I received a phone call from a gentleman this evening saying that he thinks he has found bertie!!! Unfortunately I was in work and so missed the call and was left a voice mail he said that the dog seem to reponsed to the name bertie. He never left a contact number or any other detail so all I can hope is that he rings back tomorrow and let's us know if it was him or not.

I drove out that way when I left work on Monday and drove very slowly, I can now see the problem with the fast road and lack of verge making searching difficult.

Great idea to speak to the farmer, also worth contacting all the homes nearby and getting posters up in Ascott.
Emmaw85
My partner went to that area last night and spent about an hour up around there. He has also contacted the land owner and ask him to keep a look out for him. He will try to get back there tonight for another look.

Great to see there has been another possible sighting of Bertie. Will try and get down there with some more posters out at the back of Ashcott , Walton, Street, direction.

Jasper: I have been in touch with sighter and she advises that the terrier was seen in the wooded area on the A39 in the dip where there is a road heading to Catcott. It ran straight across the road from left to right. They were travelling towards Ashcott.

Thank you

Bertie's owner searched one of the wooded areas and I did the other but sadly no sign. JeanC are you able to find out out which side of the road the dog was spotted on and also if they could identify which wooded area along that stretch of road as it is quite vast. Is it the one near catcott turn (Wood Lane) or The one nearer to the Cossington turn? We searched the right hand side if you are headed towards the motorway- (the Catcott side) but there is also wooded area on the Greinton side? Have postered the area- would have liked to have some up on main road but just too busy on a Friday. Hope for a positive sighting.Last edited: 2015-09-19 14:50:37 by Jasper - Area Volunteer, Somerset

Good luck!

Ok, gently does it then. I will go from the road inwards so I won't frighten him in the wrong direction. I have some packets of cat meat. Fingers crossed...my number 7795108377

He would respond to your calling he would need some encouragement but would come over eventually. I can't thank you enough for going out your way to help us I will head up there in a bit with his squeaking toy as well.
DogLostJasper - Area Volunteer, Somerset
Hubby is just running off some posters for me so will head up there after 4.00pm. Would Bertie respond to gentle calling or should I go silently or would you prefer me to leave it to you and just poster instead? Looking at Google Earth my guess would be the wooded area just before the cossington turn as you go from street direction. Let me know how I can best help.
Emmaw85
Thank you so much for all your help! Do you know a rough area of the A39 he may have been and me and my partner will have a look about later this evening?

I will alert owner of the message below, they are felling quite low about Bertie.

Thanks Jasper that is really helpful.

Hello. The dog was seen in the wooded area of the A39, it ran out in front of a car but is ok. It went back in the woods and was described as being mainly white. It was late evening.
DogLostJasper - Area Volunteer, Somerset
Hello JeanC. Do you know whereabouts on that road and what time as my husband drives that way for work and I will get him to have a look around. Do you have any other info on the dog seen?
JeanC
A terrier was running about on the A39 between Bridgwater and Catcott last
Night.

Still no news at all on Bertie. I am requesting Countryman's Weekly listing, it can take some time, but hope it helps.

Please keep looking...

It is uncharacteristic for Bertie to not come back. I have sent owner scenting and terrier specific advice.
