- Any news on how Misty is? Hope she's back home and recovered well from her 'adventure' x
- 2015-09-25 20:33 Unknown
- Yes, brilliant work by all those involved in saving Misty`s life. When she snapped at one of the crewman she was obviously in a panic, and very scared. Perhaps we can have a reunited pic with Misty, and all those involed in her rescue when she has fully recovered. Will donate too. Love, and (((HUGS))) to MistyxxxLast edited: 2015-11-11 12:28:22

- It warms my heart to read stories like this, how others will go out of their way to help an animal. I don't know Misty, her owners or the lifeboat people but I've just made a donation to Newhaven Lifeboat to say, thank you.

- Nailbiting! FAbulous rescue mission by the coast guard. Hope he doesn't resent Misty too much for biting him. Poor Misty must have been out of her wits with panic. Wonder how she ended up in the sea? Hope she makes a full and speedy recovery. xx

- Report from the Coastguard:
24th September 18.28 Newhaven Coastguard tasked to Tidemills Beach after a member of the public called our control room regarding a dog swimming straight out to sea.
While the response vehicle was en route another member of the Coastguard team arrived on scene. He reported that the dog was now out by the bathing buoys. This being too far for one of our rescue swimmers to attempt from the beach a request was made for Newhaven Lifeboat.
Two Coastguard rescue swimmers on standby incase the dog came back towards the beach.
The Lifeboat was quickly on scene and two crewmen entered the water to assist the dog who was now struggling to swim and continually going under the water.
The Lifeboat crewmen managed to get the dog aboard despite the dog snapping at them, injuring one of the crewmen.
One in the cabin and wrapped in a blanked the dog calmed down.
The Lifeboat returned to the Lifeboat station where it was met by Coastguards and the dogs owner.
The dog was taken to an emergency vet and the crewman to an out of hours doctor.
Lets hope they both make a full recovery.
If your dog gets into trouble in the sea do not attempt a self rescue.
Dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
A team of properly equipped properly trained professionals will respond immediately with access to Lifeboats and Helicopters at the push of a button in the control room. - 2015-09-24 21:03 Elaine Tinker and Hemps mum
