- This is so sad, I hope the person who picked up and then dumped Barley, for whatever reason, will come to know what pain and heartache he has caused by these actions. Rest in Peace sweetheart. My condolences to Barley`s family.

- It has been known for pet thieves to act on opportunity at accidents (on this site). In the few seconds at the scene, there was no way to know the seriousness of Barley's condition. It is just terrible that Barley and her owners had to have all this extra grief. God bless you, sweet, beautiful girl. xxx

- I think if someone picked her up AFTER an accident it was probably to help her, and then when she died he left her by the road. Maybe I've misunderstood something but it must be very hard when you pick up an animal to rescue it and then it dies en route and maybe it was late and the vets closed and the person who picked her up didn't know what to do, but Kimmybear, I must say that chips CAN easily become displaced, our cat wears a magnet because we have an electromagnetic cat door, and I was alarmed when his chip moved behind his magnet onto his throat, but one of our vets said that this is not a problem, however, I really think that any animal should be scanned ALL OVER just in case, and indeed, when I took my last rescue to a vet he scanned her all over and also looked all over for tattoos just in case. Her owners were found, btw, after she spent a miserable night in the local shelter!

- Bex, I am incredibly sorry. I am also very angry that she was picked up and then left there. However, she is not with any nasty people now. She is safe. She is in heaven. It is terribly, terribly sad. I just wish she hadn't been hit in the first place, but sometimes these sweet furbabies have already earnt their wings and so God takes them quickly (I am sure it was instant) and He will look after Barley until you join her one day, when you have finished earning your wings. Barley will always be yours and you hers, forever. She can rest peacefully now because you DID find her. She is home. She is your angel, always. (Thank you DW, you brought her home). God bless you sweetest Barley and your loving family who I pray in time, will know peace. xxx (Bex, I will email you).

Although this is devastating news at least we now have closure, thanks again for everything x - 2015-10-21 13:09 Skywalker99
- I hope she was dead when she was dumped. Why did he even pick her up in the first place? And if she died afte he picked her up if he had taken her back to the scene of the accident and left her there she would have been found earlier, person who picked her up did not show much consideration for her owners at all...not nice.Last edited: 2015-10-21 17:47:45 by Skywalker99

- Oh no! Whoever that person was that took her in his car must have dumped her on the side of the road when he realised she was dead. Why the hell couldnt he have taken her to a vet immediately. Sorry for your loss x

- I am very sorry to say that Barley has been found Dead. She was recovered from the rest area on the A120. I recognised her immediately but her identity was confirmed from her chip. Owners have been informed. So sorry for your loss.

- Grapevine says a dog was collected and taken to Brinkley Road Vets in Braintree, I think. Sadly met with RTA. I don't think it's this one, but owners need to check for certain please. A120 RTA.
Bex, you need to contact the papers and tell them you are searching for this man. They will help as it's more than a missing dog story. Call them without delay. You need to go viral on this. Call local radio too they should help with a plea. Someone knows something. We need any witnesses to come forward and tell us the vehicle make and model and confirm the shade of blue. Then maybe any CCTV along that road somewhere can zoom in on vehicles fitting that description at that time of day. Remember, if the person who took this dog is innocent of any wrong doing, he will come forward, so let's spread this information. See where it leads. Your dog comes FIRST. We do everything to find this chap, okay? Do not worry about whether he was right or wrong, time will tell on that. We just need to find him and your fur baby. x - 2015-10-18 07:31 LindaT
- Could a large poster or sandwich board be put in place on the verge where the accident happened, then anyone who witnessed this and who travels the same route regularly might be able to give more details of the type of car/part reg etc?
- 2015-10-17 09:54 Rose
- Pleased to hear the Police are being very helpful. Can u get something in the paper as posters arent bringing anything at the moment?
- 2015-10-16 17:11 bex_tremy
- The person who hit the dog has reported it but the person who picked the dog up hasn't, we have now heard that it was an elderly gentleman in a blue car, I can only imagine he was trying to help if she was injured, we just want to know where she is and if she is ok
- 2015-10-16 12:15 Skywalker99
- and not reporting a dog you have found to the dog warden could result in prosecution I think?
- 2015-10-16 10:41 Rose
- Would hope that vets who see any dog involved in RTA would check for chip! May be she was only clipped and isnt badly injured. The person who picked her up could be done for 'Theft by Finding'if they did not contact a DW. Everything xd you find her very soon x

- We now have a clearer idea of what happened, we believe she somehow got onto the A120 (main road) from Dunmow to stansted airport (near Takeley). She was hit by a car and lots of people stopped, a man picked the dog up and drove off but it was before the police were there to get more details, so we are still looking for the man in the car, as the accident was on a main road there were no houses r anything overlooking, just the people on the road at the time. We will continue posturing and sharing to try and find this man, the police are being really helpful xLast edited: 2015-10-16 09:25:31 by bex_tremy

- Are there any businesses or private houses overlooking the accident site that may have cameras that might have recorded something or someone observing the accident from a nearby house that may have noticed the car or person that took her. If so it may be worth popping in with a few posters. An accident like that will surely attract a lot of attention.
- 2015-10-15 16:57 bex_tremy
- Kim can you please check the email I sent with an attachment of a new poster, let me know if it's ok and I will send to all friends and family to put up around the county x
- 2015-10-15 14:04 bex_tremy
- We have reported her as stolen and now have a crime number, yes we are going out postering again tonight/tomorrow and I have asked friends to print posters and put up in all local shops, hopefully someone will see them and come forward with some information, we already have posters up where she went missing but are going to try and get them in as many shops around the area just in case, thank you everyone for your help and yes j have seen the email, thank you, please keep sharing, our house just isn't the same without her! - Thank you to Essex police who have sent out a ECM alerts to followers to look for this furbaby. Bex, can you get loads of posters up along the roads on telepgraph poles etc (in eyeline of motorists) with REWARD clearly noticeable. See what this brings (and read my email just in case).

- We have spoken to that dog warden and not our dog, they said it had a fluffy tail and was cream and white and not wearing a collar, also more cocker spaniel size, ours is all one colour, clipped body, the only longer hair is on her head plus she was wearing a collar, so there's still hope, thoughts are with whoever a dog that was :(
- 2015-10-14 20:29 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Bex, I would check out ANY and ALL links because as has been seen just here, people will describe colours and dogs very differently. You need to be absolutely sure to double check every dog that may be mentioned. Even if they say no chip you still need to check, sometimes all scanners do not pick up all chips - this is again, very rare, but we always advise owners to double check. Even if far away, still needs checking as dogs can and do travel. I am sure her chip will work just fine though. Your fur baby is probably okay out there: we just need that one lead and it usually comes. Hang in there and poster, poster, poster! Someone knows something. I have emailed you again, please take note of the contents. (And a special thank you to Brenda). x

***DECEASED DOG***
Sadly, I have just collected the body of a Poodle type (possibly 'Cockerpoo') from the Banbury Road near Lighthorne Heath. A recently clipped, apricot coloured bitch with white markings. No collar and not microchipped. It appears she has been involved in a RTC. Sincere condolences to the owner. Run free, beautiful little girl...

- The accident happened two fields away from where we live, the police said a 'large white poodle' was involved (could have been her as she is a very light brown). They said it was injured and a man stopped and picked her up and drove off, they didn't get any more details as were more concerned for the people involved (can't blame them for doing their job)
We have contacted any vets we can think of that she may have been taken to, also dog wardens in our area and surrounding areas, one vet in Braintree was phoned to ask to attend an accident in that area but they couldn't get there and asked for them to bring the dog in but no one ever did,
I will get a CRN as we have just been contacted by the police who have seen this and believed she may have been stolen (as she is an 'unusual young female')
Please keep sharing, we will update when/if we hear anything else - 2015-10-14 13:12 Unknown

- Don't know the circumstances of the accident but if there was a police car on the scene, I would think they would have cctv recording as this seems to be normal practice these days. Worth pushing them a bit ?

- Bex-tremy, this could be a theft by finding so suggest you go to the police and request a crime number. They need to investigate who this person was in the car. She may not have been in an accident, it may have been an excuse as they were seen picking her up. I doubt her chip has moved (very, very rare). Helpers, we need to make this baby incredibly famous! Let's go..... Bex I will email you. x
- 2015-10-14 09:47 Rose
- Have u rang all the vets locally, maybe her chip has slipped? Depends what time she was picked up if the person had to get out of hours vet may have taken her further away. Poster the area where accident was stating the facts you have, may jog someones memory. Hope she is not badly injured and you find her very soon x

- Potentially been involved in a car accident on the old a120 (B1256) towards Takeley. A man was seen picking her up and putting her into a car, believed by the police to be taking her to the vets but unfortunately they didn't take any details and we still haven't heard from any vets even though she is microchipped. Please keep sharing - we need to find this man who may have picked her up
