just a thought - there seems to be a couple of similar incidents dogs taken from their home in Shirley in particular (recently Millie the boxer - also a puppy). I think you owners should have a little chat to see if you've been with the puppies in the same place, say petshop or vets - you never know there might have been someone following you home from there??? Or vets would have your home details... there could be someone dodgy working there who knowsLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lin so sorry that there has been no news on Jay Jay - Maybe it would be worth asking the South London Press and other various local newspapers about putting more adverts in. Also it maybe worth refreshing the posters so that people know that Jay is still missing. Sarah xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello sorry wasn't able to log in for days. Please all be aware though that I really do not know if the dog I saw was Jay Jay - just exactly same age and similar looking. I can poster in Norwood Park and a small park off Tivoli Road, but I think another park that should be postered would be Streatham Common. I can't really get there but perhaps someone could? I will keep my eyes open and speak to staff owners around here. Sarah I will call you in the morning as well. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think most schools have broken up for easter break although some schools run playschemes- however the messages by email would not be picked up till they return around the 17th. If people live locally then maybe some small flyers handed to the children would be better as they will be out and about for the next few weeks. ( Nik- yes the story went to Kerry Mc queen)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lin, if you go to Yellow pages online, this will list local schools with telephone numbers and addresses. This might be the best way to spread the word. As discussed I'm in Herne Hill in the week, so will print some posters off on Monday and will take them to West Norwood after work. Nik - thanks for the info and CJ thanks for sending that email out. It was not an opportunist break in as they didnt take anything else at all they could have took my 2 yr old pure white staffy with jay jay who was in the same cage as him but they didnt they were just after the puppy didnt touch anything else at all.... i have no way of getting to the area where the lady thinks she may have seen jay jay and was wondering if there was any one in the norwood area that could possibally put the posters up and maybe contact some of the schools, pups shops etc ive sent emails to all the vets i can find addresses for in the area and also a few emails with jay jays poster to pet shops etc Thanks again for all the help so far xxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hey lin, good to have you on board and we are all hoping jay jay is home very very soon. Nik appears to have the pr in hand and, trust me, if anyone can get your story in the papers, then she can. it is really important to do this as you need as many people as possible to know yuor dog is missing. we have had two dogs that were stolen and sold on returned (by the people who bought them) because the word was spread so far. If youths have been seen with a similar dog then please consider local schools (get a poster in the foyer and see if they will run a piece in their take home to parents bulletin), check out after school youth schemes, youth clubs, youth workers etc, leisure centres and so on - anything in your area the youths frequent. also ensure pubs, video shops. newsagents are plastered and do not be afraid to talk to people and ask them to spread the word. Make your dog too hot to handle. finally, was this an opportunist break in (they came to burgle the house and saw the dog so thought they would take it as well) or did they break in specifically for the dog? if so, how would someone know there was a dog in the house (so many questions I know but it is about tracking back who could be behind this and why). dont give up, keep on, we are all behind you. sianxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Although Sian releases may have missed the deadline for the print editions, both the Croydon Advertiser and the South London Press have websites which are updated daily. CJ, did you send the story to Kerry McQueeney at the Guarfdian ? She's on 020 8330 9556 kmcqueeney@london.newsquest.co.ukLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to owner and Jay Jay was definitely stolen. He was in a crate which was locked. The people who took Jay Jay came in through the back door, placed the other dog in a different room, and them took the pup. It would appear they then went out the front door. I have asked spoken to Lin, and she will be informing the South London Press and the Metro (Nik - Is there anyone you know who maybe able to help) Have also said to inform the local rubbish collectors and milkman / postman. I agree totally with bassetsRUS. My garden it totally secure with a 7ft thick metal fence around and they still managed to get in to steal milly (miniature schnauzer now reunited cm18). There is just to much of it going on at the moment and is just not worth the risk. I stand in the garden with milly the whole time shes out there now. You just cant trust anyone...sadly! xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live in West Norwood and saw a very similar looking dog couple of days ago being walked by two young lads on Tivoli Road. Didn't think anything of it at the time as often see extremely young dogs being walked by young "adults" around here and have given up giving them a lecture about vaccinations, etc... I did however ask how old the dog was and was told he was about nine weeks. Now I'm not saying that it was Jay Jay as it was couple of days ago (Tuesday I think) and only saw Jay Jay's photo yesterday, but I will keep my eyes and ears open..Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

9 WEEKS? - oh lord, this baby should hardly be out of the nest. This is just terrible. Can I please, please ask new puppy owners (assuming this baby was stolen from the garden, not from a break-in) to accompany their puppies outside at ALL TIMES. I have a feeling too many are leaving them outside on their own, or even going out and leaving the house-doors open? I know, in these busy times, it's hard to take the time to be outside with them while they 'go', but honestly, if these druggies (and I think this is what's going on here?) are around, no young dog is safe. Once they get old enough to sound the alarm it's a different matter, but a baby of this age is trusting and friendly and will go to anybody. I so hope this little one is safe and will be reunited with his new family soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is terrible we meed to bring major attention to the amount of SBT being stolen I read the other day that SBT were being stolen 56% compared to the next highest which was rotties at 5% so we obviously have a problem if we own Staffords main the young ones but not always you can't help but wonder if this may have something to do with the recent dog amnesties as there seems to be a major increase and the breed being brought more to attention and being confused with Pitt Bull types (whatever that is). Please if you own a Stafford never eber let them out of your sight I now never let mine have a run in fear he may never return. Hurry home JAY JAY you sweet little thing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know I am a long way away but I certainly keep my eyes peeled as you never know where they might turn up. There really are some evil people out there who do this as owners and dogs suffer alike. Swamp the local area with posters, phone the local radio and ask them to put out an appeal, also contact council (dog wardens) contact local paper and ask them to run the story, ask them to posters free of charge. You will be surprised at the response. My son and daughter-in-law had their dog returned after a week, we think, because it became 'too hot to handle'. Good luck and keep you chin up. As soon as picture is put on site and posters are emailed to helpers they need to be put up in the area a.s.a.p. lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, dog training clubs, petshops, schools, deliver to houses etc. Ask postie, milkmen and binmen to lookout. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. rescue centres need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Jay Jay. Cheers Jan xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
