You cannot imagine how pleased I am that Honey is now safely back home where she belongs with her loving family and her doggie mate Bertie. The knot in my stomach has now gone, anyone would think Honey was my dog, I have been so worried about her. Thank you Doglost as I feel I have made a friend through my text messages to owner, even though we have never met. God bless you all and of course HOORAY? 😀😀😀 xxxxxxxxx
FionaWhelan
Thank God Honey is now home. Thank you to everyone on this amazing website who has been so supportive and helpful in tracking her down, but especially to Doglover and Shelagh - you have been my rock! Honey is exhausted and skinny, with some battle scars, but at least and at last she is at home. Thank you to the wonderful dog-walking, dog-loving community..... we are in your debt xxx

Shelagh
Honey has been found safe and well. She was found by owners daughter in lay-by Yardley lane. She is very thin and has a few scraps and bumps. Such fantastic news. Welcome home sweet girl.Hooray
Pam
Hello Fiona /Shelagh,
Fiona , Honey is on my mind all of the time...any further sightings ?
Doglover
Hi Fiona and Shelagh.
Oh what a shame. My daughter and family will be down this weekend from Hampshire as we have a 40th birthday do to go to. But you do know Fiona, that if that was not the case I would be joining the search with you. Xxx
Shelagh
I will be meeting honeys owner tomorrow,to do a search of area. Hope honey back before then. Stay safe Honey.
Doglover
Looked at yardley hall lane this morning on Google Earth and there are farms around and a small industrial estate. Yardley hall lane seems to be quite a long road, so not sure where Honey was spotted. Xx
Shelagh
Hi I've seen a lot of churchyards around thaxted. Could you search there. Dogs love cemetarys etc,cos they are quiet.
FionaWhelan
Hi Kimmybear I didn't your email I'm afraid - please could you check the address and resend? We could possibly organise this for Saturday/Sunday. Poor Honey - we just want her home xx
Pam
What wonderful detailed advice from Kimmybear !! Fiona , throw everything and everyone at this area , we are all right beside you .
xx
Pam
I have just re-read your messsge and you say most of the sightings of her have been focused in one main area , she maybe circling this area or retracing her tracks , could the search be focused around here ?...I see you say she is very timid, the fact that she approached a complete stranger on Tuesday seems to imply that she too is seeking help..god bless her.
xx

Owner, did you get the email I sent. Your best bet would be to plot these sightings on a map as per the instructions/advice - does it form any kind of triangle. Secondly, she may very well still be in that area, just elusive. I would scent the area as per advice/instructions and call all authorities i.e. Highways Agency & local council for roads. Also check railways if there (hopefully not) and river authorities/water areas. Rule as much as possible out. I would suggest a dawn and/or dusk BBQ in the area as the smell will whaft over fields etc and bring out some wildlife and possibly Honey. You could also get some night time, body heat goggles and simply watch the area for any animal movement and see if its Honey. Some kind firemen may lend them to you. Or, you can get similar on internet shop starting with A. Plaster the areas around there with posters and I do mean plaster. Regarding Tracker, if there are sightings a tracker is not needed in fact it could do more harm than good and may frighten Honey away. Depends on circumstances. Can you locate a food source (could be rubbish bins, pub, food shops), a water source (stream, pond, fountain) and area of cover (bushes, barn, garden)? This is all what she needs. And POSTER, POSTER, POSTER! Come on Honey pie, let's get you home. x
Pam
Hello Fiona , I do feel for you so very much , poor Honey must so desperately want to come home to you ....would an organised search for the weekend be of help ? Different people covering different areas at same time....please continue your searching , she seems to be trying so very hard to seek help
xxx
FionaWhelan
Hi everyone. Sorry for the late reply - been on a course today and out searching too. We've had another report for the same day (last Tuesday) of a sighting by a lady who stopped and approached Honey. She walked towards the lady but then got spooked by another person who pulled up in a car. Sadly she ran off again. This area has been the main focus of activity and the most sightings. If only I could understand where she will pop up next.... so frustrating! xx
Shelagh
Oh that's annoying. Often they will do for free. Never mind.
FionaWhelan
Rang all local flying clubs / drone hire, none will be appropriate and extremely expensive :(
Shelagh
01371856744. Flying club near stebbings green. If they not fly them I'm sure they no somewhere close by.
FionaWhelan
Hi there this is Fiona's daughter Katie, no further news on Honey, she doesn't have a Facebook page but we have posted all over Facebook on our pages. We have possible sightings between Cutlers green, yardley hall lane (Thaxted area) and finchingfield. I have contacted Jenny and Tiga k9 tracker dogs but no reply - I think drone idea sounds best - getting a birds eye view could work. Not sure how or where to hire one of these or even whether it could be of use. Thanks again everyone x
Shelagh
Does Honey have Facebook page? I'd like to map all sightings. Dogs usually walk in triangle when straying ,so by mapping sightings you could prompt next location. I have done ones listed on here, but some may be missed out.
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
As there are sightings, perhaps it would be an idea to contact Jenny and Tiga K9 tracker after the next sighting.
Doglover
Please, everyone in the Thaxted, Saffron Walden, Dunmow, Finchingfield, Shalford, areas, please look out for Honey and get her home to her owners. She has been seen, so must be around somewhere. If you see her and are able to grab her lead without frightening her, please try and be very quiet, she is frightened of loud noises. Xx COME ON HONEY SHOW YOURSELF. XxxLast edited: 2015-09-16 20:17:50 by Doglover
Shelagh
Hi Fiona. If she not back by weekend would you consider doing an organized search. Cos ofvast area to be covered it could be beneficial to arrange a proper search team. Are farmers on board with you searching, are they searching,or just keeping an eye open?
FionaWhelan
Hi Shelagh and Doglover, thank you both for your comments. The farmland is vast in the area and with plenty of wooded areas, trees and thick hedgerows, plus barns and stores, so it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. We will mull over the drone/helicopter thing, but she is more likely to be hiding than to be in the open. Thanks for all the help and comments - we are very touched. xx
Hollieberry
Not long ago a guy showed me a drone and whilst it was flying it showed on a screen which he had in his hand what the drone was filming .Hope you manage to catch Honey soon poor girl x
Doglover
Hi Shelagh, Honey is not my dog, but I have been in daily contact with owner with suggestions. Honey was seen in Finchingfield a couple of days ago, but since then has turned and now sighted in Saffron Walden. I think she. Old be following her scent and trying to make her way back home. Praying every day. Xxx
Shelagh
Yes Dog lover you could be right. I'm sure info not immediate. Its just they have been used quite a lot before so thought could be useful. My only other suggestion is. Go to thaxted and head towards saffron Walden. I realize it nearly all farmland so you could be hampered some what. Have you plotted her sightings on map. If so hope she keep to route and intercept her. You have notified all farmers directly haven't you,?wish I was nearer to help just a little too far out for me
Doglover
Hi Shelagh,
Don,t hold me to this, but I think a drone will record information that you can see later, but I am not sure you will seeNtthing whilst drone flying. That is why I thought a helicopter flight might be useful, as you are up there with it and can scan area.
skyninchar
was going to post the petslocated dog, but just read comments xLast edited: 2015-09-16 12:22:07 by skyninchar
Shelagh
What about a drone. Helicopter could scare her. Local flying club could have details.
Doglover
Have also updated owner on Petslocated, but unfortunately this is not Honey. Honey seems to be making her way back and has been sighted near Saffron Wilson. Have suggested to owner that if funds permit, why not hire a helicopter for. Few hours to scan from air, as Honey seems to be circling in same area. Xx
Di
Have called owner just in case with Pets Located details. (The found dog was listed by RSPCA)

On the PetsLocated site (has a photo) in the additional info it says "Other Information: No collar or chip. Please contact great baddow clinic"
Shelagh
Here is code for found lurcher cm1. CM0045750. Pets located is RSPCA website so you would need there main number and give pets located reference number. It says she has small scar on right foot. Not sure if that helps. Good luck hope its her

Just seen a post share from pets located a female style lurched/ whippet style dog found in Chelmsford

Bumped due to todays sighting.

Think I saw this dog today, still had lead on, about 6:30pm here http://goo.gl/maps/8kQ3U on corner just out of Thaxted towards saffron walden, dog looked fine and didn't go near any cars!!
FionaWhelan
Jo Harte , the message on FB hasn't come through please call me on 07976260918 thank you xx

Jo Harte please phone mobile number if you have found the lurched in Essex. I know Fiona is out looking at moment. Hoping this is Honey. Xx
Jo Harte
Hi, I've sent you a message on fb about a found lurcher. Check your inbox/ others
JulieH
Hope you find her soon x
jenjanjo
Have seen a Facebook post of a very similar dog found in Westerham area and taken to Dartford Kennels... Might be too far from her area but worth a look?
Doglover
Oh Fiona, I am praying that she will be found soon. She must be somewhere poor little thing. I am assuming all microchip details are up to date and that you have also notified Petlog the microchip people. Another idea, which I think would be better coming from the owner and not me, is why not phone BBC Essex who discuss all sorts of topics. Sadie is on from 9-12 today and she has a dog, so perhaps you can ask them to mention Honey as they cover all of Essex. There phone number is 0300 200 40 41.
On Wednesday I will be travelling from Braintree, where I live and I will definitely be looking out for Honey. xx
FionaWhelan
Hi Doglover, we have been pretty exhaustive in checking all the fields and as many of the hedgerows as possible but nothing so far. We've put the beds down in the place where she ran off and also where she was last seen, both with food, so fingers crossed. I would be so grateful if you could keep a look out for her on Wednesday as she may well have travelled further than we think. Posters are done and going up tomorrow! Poor Honey - hoping she is ok xx
Doglover
Hi Fiona,
You probably have already, but have you looked in the ditches in the hedgerows, because if her lead is still intact, she may have got caught up somewhere in the ditches. On Wednesday, I will be travelling along the B184 from Dunmow, but then through The Rodings onto Chipping Ongar, so I will definitely keep a look out for her, you never know. Xxx
FionaWhelan
Hi Doglover, thank you! Yes, we've been to all of the farms in the area and have posted through the Young Farmers club as well. There are a number of streams and the river around, plus ditches in the hedgerows so plenty of water around. I am more than happy to hang around in the night where she disappeared until as late as I can stand it (working full time too!). We have had overwhelming support from everyone - she must appear soon! Please keep the suggestions coming as we can't have covered everything! Thanks again xx
Doglover
Just looked at Streetmap.co.uk and there seems to be lots of farms in the area. Have you been to all the farms to let farmers know to look out for her as she might be hiding in a barn somewhere. Xx Come on HONEY show your face. Xxx
Doglover
Hi Again Fiona,
Have just looked at the map of Cutlers green and moved across to where she was last seen. Near great Sanford there is a river so she must have mDe her way there to possibly get a drink. So much countryside around she must be there somewhere. Xx
Doglover
Hi Fiona,
If you look at Alfie 92042 reunited, he made his way back home after 14 hours, so he obviously followed his scent.
If it were me, I would put food and something with your smell on it, where he actually went missing, as well as where he was last seen. I know it may be impossible, but is there any way, you can stay at the place where he went missing, because if he is hiding, he may very well come out at night.xx
FionaWhelan
Hi Doglover, thank you for your positive wishes and thoughts. I put the bed and bone where she was last seen, but perhaps I should do that at the point that she ran off from - do you think that is right? She covered around 2 miles or so along the main road to get to the fields where she was seen (and where I put her bed). Which would be the best place to leave them - or perhaps both? Not sure what to do for the best.... thank you xx
Doglover
Hi Fiona, I am pleased I have put a smile on your face in such a stressful time. I only wished I was nearer to help you. I did in fact help find Louka last week as she went missing in my area. Don,t forget next time you go to where you left her blanket etc, to also leave some food and water. You will find her.. Positive thoughts only eh.
Xxx
FionaWhelan
Hi Doglover, you've made me laugh! Thank you. We have taken your advice and put her blanket, toy and bone down in a barn close to the sightings and where we know she definitely was, so fingers crossed it gives her some comfort at least. I shall be checking at dawn. Fingers crossed and thank you for the support. xx
Doglover
Hi Fiona,
I have no clue about Twitter either and I am probably the only person in the World who does not to Facebook, but being 68 and having had many many dogs, I do know that they throw off a scent to find their way back. Good luck with your search today. Wish I was able to join you. Xxxx
FionaWhelan
Hi Doglover and Riverlady - many thanks for this. I haven't a clue about Twitter! We have had another possible sighting in the same place as yesterday, and the location where she was last definitely seen, so positive news. A search party is out! Many thanks as always. Fabulous news for Jasper and his family! x
Doglover
Have you seen Jasper has been reunited 91962. He stayed in some place where he went missing. Perhaps this is the way to go.xxx

Circulating on twitter.........HONEY LightBrown Lurcher MISSING http://bit.ly/1giWkFz #Thaxted #Essex #CM6 Plz RT
Polar
Yes, I think she had run along the road all that way. A man in a van coming the other way flashed his lights at other cars so he must have seen her running along the road too. I will keep my eyes open for her.
Doglover
I have noticed that on some other lost dogs, people suggest putting a blanket or an item of owners clothing in the place where she went missing as she might follow her scent back to that place and possibly leave some food. Just a thought but not sure if it would actually work. I know that when I come out of the field where I walk my dog, she automatically turns into my driveway. Xxx

Emailed owner with advice. Requesting twitter.
FionaWhelan
Hi Polar, thanks so much for this information. I'm guessing she ran along the roadside all that way? It seems she turned in to the fields at Yardley Hall Lane as she was seen by a farmer on a tractor and also someone on a quad bike. Since then, there hasn't been a definite sighting. Thank you for your concern.
Polar
Hi Fiona, I think you had most likely just lost Honey when I saw her. It would've been just before 5pm. There is a turning on the left as you head towards Saffron Walden marked as Yardley Hall, I saw her just before that sign. Her lead was still trailing behind her, myself and the car in front drove slowly the rest of the way to Walden ready to stop if I could, but I did not see her again, she may have gone over the fields?
FionaWhelan
Hi Thanks Doglover - I am the owner. I think Finchingfield may be a little too far away (hopefully) as we have had possible sightings closer to home. Polar, can you describe exactly where you saw her near Yardley Hall Lane? We are about to go and have another look in the bushes etc, as her lead was still attached and may be snarled up. Are you one of the people who helped my daughter to look for her? Very grateful for your help. Thank you both so much.
Doglover
Polar.
Have you passed on this information to owner?
Polar
I saw Honey yesterday afternoon, she ran through Thaxted towards saffron Walden. I last saw her by Yardley Hall Lane. I've seen on Facebook the owner has had possible sightings this morning at Tindon End.
Doglover
Hi Fiona. Flinching field is near to Cutlers Green as well according to Map. Are there any Vets in that location and Dunmow of course that you could register Honey with, that is if you have not already done so. Hope that the sighting proves positive. Xx
FionaWhelan
Thank you Doglover Honey is now registered at Millenium. Shelagh, thanks for area information - can I add South East to the information as well? I would consider this East Anglia but never sure exactly! Gino, thanks for sorting the alerts. Very grateful to everyone.
Possible sighting this morning in Thaxted area towards Great Sampford on fields. Positive news. Thanks again.
Doglover
Thank you for the Alert and will look out for Honey. Thaxted Green is approx. 20 miles from where I live, but will keep a look out. Owner needs to inform Millenium Vets in Braintree on their Lost and Found Website.
Shelagh
Should be south east region. Thanx
Gino
