday`s Oxford Mail, and have mentioned a small reward for his safe return so if any one is keeping him perhaps this will help. Will keep you posted. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for message,no news about Josh at this time, its gone a bit quiet, still putting posters around and taking our other dogs all over the place looking for him, have put a lost notice in the Oxford Mail this week, and an article is supposed to be in the Oxford Courier and Oxford Journal this week which hopefully will get people`s attention, I`ll let you know the outcome, still keeping our hopes up, he`s very timid so can only think he may be hiding somewhere or someones taken him in. Thanks again, I will definitely keep you informed.xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How about putting up posters next to pay and display machines in local car parks. People from out of area as well as locals use them, so could be of help. Hurry home Josh xxxxxxxxxxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good to have you on board and keeping us updated and am glad the oxford mail has generated calls. what about the oxford courier - have they run anything yet? Keep up the postering, it will work, everytime he is sighted, go to where he has been sighted and work your way out, postering where you can and putting leaflets through doors. my aunty shirley is warden of one of the caravan sites in kennington (no, not one of THOSE ones, a proper one!) and will let her know as she is massive dog fan. Just keep it up, postering and delivering leaflets, talking to people and dog walkers and spreading the word. I am so sure this little darling will be home soon and, until then, we are all here for you if you need us. Good luck, take care xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I`m Josh`s owner and would like to thank everyone who is looking out for him, we have a quite a few phone calls from the posters and the Oxford Mail, with people saying they have spotted a black dog, the latest sighting was yesterday at Radley College, but when we got there, there was no sign, although it does sound promising, this also ties up with a black dog being spotted in Kennington and Bagley Wood. I phoned the Dog Warden again yesterday who assured me it is still very early days. So we are still very hopeful. Will keep everyone up-dated. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My son has a friend who works at Stokenchurch Dog Rescue. I know this is possibly a bit too far away to be considered, but they may well have links with other rescue centres in the Oxford and surrounding areas. I will get my son to speak to him tomorrow morning. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I did some more postering around Abingdon yesterday - entrances to parks, housing estates and at the guardhouse for the military base. Really hope this chap finds his way home. When my dog was missing I called every vet in Oxfordshire and kept on calling the police and the dog warden as well as local rescue centres. Thinking of Josh's family. I am in Didcot so keeping a look and ear out. As its Sat morning and I am off to watch my Son play football - I was just thinking that if there is anyone going to Abingdon to watch similar this weekend, they could hand out some posters. There are usally games at the Rugby club and at the park up Boxhill Walk. You could also try Tilsley Park area. All these places have tea huts where you could pop a poster. My Sister lives in the Albert Park area, I will let her know. Using my local knowledge - if the owner has already phoned Abingdon Police Station then keep calling every day. If Josh is found in Milton then he may be taken to Wantage and if he is found in Culham he may be taken to Didcot. Likewise for areas North of Abingdon, he may be taken to Cowley or Oxford Police Stations. I would suggest you keep calling all the stations via the main number 0845 8 505 505 during Office hours and ask to speak to the SDO (Station Duty Officer) of each station (this will mean lots of calling). THe Stations dont always talk to eachother regarding lost dogs. Regarding Albert Honey, he was brilliant but I havnt heard his name for a few years. Good luck with your search. Please keep us updated so we know where to poster.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as picture is put on site and posters are emailed to helpers they need to be put up in the area a.s.a.p. lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, dog training clubs, petshops, schools, deliver to houses etc. Ask postie, milkmen and binmen to lookout. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. rescue centres need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Josh.
