Bless you, each everyone one of you in helping to get Sprocket. Here’s the story of this mornings events. We picked him up at 1.30 today.
As so many people were out looking at Shaugh Prior, I asked Phil to drop me at the top of Hoo Meavy where the first positive sighting was by Kaf. From there to Meavy, where I met a wonderful lady named Jan, who doused for me saying that Sprocket wanted to be found and I was to put him in a golden pyramid in my minds eye. Not half an hour after that encounter, I heard Collie barking. While legging it to that site, another lady, her name is Andrea, in a 4X4 pulled up and asked if I needed help. She was working in her garden in Meavy and heard this distress barking too. The pair of us soon found that it was a pack of collies going through their agility training. Andrea was returning to her car when I got the phone call to say that Sprocket was at Lower Uppaton Livery yard. Andrea then drove me to Cadover to that I could meet up with William who was combing that area. William and I then drove to this yard and met with Nicky Reeves who said that yes, it was Sprocket as they had been calling his name and although nervous, was making progress in approaching them. Nicky took us into the woods where Sprocket had made off and left us to coax him out. After 20 mins of gentle calling I saw a black blur moving along a track a little way up. I said to William, there he is and before Bill could react, Sprocket launched himself off the bank and took Heidi out. There was much wiggling, yipping and joy as Sprocket realised that he had found his chum and that we we’re there to take him home.
There are too few words or they are totally inadequate to express my gratitude to the shares on FB and other sites. The volunteers who have worked tirelessly, the sightings, the phone calls, the pep talks, the virtual hugs and the real hugs. There is a group of people who have gona above and beyond to bring our Sprocket home. To you, I’ll contact in person to offer my thanks.
I didn’t think it appropriate to take a photo of Sproket at this time but our happy little chap was on the sofa smiling so here he is, in person to say Thank You for getting me home. xxxxxxx

UPDATE from Julia 19/9/15

We and other wonderful people, walkers, cyclist and horse riders, thank you Kaf, have been out all day but no sightings of Sprocket. I did have two phone calls ref other Collies so the people are being true to their word and calling me immediately. One turned out to be a female with a blue eye and the other was short haired collie seen at Burrator looking nervous and following behind a couple of joggers. That doesn’t matter a jot. I'll take all the calls and contacts there are. One of them will be about our Sprocket and . . . if your sightings can get back home other roaming/lost dogs then that has got to be something we can all be proud and grateful for.

Hi Julia. I live in Lee Moor and have kept an eye out for Sprocket every day. Unfortunately I'm away for a week from tomorrow. I'll be checking here to see if he's home each day. Although Sprocket isn't home yet, I'm happy to say to everyone who has shared this post that because people are looking out for Border Collies, two other roaming Collies have been spotted, reported and are now hopefully back in their own homes. How great is that. You all know who needs to be next. Sprocket. xx

I went back later this afternoon but did not catch sight of the blue-eyed collie. This is a popular dog walking spot so I would hope that he either lives quite locally and will find his way home or that one of the dog walking fraternity will be able to help him. Of course I'll continue to look out for him too. I'm sorry Sprocket has not been found and wish his owner success in her search.

I have double checked with Julia sadlly not Sprocket. I firmly believe this is the same dog reported to us in this location yesterday. I have checked missing border collies on here in south west can't see mention of this doggy. Will go through again as this poor doggy must have been straying for sometime and needs rescuing

Does Sprocket have a blue eye? I was approached by a male collie dog with similar markings and wearing a collar earlier this morning on Yennadon Down, Dousland above Burrator. He was thin and nervous and shied away each time I tried to get close enough to read his tag.

Update from Julia with the events that took place yesterday 16th September 2015

UPDATE From Julia Sprocket's mum.

Today, the magnificent Blood Hound, Forager, from K9 search dogs came to Shaugh Prior to look for Sprocket. He didn’t find him unfortunately but . . . he confirmed that Sprocket has been in the area.
It all started with a phone call from a chap who spotted Sprocket at 9.15 this morning. He saw a black collie on his morning walk. His first thought it was the black farm collie who roams the area but, because it turned away from him and disappeared into the undergrowth, he thought Sprocket. (The result of having a flyer posted through his letter box.)
He further reasoned that A) this isn’t the other BCs stomping ground, she always turns right when leaving the farm. B) She knows him well and would have wagged her way over to him and not turned away and C) The owners of the other BC left the farm prior to his walk and took the other BC with them.
I got the phone call to say that Sprocket had been sighted half an hour later. After driving to the site and meeting with the chap, he showed me the exact spot where Sprocket had disappeared. This is what we’ve been waiting for. Sam Farlap of K9 search dogs is two hours away and lives in an area with terrible mobile reception. I was also in an area with terrible mobile reception but by getting texts through we arranged a meet.
Well after trying to pick up a scent, it was decided that it probably wasn’t Sprocket that morning. Yet Sam didn’t give up. By extending the area a bit, Forager went from being bored to being animated and took off with us trailing along behind. He soon stopped and gave the signal that he had found what he had been asked to find. It was a small bramble area in the junction of two fields that backed onto, but much further down a steep slope, the spot where Sprocket had been seen that morning. As you already know, we didn’t find Sprocket and the rain was beginning to come in worse and the light was going.
Although bitterly disappointed, I did smile when Forager picked out my car and went to the tailgate and again gave the signal that he had found what he had been asked to find and it’s been 16 days since Sprocket leapt out of that hatchback.
I’ll end by saying that Nicky and I posted flyers through every letter box in Clearbrook and Hoo Meavy. The Landlord of the Skylark has stapled gunned laminated posters in the area of the pub and has a poster in the pub. Oh, and the printers pulled out all the stops and did the flyers today instead of the usual lead time of four days.

When your spirits are high from a couple of sightings, boy can they fall to depths never felt before when another day passes and there is no sign of Sprocket. A big thanks to the lady who had the Black, Yellow and Chocolate labs today for the hug. It gave me a much needed lift.
There is some good news. Through the incredible amount of shares on FB, people have messaged to say that they have fathers, brothers, sons and boyfriends who work in the quarries and that they all to look out for our Sprocket. Again, as soon as we have a positive sighting, K9 search dogs will be mobilised so please, keep my telephone number in your devices, 07811 677059, and call, any time day or night.
There’s not a lot to say tonight suffice to say that we are continuing to scent, continuing to post flyers and that the motion cameras for the feeding stations are in the post and should be with us soon.

Well, another day and no good news to share. The day started at dawn on the Pipe path (it’s not Pyke) within the first 50 steps I glanced up and saw a black Border Collie looking at me a way up the path. I called gently Sprockets name and the tail wagged. It was then that I knew it wasn’t our boy. This chap had a big white plume on the tip of his tail and Sprocket has just a few white hairs. I spoke to the owner and explained the situation and she promised to look out for him.
From the few sightings that we’ve had, it would appear that Sprocket is moving in a triangle pattern with Shaugh, Cadover and Lee Moor as the principle points so we are paying particular attention to this area.
At 11 o’clock a group of us met outside the White Thorn pub at Shaugh Prior and under Selina’s guidance divvied up the village into quarters. A flyer was posted to every house in the village while Rob drove to the remote properties. This was repeated at Wotter.
The flyers are already having an effect as I have received text messages from people who, although they haven’t seen Sprocket, they are now aware and have started to take active notice. When walking the Pipe path again this afternoon, I met a lady walking her dogs and she had her flyer in her pocket.
Back to Shaugh and we met the guy who publishes the routes for the climbers of the Dewerstone. He is going to publish the details from the flyer onto their website.
There’s not a lot more to say except volunteers have been out scouring the area again until dark.
Many thanks to Jenny, Ronnie, Selina, Rob, Nicki with the long name on FB and Nessa and, also to all those people who offered to come out today but, I didn’t get your messages as the signal on the moors in certain areas is rubbish.

Another day passes and Sprocket’s still out there. I did receive a text from a lady who was travelling home late last night when a dog answering Sprockets description ran across the road in front of their car. Because she had seen one of the missing posters, she and her partner then searched the area for an hour but in the pitch dark, but they had little chance of spotting him. The text came in at 01.57 so you can tell what they we’re up against but boy are we grateful.
Phil and I have just got back from searching that area again but without success. However, we did meet a chap who asked directions to the base of the Dewerstone. His friend, a climber, was holding his 50th birthday party at the base of the Dewerstone and there would be food. Now Sprocket has got to be hungry so the group are aware that a small black dog may come sniffing around. If so, they will attempt to entice him with a few tasty morsels. Contact details exchanged so fingers crossed big time on that.
Another Border Collie has been found at Sandy Lane in Plympton. An old boy by the look of the photo but it’s not Sprocket. A huge thank you to all those people who have called and messaged me ref this collie. Please don’t stop calling, the next time it might be our boy.
Arghh, just had to stop there and answer the phone. It was a lady who saw a black collie out on her walk with her dog this morning trotting along the Pyke path, which is about 150 yards from the early hours sighting of this morning. The Pyke path runs from Shaugh Prior to Cadover Bridge (or vice versa) depending on direction of travel and it was at Cadover Bridge where I lost him.
Prayers please that he’s home tomorrow . . .xx

Visited the crate site this morning just before 5.30. Nothing had been near it as the smoked ham was still there so not even a fox or badger. Two more trips throughout the day but everything still in its place. So disappointing.
Selena from DogsLost spent the morning sitting quietly watching the gap in the fence where Sprocket was last seen but again, nothing. It has been very hot today so we suspect the boy has been lying low and conserving his energy in the shade somewhere.
I got a text from a lovely man named Pete who works at the quarry to say that he had ridden all around the quarry in their electric buggy but didn’t see sight nor sign of Sprocket but then, if he was lying low like we suspect . . . anyway, Pete is going to continue to look.
Jenny has been out posting even more flyers and she sent an e-mail sent to the admin of the Dartmoor letter box group asking for the e-mail to be forwarded to all their members.
Volunteers are out in force driving from one area to another looking for Sprocket and the FB shares are continuing for which I cannot express my gratitude enough to all you wonderful people. xx

I met with Selina this afternoon and she lent me a dog crate. Phil and I have set this up in a secluded spot just down from the sighting. The beauty of this site is that it is quiet. It can be reached by all the paths that criss cross the main body of the quarry and although it is just in the quarry, no working has been done there for years. We've covered the crate with one of my old outdoor horse rugs so the inside will be dark, warm and dry. Inside the crate we've put Phil's top pillow so that it'll have his smell on it. As per Selina' advice, we've also put the contents of the vacuum cleaner in there. Apparently, anything that gives off a smell that Sprocket is used too. I'm to check it at dawn so I'll be there early tomorrow. After that, we went up to the Saturday afternoon sighting and walked the quarry again just looking and listening.

About a 200 yards from the spot where Sprocket was seen entering the quarry is a bridle path that leads down to a stream where I take Heidi and Sprocket to play. I spent a long time at the top of the bridle path because about 10 yards down on the left there was a patch of dog paw prints. On following these, they appeared to lead up back to the pit area. Despite some gentle calling, no sign of Sprocket. The paw prints look to be his size. I then went half way down the bridle path to where Phil marked this morning and left food. Food gone and more paw prints. I swept a large area of sand clear of any prints be they sheep, ponies or other animals and left some sausages (given to me by Jenny) in the middle. I know there is every chance a fox may be benefit with a tasty supper but it'll be the first place I check in the morning. Because Sprocket was spotted a mile, as the crow flies, from home, we’re trying to scent him back to familiar territory so that maybe . . . he can find his own way home. Other than that, checked extensively the Plympton side of the quarry site but nothing.

I met with Selina and we checked out the immediate area that had sheds, buildings and a few static vehicles. We did hear the odd bark but couldn't really identify a location. Now that we know we can enter the quarry after 5 in the evening, I shall concentrate my search there until such time there is another positive sighting in a different area. I intend to mark the area tomorrow in the direction of the bridle path that leads down to the stables. Sprocket knows his way home from there.

I have. Postered the entrance to the Quarry where Sprocket was seen going through a broken fence late on Saturday night. Have also managed to speak with the site Manager at Imery's to ascertain if permission could be permitted in case K9 could do a search of the Quarry. Best time would be after 5 pm when plant equipment and aggregate lorries have stopped and site would be safer then. I also visited Tin Park Riding School where Julia keeps her horse This is not far from where Sprocket was seen and it's hoped he might make his way to there. If so he would know his way home to Lutton. Julia will meet with Selina later .

Please do not use a loud speaker, sprocket will already be terrified this will make the dog even more scared and voices distort through a loudspeaker so he wouldn't recognise it any way :-)

Hi Jenny. Just had word of a positive sighting. My friends boyfriend (who didn't know Sprocket was missing) slowed down for a black collie who ran ALERT POSITIVE SIGHTING OF SPROCKET I have copied and pasted Julia (Sprocket's owner's) description of actual location of where Sprocket was last sighted. ,"Do you know the big crossroads at Lee Moor? One way Wotter, Plympton, LeeMoor and Cornwood? If you travel to Cornwood with the crossroads behind you the is a small car park on the right hand side. There are also two quarry entrances on the left hand side. George said the dog ran across the road from the Car park and disappeared into the entrance through the broken fence on the right of the gates."

If any one is out in that area please keep a close eye out. If you can take a photo/screenshot of Sprocket's poster so you have contact details to hand if there is a new sighting. 6 days now this is the most positive news we've had and I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before we get this little boy home. Xx

A late update but I’ve been messaging to and from with the co-ordinator from DogLost (Jenny, she’s brilliant) and K9. Earlier this evening I had word of a positive sighting. My friends boyfriend (who didn't know Sprocket was missing) slowed down for a black collie who ran across the road in front of him. He waited for someone to appear looking to be chasing after him but no one came. George has his own Border Collies and so knows the breed. Much later last night, just in conversation, he described the incident and the dog to Jess and she showed him Sprockets photo. Yes, that's the dog he saw. I got this info about six tonight and went immediately to the sighting.
George said the dog ran across the road from the Car park and disappeared into the quarry entrance through the broken fence on the right of the gates. Well, we hot footed it up there but found nothing. We then went to the back of the pits with binoculars but still nothing. Shouted and called until it got dark. However, I have been the name of a chap who works at the quarry, whether he's a manager or not, I don't know. I really want to get K9 up in the morning but will need permission from the quarry people first. Everything crossed.

Postered White Thorn Pub at Shaugh Prior,The Moorland Hotel,the little Railway shop marsh mills, the entrance to Plym Trail, park and ride marsh mills and bus shelter. Also postered Plym .bridge Woods both car parks either side the bridge. Andy Howard who has the coffee van at Plym .bridge is displaying a poster and has offered to pass on any info he gets. So many people helping to look across the moors on foot and driving. It's beautiful weather today and Cadover Bridge is very busy with families walking having barbecues all keeping look out. I have asked volunteers, walkers,cyclists etc to take a photo/screenshot Sprocket's poster to their mobile phones to take with them with contact details just in case there is a sighting. I spoke to a chap who was walking his own Border Collie today and he said that he saw a black Border Collie down around Goodameavy yesterday. It wasn't with anyone as far as he could tell and thought it was a local farm dog. Hot footed it down to Shaugh Prior and spent the afternoon and evening searching the lanes and farms around there but no response to our calling.

I spotted what could have possibly been the body of a dog alongside the A30 westbound just before Okehampton this morning. It is a dual carriageway so I was going too fast to get a proper look, and unable to turn round. I couldn't be sure if it was a dog, but it was black and white. I do hope it isn't Sprocket and it is the other side of the moor from where he went missing but it might be worth checking

We've been back to the start of the search again today just in case Sprocket has doubled back to where he took off. We've also been over to the Dewerstone and over to where they filmed War Horse. Still no sign. The locals of Lutton and Cornwood are aware and have scheduled their walks for the Cadover area.

I have added Sprocket's details and poster to some more Lost and .found sites in Plymouth. Details circulating on Facebook and Twitter and local people living around the moors taking a drive around having a look as well. The owner has spoken to postman who delivers to remote farms on the moor who is also keeping eye out.

Just got back in,family and I have covered a vast area of the moors this afternoon but sadly no sign of Sprocket. Have postered Cadover Bridge car park, ice cream van in car park also displaying poster. Have checked out the black and white collie handed into Woodside Animal Sanctuary this morning but not Sprocket. Have spoken to loads of walkers and horse riders who are now all on the lookout. Met a lady who is returning tomorrow to another part of the moors-walking from Cadover towards Princetown direction. Will poster more tomorrow.

Have just spoken to the owner, she has just returned from a wide search on the moors and sadly no sign of Sprocket. She has confirmed he is micro chipped. Sprockett went missing from Cadover Bridge. Dartmoor.

Have just spoken to owner's husband, his wife is currently out searching on the moors where Sprocket went missing. I have been asked by Sam Farlap of K9 Search Dogs to pass on her details which I have done to owner. I have offered to help poster in the area if needed.

I have contacted some people I know in the area ,one lady with contacts of horse riders etc and have asked that everyone keeps an eye out for Sprocket. Just wondering whether the owners have postered around Lutton Sparkwell and Cornwood. Are there any drone enthusiasts local who would be willing to assist in search especially on the moors?

Hi, I m only two villages away from Lutton at little village called Hemerdon. Can you give me any extra info I.e where Sprocket was last seen etc. we are edge of Dartmoor and National Park Land so vast open area to cover.

Folks...I know this boy.

He is a very timid lad and may not give him self up to anyone but his Mum..Its very rural that way too.
