- We have had a few in the NORTH who have surprised everyone by being out there in the cold weather and surviving.
I did send PENNY's owner the link to RUBY ID 61275 who is also a PUG and was MISSING from 12th Dec until 20th Dec in freezing weather.
We have had Hairless Crested and Boston Terriers surviving on their own for days in cold weather.
There was also JAKE a BLIND elderly JRT out for 10 days also in freezing NOV weather. He was REUNITED via family member of FINDER seeing his details on DogLost, the family member was actually in America.
All the above are examples I use for owners whose dogs are out for days especially in cold weather and a breed no-one expects to survive.
It is the greatest feeling ever when we get the news they have been FOUND safe and well. - 2015-10-12 18:27 shani

- Has anyone tried the urine trail testand leaving a coat at an area where she could be caught?
- 2015-10-12 08:02 Microchipyourdogs
- Good luck to any one who can make it up today, can family & friends please leave markers when they take food up, if their not there already, all this talk of foxes by owl is making me nervous! Stay strong Penny until you are found!
- 2015-10-11 22:18 Penrosie
- In that case Owl someone needs to be there 24/7 now to see what is eating the food that is being left otherwise that is a waste of time. From my experience of trapping foxes they are usually very wary of traps and would not enter one that has just been put there whereas a domestic animal just enter them if they are hungry
- 2015-10-11 19:25 Nina
- Have just watched Country File programme amd the weather forecast for the week looks dry but will come in cold during the day and maybe frost at night. Am I right in thinking that half term at school and colleges will soon be upon us.Last edited: 2015-10-11 19:27:57 by Nina
- 2015-10-11 19:09 Owl
- Sorry but you do need Penny to be taking food from one area, and you do need the trap watching. Apart from wildlife criminals, if you end up with a fox in the trap it will be a waste of everyone's time. By all means get in touch with Ray Dedicoat. He is probably the most experienced dog catcher in the country and we have learned a tremendous amount from him. He runs Holly Trees rescue in Birmingham and you can get a message to him there.
- 2015-10-11 18:54 Microchipyourdogs
- The Bowlandfellmrt team leader are aware of penny's plight, and members of their team have been out to look for her, maybe a large scale search is needed.
- 2015-10-11 18:46 Microchipyourdogs
- Maybe the owners family can leave some kind of marker which is obvious to those who are actively looking for penny to where food has been left and also where she was last sighted, they could be left tomorrow when they go and put the food in place, sure this will be a great help. Comitment is going to be needed if penny is to be found safe & sound, I would go to the moon & back if mine went awol, & would spend every spare minute looking for them.
- 2015-10-11 18:33 Nina
- From the little knowledge that I have about this part of the world and the activities do search and rescue dogs still help out when help is required. Was there any further thoughts on using drones.
- 2015-10-11 18:17 Penny Pug is lost
- Thank you for your posts. The last known sighting to the family was on Friday at Wolf Fell. Food has been put down but we do not know if it has been taken by Penny or other animals overnight. There seemed to be a pattern on Thursday/Friday that she was being seen active in the mornings. As soon as we have any confirmed sightings I will ensure that this website is kept up to date. We cannot thank local people enough. It has been a difficult search to co-ordinate as it is a 580 mile round trip from home - 10hour round trip drive. The family have driven this twice, in the last week, since Penny went missing. We are very much in the hands of local knowledge.
- 2015-10-11 18:03 Nina
- So judging by the last message left it would seem that if any one can give some precise sighting locations it would help those that are out there looking.
- 2015-10-11 17:55 Prestonwalkies
- Have been up on parlick yesterday and today walking our dog. We walked straight up to the pike yesterday then right of the wall across wolf fell before heading back the same way. Today continued round to the top of Saddle Fell, on the right hand side of the fence. Sadly did not see her. There were loads of people on parlick itself and with these, and the paragliders in the area, I would imagine she would have been sighted at some point over the weekend if she were on parlick itself or on the slopes below. Would be good to know if she appears to have taken food or any sightings over the week. Given the area is well fenced, to know exactly where sightings were would probably help a lot. Keeping fingers crossed for her. Last edited: 2015-10-11 17:57:56 by Prestonwalkies

- Yes search party up today. Food has been left in area last seen. Bedding and clothing left in area last seen. Last confirmed sighting was at Wolf fell (Friday). (Owners Aunt)
- 2015-10-11 16:42 Microchipyourdogs
- Have they been up today, any sightings? Hope food has been left for her!
- 2015-10-11 16:33 Penny Pug is lost
- Thank you for all the messages. We have had family friends out all over the weekend and have sought professional advice on catching/trapping her. We cannot thank the local people enough for their continued support and help. (Owners Aunt).
- 2015-10-11 16:26 Penrosie
- I hope people are out looking for her. I am at work now so can't go today but I have a day off tomorrow. I can't sleep for thinking of that poor dog up on the fell cold hungry and alone
- 2015-10-11 16:14 Microchipyourdogs
- Rugby match? Can understand people not being out looking for their dogs because of work commitments, but because their on a jolly, are her friends/family out today looking, leaving food, spreading the word? will go as soon as I can, tues/ we'd, poor Penny must be so scared and hungry, hope this poor little dog hasn't given up!
- 2015-10-11 15:02 Penrosie
- I am going to go there tomorrow and see if I can spot her.Don't think Penny has been seen today
- 2015-10-11 14:59 Penrosie
- No she has posted on her Facebook page that she is at the England Rugby match!!
- 2015-10-11 14:31 Microchipyourdogs
- Is the owner out looking today???
- 2015-10-11 12:51 Skywalker99
- It might be worth someone contacting Ray Dedicoat for advice, lots of experience in trapping dogs www.raydedicoat.com
- 2015-10-11 12:32 Microchipyourdogs
- Fully agree with Penrosie.
- 2015-10-11 12:23 Penrosie
- I don't think you need Penny to be taking food from one place to set a trap. you just need it within the area so she can Smell the bait. Something needs to be done or this dog is going to die up there
- 2015-10-11 12:22 Microchipyourdogs
- Just an idea owl, didn't realise wildlife criminals on bowland fells! Pugs are a toy breed, but they are sturdy tough little dogs, sure Penny will soon be found and back with her owners , keep positive.
- 2015-10-11 11:30 Owl
- It is not possible to set a trap until Penny is known to be taking food from one place, and traps have to be watched 24/7 as well as secured with padlock and chain. Wildlife criminals steal them. In any case, if you can get Penny feeding in one place I doubt if you would need a trap, just someone she knows with a patient quiet manner.
- 2015-10-11 09:51 Nina
- The BBC Country File programme is promoting walks this weekend for children in need lets hope there are plenty of walkers out and about that might see Penny.
- 2015-10-11 08:16 Microchipyourdogs
- No news? Maybe it time to set a trap, it's a vast area for spotting a little dog and her colouring blends in so well with the landscape., The Trap Man sells humane fox traps , he,s in omskirk and does next day delivery, or as Penrosie suggests maybe someone local can provide a trap, weather has been good so far, but can soon change. Can't wait to see penny reunited and in the blue.
- 2015-10-10 16:29 Penrosie
- Has she taken any of the food that has been left out for her? Is it possible to borrow any live traps to bait in the area where she was last seen?
- 2015-10-10 15:30 Owl
- Good that Penny's bro is there. Hopefully she will pick up his scent.
- 2015-10-10 13:49 Penny Pug is lost
- Yes search party with owner today. Still nothing. Possible sighting last night at Wolf Fell next to Parlick. Other family pet (Penny's brother) is out there today.
- 2015-10-10 11:32 Microchipyourdogs
- Is their a number of people on the fell looking, or is this poor lass on her own? If penny isn't found today, hope she is, what about a search party tomorrow.

Waiting game now for PENNY to be SIGHTED by owner and PENNY recognise her. x - 2015-10-08 20:10 Nina
- Wonder if it would be a good idea to scent around the sighting area just to keep her in that area. Just collect your pee and sprinkle it in a contained area.

- Great news there has been a sighting and in the same area as the first one the day after she went missing. I agree Skywalker99 something with a familiar scent needs to be there as I guess there has been no new scent from the owners since they returned home on Sunday.
