Update as I was posting from work earlier today. We received an e-mail to advise there had been an incident on the railways the day Saffy went missing.

I contacted Network Rail this afternoon and spoke to a lovely gentleman called Colin (who has posted below). Colin has used our services before when his own dog went missing for a short while. Colin has gone above and beyond today, and I really cannot thank you enough for your help, support and professionalism. This is not the outcome any of us wanted, but Joanne, Saffy's owner, now has closure and has taken beautiful Saffy home to lay her to rest.

Thank you to everyone who has helped in the search, shared her details and supported the family. Special thanks to Richard who e-mailed us in, Colin, and Network Rail.

Absolutely heartbroken to hear this. I was wishing and hoping for a positive outcome to this, and it was difficult passing on the bad news.

No collar, lady lost sight by hadwins garage - this was at 6.40 am.

I have been in contact with Saffy's owner. They live in the middle of nowhere and everybody knows Saffy. Her owners have been out again all day searching but still no joy. We are hoping someone may have been driving through and picked her up, hoping we hear something tomorrow.

I have sent info and advise, will circulate on FB and also requested twitter alerts.

Stay safe Saffy until found x
