Probably not but worth a post just in case xLast edited: 2018-07-30 19:30:15 by JackieWard - 2018-03-05 11:11 Myfanwy
- Thank you for the Thunderclap. I have to hope that whoever has Spart thought him so divine they had to keep him. Continue to love him to pieces, he is a great dog. And whoever has him would know how heartbreaking it would be not to have him. My prayers are that he is being adored, with amazing walking and having a wonderful life. If not please feel happy to send him this way, my heart hurts.

- Myfanwy there are so many of us that understand what you have said there...My own is now early 3 years. Not a day goes by when I don't know I failed her to as well as all the upset.
I tweeted the other night (I always so honest at times) the trick is to keep breathing one day at a time... I mean it to!!
You survive because you have to. It takes a huge toll though and just know so many do understand what this hell is.
I been trying to do Pup a pinned post now for her page for 8 weeks..... Still not managed to do it. I just break down or rant off on lack of scanning. None of this hell is easy but just take one day at a time. All we need is just one good day and its happening for so many and it will for ours xxx - 2016-10-30 12:14 Seeks
- Of course. Will put one in today and also reshare lovely Sparky to Pup's page. When you talk to his Mum send her a hug as I really do know how hard it is xxx

- @ SEEKS. Hello love. Is it possible that you could put this much missed boy on your Thunderclap list please? I know it would be much appreciated if that is possible X
- 2016-10-27 22:45 Baydogs
- M, nothing you say in your post is blathering. In fact I'd say that many Long Time Lost owners would identify with your words very well. Most have to stand back from time to time in order to retain sanity and wellness....and they should not feel guilty about it. I like your expression of "Emotional Theft" and wish those in power would take notice of how much dog theft affects the families involved.
I rather hope Sparty DOES bite his thief, right up there in the trouser department - just before he makes his Great Escape :) - 2016-10-27 14:19 Skywalker99
- His facebook page doesn't seem to have had any new posts since february, facebook posts get shared and shared again so new people find out. I would try and put at least one new post on his page each week to try and get new people aware. I would also message Izzy's facebook page and ask them to share Sparty, I am sure they would...this is the link https://www.facebook.com/HelpfindIzzyWizz/?fref=ts
- 2016-10-27 13:54 Myfanwy
- Am on it, I just can't see boundaries - even year on. It is a very mentally unhealthy thing trying to stay positive - all you do is think you can do more - because there are no boundaries as to how much can be done and then you beat yourself up because you meet a friend to share time with or, you have a nice supper, or sleep at night. Getting the balance is the most challenging, so much easier to give up... but you can't. I'm blathering on. But emotional theft screws the head up and shreds the innards - once you start having those those internal organs again. Being kind to yourself is the hardest and most intellectual thing I've ever been challenged with. and I expect the thief is simply quite pleased with itself. Lord I hope Spart doesn't bite them, but sneaks out at the earliest opportunity and gets lucky. oh der I really have blathered. signing off.
- 2016-10-27 13:19 Baydogs
- Yes he is. But there are so many missing that you have to keep bumping. Also keep posters up in your own area and surrounding villages explaining that he is STILL missing. People need reminding. x
- 2016-10-27 13:11 Myfanwy
- :o)
that's kind. Thank you again. He's somewhere! - 2016-10-27 13:04 Baydogs
- Seeks, any chance of a new Thunderclap for Sparty? Could you add him to your list please?
@ M...Why not bump his profile on national dog pages , Lostbox etc again? Keep him constantly remembered... x
- 2016-10-27 13:02 Myfanwy
- ok number is down. I am still inclined to think he could be double micro chipped by a new owner and why would a vet challenge an owner. Shall chill and keep the faith. thanks all, M
- 2016-10-27 12:56 Myfanwy
- hmmm, I see your point. will keep trotting around the vets locally, just hoped all you guys could pop into yours too, just incase he isn't local. :o( It is such miserable and helpless situation. It is fascinating how the power of another's words can push another along. Chin has to go up, shoulders back, onwards and upwards.
- 2016-10-27 12:55 Simbarose
- Yes I would take the number off as is unique to Spartacus it is a good way of tracing the rightful owners. your are right there are more good people than bad , but I wouldn't risking the bad using it. My own girl stolen six months ago so I know what you are going through. Alert as many vets rescue centres dog wardens in your area. If possible drop in posters as well. My hope is that someone does the right thing and gets them scanned.
- 2016-10-27 12:55 Skywalker99
- take it down, if doglost have it and he is scanned with a halo scanner it will come up with a 'contact doglost' message. Let vets know but do not publicise it. The microchip company should have him registered as missing too - I assume you have told them.
- 2016-10-27 12:23 Baydogs
- M, my vote would be to take it down. Emailing direct to vets might be a safer alternative? I know you hurt so badly but there are bad people and hoaxers who follow these pages XXX
- 2016-10-27 12:20 Myfanwy
- Really? I've been taunted about advertising or not advertising the number. If it's not about no on will know it :o. ? there has to be more good people than bad doesn't there. I hear the concerns, but I've been so stuck and torn up about what to do for the best and currently only feel the microchip number and its broadcast is the best chance of seeing him again. Do you really, really think I should take the number down? Could I take a vote on it? What does the community think? keep the nubmer up or take it down? help, from drowning person.
- 2016-10-27 12:17 Skywalker99
- AdMIN - can you remove?
- 2016-10-27 12:17 Skywalker99
- The microchip number should be kept secret for security reasons....anyone who knows it could claim spartacus
- 2016-10-27 12:05 Baydogs
- M, have made a note of that number and will drop into my vets as requested but I don't think it is wise to leave that number for all to see XX
- 2016-10-27 12:00 Myfanwy
- Going around vets again to announce Sparty's microchip number incase he has been re-microchipped.
Can't believe the love and support after a year of his disappearance. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Is it worth asking if when you pass the vets to hand his microchip number into the receptionist and ask them to keep an eye out for the number and call me if something dubious pops up? just incase they have him visit with another, newer chip number. Messsage for vet: Spartacus' microchip number is 900088000 my phone number is 07789713766 5years old wirehaired, wild boar teckle/dachshund was intact, much missed and much loved and possibly double micro chipped, Please look out for him.Last edited: 2016-10-27 12:59:48 by Myfanwy - 2016-10-23 16:28 IlovemyboyBarclay

- Dear Shereen, and all of you who have Sparty in mind - I am moved to know he is in your thoughts. The lovely image of the longer wirehaired dog alas is not my lad. I was close to accepting his disappearance and leaving to faith that the dodgey microchip might work, but am spurred on!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT. LET'S FIND HIM AND THE OTHERS! XXXX

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=645180912323286&set=p.645180912323286&type=3&theater - 2016-02-12 08:56 Willow Dood
- Team Spartacus spent hours plastering the whole area with posters, again, leafleting houses and talking to local residents and businesses. Everyone we spoke to has been so kind and has rallied friends and family to join in the search for Sparty as well. He must be the most well known dog in West Berkshire / South Oxfordshire. We had no more sightings. Then last week the owner had a message from a lady in West Hendred (our most reliable sighting) to say that the sighting there back in early January was probably her puppy, who had escaped the garden for the first time on that afternoon. This is so disappointing as it means that we are probably back to square one. But it does make sense as we have had no more sightings. So now we are just keeping our eyes open and ensuring the posters are maintained in the area. Hopefully, one day, we will find him. I do hope so as his owner misses him so much and has done so much to try to find him. xx
- 2016-02-05 18:09 MADGunDogs
- Any more sightings of this little one?
- 2016-01-11 11:05 Willow Dood
- At the moment we are flooding the area with posters. It is very rural, so there are a lot of places that a dog could hide up in to keep warm and dry. We are hoping for more sightings so that we can ascertain his route or whereabouts. When we have more information we will decide the best course of action, whether it be trapper or tracker. I hope this is the right approach to take. The first sightings were at the end of last week, so he could be quite a distance away by now. But at least we now have something positive to work with. X
- 2016-01-10 10:38 Skywalker99
- If sightings are genuine I hope owner is going to get advice from people who are experienced in catching stray dogs such as Ray Dedicoat (www.raydedicoat.com)
- 2016-01-09 16:26 Sharon - Social Media Volunteer
- Sharing Spartys' post with hope of more sightings very soon. X
- 2016-01-09 15:01 Mollychops
- Oh that's so positive, Ive bumped his page. Good luck XX
- 2016-01-09 12:10 Willow Dood
- Owner has had two calls of possible sightings in the last few days. One in West Hendred and one in Brightwalton - both local to where he went missing. In both cases, the dog was skinny and scared and sought refuge in woods. Now, it does mean that we have something definite to work on. Hang in there Sparty - we will rescue you soon! I will post on here as soon as we have any more news. But in the meantime, please could anyone who is in the area, look out for him. Please do not approach him, but call the number on here or on any of the posters and give the exact time and location of the sighting. Thank you very much.
- 2015-12-17 19:39 Myfanwy
- Missing him painfully. From Sparty's companion dog and me. We continue to seek him and shall start a too hot to handle campaign if I can woman up over Christmas. Thank you for letting me whimper on the forum. Chin up for Christmas everyone, Marn
- 2015-12-04 10:00 Myfanwy
- Thank you Mollychops, your support makes such a difference. Willow Dood has been exceptional.
Team Spartacus met up as Willow Dood said and we have a door to door campaign between the 6 of us and others that can be mustered. Having the team makes a huge difference on many levels.
Meanwhile I received my first poster response! (6 weeks since my dear boy's disappearance). Hungerford High Street about a month ago there was a 'possible sighting'. Dog (possibly a bitch) looking exactly the same as Spartacus waiting patiently with a man (in his 50s) outside a shop. The (teckle) breed is quite unique and distinctive, yet the Wild Boar (flecked black and tan wire haired) is one of the 'accepted' looks. Fingers crossed! It's good to know the posters are working.
Keep looking and calling :o) - 2015-12-02 13:54 Willow Dood
- Thank you for this Mollychops and thank you for bumping Sparty again. Team Spartacus are meeting again this evening to discuss progress since 2 weeks ago and to formulate what to do next. I do so hope that we get a lead soon. xx

Willowdood and I are to meet with other Sparty supporters tomorrow to focus our individual and floundering energies into a concerted plan. All the support almost led to lots of us feeling helpless and we are to turn that around to become a stronger and united force. - I was wondering if DogLost would include Spartacus in their column in Countryman's Weekly. We are really at a loss as to what to do next in the search for him and this would really give the campaign a boost. Thank you xx
- 2015-11-15 23:35 Willow Dood
- Hi Marnie. I can't imagine what you are going through. I sincerely hope I never have to find out. Everywhere I go there is a Sparty poster. I carry a pocket of them, along with a pot of drawing pins and if I do see somewhere without one, I rectify it. The message is well and truly out there. I can't understand why someone hasn't heard or seen something. He cannot just have disappeared. Someone knows something.
Please - if anyone has any information at all - tell someone, so that Marnie and her family can be spared this awful uncertainty.
I am sure that the lovely people on this site will keep looking for Sparty, they just need to be given something to work on. We won't give up. Hang in there Marnie. Sue x - 2015-11-13 19:03 Myfanwy
- You have all been so kind and supportive and I want to thank you so much. I can't deny I'm wallowing in misery a bit tonight and wonder how a person is expected to deal with the frustration and sadness, the loneliness of knowing it is a personal crusade with kind words and actions of others. I reckon many of you may have lost your best friends too and followers are able to empathise and share the pain. I don't want to get used to him not being around, I took the pleasure of being his carer be a job for life and I am not prepared to let him down by accepting his disappearance, but what on earth can I do to stop me going mad? or finding my next thread of hope? It was a poster of him I saw tonight as I posted letters to others that might aid my mission to have Spartacus to come home and I crumped big time, the evening has progressed and I can't seem to uncrumple myself - hence me trying to offload with words. I don't know that the words are helping! but at least I feel I have somewhere to share my upset. Really sorry if you are enduring this... I'll press 'add comment' before I give it a second thought... I do feel better, less intense for writing, thank you. Please do keep Sparty in you minds and hopefully we'll all aid his return home.
Best wishes, from M - 2015-11-11 12:17 Myfanwy
- Thank you Molly, will research the parish magazine contact for Lechlade (and surrounding areas!). The bump appreciated (very).

- Venturnign towards Lechlade from West Ilsley.... Dear all if you any of you are out towards Lechlade, please feel happy to join me in posting posters of my lad Spartacus. He was always bold, spirited and confident, please be aware he may now be scared, defensive. He is clever and likely to hide now. But as Willow Dood says, maybe he is warm and comfy somewhere, let's hope they walk him and someone can see him. fundamentally I do want him happy.
with best wishes, from Marnie/Myfanwy - 2015-11-08 10:25 Myfanwy
- Thank you Sue/Willow Dood. I have to agree. It is astonishing that almost everyone I have spoken to on my quest to find Spartacus has is aware of him. With so many observers he must come to light before so long. ?! Am venturing to poster towards Lechlade now.
Thank you for always being there. With love, Marn - 2015-11-07 14:44 Willow Dood
- Great ad in the Newbury Weekly News. Very prominent. I do so hope that it brings some good news. I hope that wherever.Sparty is, he is warm and comfortable. But he needs to be home with his family where he belongs xx

- :o)
sparty is getting lots of support, which is some comfort, but two weeks today he has been missing and as yet no sightings. A mystical lady from Belsize Park said to explore South Thatcham between St. Mary's church and Greenham Common, maybe particular attention to the canal. What with today's big advert in the paper, this area is a place to focus as it is a pointer and as yet little else to go on. Please all stay strong for him. - 2015-11-05 07:53 Willow Dood
- I went for a walk with some posters to Donnington Castle yesterday and once again there was a prominent poster waiting for me. I put others up at different stages of my walk, including some on both gates of the recreation ground, where lots of people exercise their dogs. Sparty is being made famous. Everyone must know about him now! Come on Sparty, it is time to show yourself and get yourself home to your family who are missing you so much. X
- 2015-11-04 08:13 Willow Dood
- Do you think that it would be a good idea to send a picture and a paragraph to the East Downland Benefice Magazine. It covers the area from Farnborough to Cheveley and Oare in the south, Farnborough and West Ilsley in the north and Boxford in the west. Contributions for publication should be mailed to edbmageditor@gmail.com by the 15th of each month. Perhaps it would be wise to see the outcome of the NWN ad first as there is plenty of time until the 15th. I so hope that something good comes out of the media coverage and that he is home soon, where he belongs. Hang in there. Sue x
- 2015-11-03 22:33 Myfanwy
- Hello Sue (Willow Dude), I can send you the more wordy poster and will do so.
Love it that you are on the case! There should be an advert in Newbury Weekly News this week, page 4 and the editor is being nudged to write an article too. If Sparty is local I should like his captors to wonder about giving him back.
With best wishes,
from marnie - 2015-11-03 18:29 Willow Dood
- I was at Snelsmore Country Park this afternoon and noticed that there was a Sparty poster there in a prominent position. It was different to the one you sent me yesterday, it had a lot more information. Did you send me the version you intended to?
- 2015-11-03 11:30 Willow Dood
- I put a couple of posters up in Curridge village and gave fliers out to the lovely ladies in my Pilates class. They come from various local places and will be able to spread the word. x
- 2015-11-02 23:44 Willow Dood
- I put posters up in Chieveley today, including the shop. When I went to the Village Hall, there was already one there! I also put some along the walks at North Heath and along Giddley Lane. Hopefully they will be seen by the many dog walkers in the area. I will put a couple up in Curridge in the morning and go to Peasemore in the afternoon. I do hope that there is some news about Sparty soon. xxLast edited: 2015-11-03 18:27:03 by Willow Dood

- New poster received thanks. I will poster Chieveley (I will also ask in the shop if they will display a poster), North Heath and Peasemore. Let's hope that this new poster will bring some news. Brian and I are handing out little fliers to people we meet on walks. The message is getting out there.

- Hello Sue,
thank you again. Mum has created me a new poster which I can send if you text me your email address? But poster anywhere and everywhere! Chieveley friends and neighbours, footpath accesses and Chieveley shop would be great, yet a lot to ask of such a keen supporter! If you can get any posters into Newbury town centre that would be helpful too. I sense they are getting the word out. I've to get more posters printed and shall re emphasise at the ridgeway. The amount of support has been touching me, yet to find my Perfect One tho. Please Sue and all, do keep spreading the word,I will announce his return the moment it occurs and may that be soon. xx - 2015-10-31 18:06 Willow Dood
- Hi Myfanwy. We walked part of Old Street today, near Catmore. Nothing I am afraid. But I did see the poster there. When I was coming back I did see a gentleman looking at the poster at the bottom of the Catmore Road. Hopefully he will keep looking. It is good that the message is out there. Hopefully soon you will get some news. Is there anywhere you would like me to poster? Thinking of you and Sparty. Sue and Willow x

- A dog like mine was seen being walked (reluctantly by the sounds of things) up Cold Ash Hill, Thatcham. I'd hate to intimidate an innocent dog owner, but maybe extra vigilance there, just to rule it out? I will put a poster in the shop there over the weekend.
Best wishes,

- Dear all,
am coming to terms that Spart must have been picked up. He is a smart little dog and am hoping he leading the life of Riley whilst organising his return home.... meanwhile my heart leaks. My female dog has been under attended to during the last week and the operation she had to undergo I now see was quite a big deal. Am putting a lot out on Social Media and broader casters such a radio and papers. If you could keep putting posters up that would be grand, my ma has created a really clear one which I can forward you if you could request it by email? oak@twang.co.uk
Thank you for all words of support, from M in Ilsley. - 2015-10-28 22:12 BorderCol
- the Ridgeway has wardens or Rangers, they would be worth contacting.

- Hello, I do hope Spartacus is found soon, must be such a worry. I'm in East Ilsley and regularly walk my dog up the Ridgeway so have been keeping my eyes peeled the last few days. We also quite often drive to West Ilsley to walk out dog along the Ridgeway there so will keep a look out.

- Hi Myfanwy, posters are up and I have been for a couple of long walks- no answer i am afraid but will keep going. My hound has uber good nose but she is not a trained tracker dog unfortunately so whilst I am happy to try her sniffing something of Sparty's, I think these dogs need special training. Which makes me think; an outside punt, but I wonder if the Association of Lowland Rescue would like a little practice???! These dogs search for humans who have gone missing but maybe? No harming asking. At least it is still relatively mild outside and and dax are hardy little chaps. I will have a search on dogs blog too make sure he hasn't turned up where he shouldn't have. You have done so much to try and find him, let others take some of the weight and get some rest, you must be exhausted. x

- Thank you Jayelle, will contact the school :o)
the main Post office are putting up the poster and shall ask other regions too.
Calling calling for him!

- What about approaching the Downs school to see if they will let you send out posters or send out something via school email. Also what about a poster for each of the school bus runs which brings pupils in and out from a very wide area. The drivers and pupils get a good view from the height of the coaches.

- You are working very hard to find lovely Spartacus. Have the evening off, and have a bit of a rest. We have some amazing helpers who check sites for missing dogs. They are wonderful, and we so lucky to have them . Cassie as far as I know is still missing .
- 2015-10-27 14:39 Myfanwy
- Radio stations called and written to. More posters up. And for the time being I shan't look at other sites, as I think I might be going mad.
- 2015-10-27 14:37 Myfanwy
- Dear Sue (Mollychops), yes it was Cassie! am I over reacting, over sensitive, over tired ??? do you know the latest? found? reunited? .... still missing?
I think I need to zone out and have a cup of tea.

- Having just registered with NPR, have seen a wirehaired dachshund has recently gone missing from Bucklbury. Am spinning at the news.

- Hello Hollieberry,
he loves digging, but not known to go completely down a hole.... although a couple of weeks ago he was 3/4 down a hole. He was very quiet because he had hold of a rabbit tail. A 20 minute incident. But it may have given him a taste for what is down the holes. :o/ I have done a lot of hole staring at and prodding. - 2015-10-26 20:48 Hollieberry
- I do hope you find your lovely little fella soon, is he one for going down rabbit holes ?
- 2015-10-26 20:27 Myfanwy
- oh Indigo, thank you :o)
if you are close would you be interested in your bloodhound having a sniff of something of Sparty's? ? I'm fascinated by a dog's ability to scent and track. If a trail were miraculously found that would be astonishing. I am so stuck to know what to do now, but poster and social media more.
The words and acts of support that Spartacus has amassed make staying positive so much easier. Thank you Indigo, and all :o) let's find the little fella! and keep spreading the word! - 2015-10-26 18:34 Indigo
- I am so sorry to hear about missing Spartacus, I will start the hunt with my bloodhound x. I walk my dog along the Ridgeway at Bonhams lane and so will put posters up around there, Chilton, Harwell and along Ridgeway around East Hendred etc including the farm shops. I will tell all the local dog walkers too. I will focus our walks around the wider area with purpose and call his name along the way. Hang in there. x
- 2015-10-26 16:59 Myfanwy
- posters up at:
Ashampstead farm shop, Compton shop, printers at Steventon, Garden centre Chilton, various friends homes and cars in Compton, East Ilsley and West Ilsley. The community shop in Hampstead Norreysm Saddleback Farm Shop, The Rainforest at Hampstead Norreys and the oreviously mentioned village notice boards. Posters have been taken to pubs: The Harrow, West Ilsley, The Swan and Crown and Horns, East Ilsley, The Bell at Aldworth. Friends are taking posters to fix where they will. Sue and Willow have taken posters to The Ridgeway at West Ilsley. I shall poster Catmore, Farnborough and local footpaths in those areas and venture onto Wantage. Have sent DogsLost info to local vets, but may just pop in and give an actual poster too. All the above said, lets not worry about duplication! ;o) That doggy needs to be front of my fire. - 2015-10-26 16:25 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Please keep sharing. request from Thames Valley Police to share this missing dog although not officially taken there have been no traces since disappeared.

- Hi. I am in Chieveley, so not far away. I have a small laminator, so I will laminate the posters I have before I come out this afternoon.. I have also printed some small flyers that can be posted through doors or handed to people I meet. I tried in vain to contact MyChieveley website to see if I could get a notice on there, but there are no contact details! Talk later. Sue x
- 2015-10-26 11:44 Myfanwy
- Thank you Sue,
I've to go to the printers to get posters laminated. Mum's on the case with the radio and should contact NWN. SDK were contacted and needs nudging if he's not on that site. Had written to Brightwalton parish mag, but no response and postering is good. We should liaise to create a campaign.... I've to be in Catmore anyway, and Farnborough is easy for me to poster too, what is your location? let's make a plan.
:o) M - 2015-10-26 08:27 Willow Dood
- Hi Myfanwy. Sorry last night's search didn't bring about results. I agree with you that now is the time to really push the word. I don't do Facebook but you might and I am sure that many of your friends in the village do. If you can, set up a page for Sparty and share it to everyone you know and get them to share too. I tend to agree with you about him being picked up, especially if he knows the area well. He would be back if he could as he will be getting hungry now. We need to spread the word further afield. The thing that is nagging me is that W Ilsley isn't exactly on a through route. Coming the W Ilsley way from the A34, someone would probably be heading to Farnborough or Catmore. Have these villages been postered? There is also Brightwalton. I know someone there and will get in touch with her as she is out and about all the time walking dogs. I will print off some posters and small flyers to hand out or post through letterboxes. I will aim to go Farnborough and Catmore to poster etc. this afternoon, but will check with you first to get the latest update. If he has been picked up, hopefully he is safe, but we must make him too hot to handle. Have you tried the Newbury Weekly News and the local radio station The Breeze? They may be willing to tell the local area that he is missing. Also it would be a good idea to contact the Vets and Rescues again. SDK is where dogs are sent if handed in to WBC. He wasn't on their site yesterday. I will have another look now and keep looking today. But I can't understand handing a dog in to the council if they are wearing a tag with a phone number. It doesn't make sense. Anyway, we must all do what we can today to make him too hot to handle. Sue x

- As I said earlier this morn, today's the day to push the word. I no longer believe he can be near home after last night's late night searching and 4 days of a whole village looking with dogs et al, and I know your help is needed and so glad you are there. Black & tan wirehaired, medium sized sausage dog.

- Dear Parakitamol, thank you for your friendly and supportive words and sharing my appeal. You know it makes a difference knowing observers are everywhere. The field where he was last spotted is 20 steps away, but across a country lane. He so familiar with the area and knows how to cross a road and sits in a verge if he hears a car. My current head is thinking he whizzed out of the field to home, but a car was coming so he sat, and if they stopped to see him he would keenly have jumped in the car. I simply cannot understand an alternative and it confuses me that the number on his collar hasn't been called. I have to take solace that it was the weekend and agencies with his id info may have been closed.
And outside the front door is his chair and inside the back lobby his bed, water, snacks and each morning they haven't been sat in.
I will keep you posted. And thank you again, tis good to offload she whimpered into her dressing gown. - 2015-10-26 06:43 Myfanwy
- Today's the day the site starts coming into its own.... with all my local are; the village, hedges and surrounding fields being sniffed at and Spartys name called by the village of West Isley yesterday, a shoot (pheasants!) with more dogs and gamekeepers here today I have to leave the search to the wider world and you kind people to help me spread the word, posters and observations. If you are a visitor to kennels, vets etc please do keep your eyes open for a medium sized, black and tan, wirehaired dachsund with a tattoo in his ear.
- 2015-10-25 19:59 Parakitamol
- Hi Myfanwy, I have shared Spartacus profile on several Dachshund groups on Facebook and Twitter. And I know others have shared too. Have you left blankets or clothes in the field he was spotted last? I hope you find him soon x.

- Dear Sue and Willow,
the bitch on heat has been the subject of the evening, and wow that would be fantastic. alas I do not know of one....! He'd historically not shown much interest in that department, far to busy being a poet and a gent, but am holding the thought of him gallivanting this evening.
Meanwhile I feel the village has been deeply scoured, the day was beautiful and the community here have taken on board his disappearance with much passion and emotion.
The odd thing is that Sparty is very familiar with the area, and there was a suggested sighting and subsequent comments on late night barking around the church and the church is a paddock away and he would know how to come home. I'm going to hold on to the thought that there is a bitch in season near the church and I haven't been told and at 4.5 years of age a totally different side to his personality is emerging! A villager and I are going to explore the barking at 1130.
Jon has just come home and studying what we know, we reckon he was picked up.
:o(
I wonder if there is point in coming over... can I say write in the morning after tonight's mission.
Thank you for being there. Will write in the morning, if not much later tonight!
Best wishes,
M - 2015-10-25 18:05 Willow Dood
- Hi Myfanwy. Sorry I didn't make it up to W Ilsley this afternoon as my son dropped in unexpectedly. I couldn't just up and leave. I will be able to come out tomorrow though. From my limited experience, your best allies are the local people. It means that you have many more eyes searching. Have there been any confirmed sightings? Does Spartacus know the area well? Where are his favourite walks? If he is able, he will probably return to somewhere he knows. But you say that he is intact. So he might have gone after a bitch in season. Do you know anyone with a bitch in season? If they could come out searching with you, that might bring him out? Anyway, I will give you a call tomorrow and discuss how I can best help you. Sue and Willow x

- ... and he exactly went missing from my West Ilsley garden in the middle of the village!
- 2015-10-25 15:22 Myfanwy
- Dear Willow Dood and all, posters are going up fast and furiously with friends and neighbours, all local authorities have been contacted, am about to ask some deer tracking acquaintances if they could be organised to help for sniffing if Spartacus has gone to ground. I have been out all day in the outer environs of West Ilsley, from Catmore to Farnborough mainly, much of my home village are out looking for him in the surrounding Downs and lanes. The gamekeepers have infer red cameras out. The thing is there is a lot of land around here, a lot of deer too; and he likes deer (his breeding). If he hasn't gone to ground maybe he has been hunting and now disorientated, or been hit by a car and snuck off somewhere like a cat? so barns, sheds etc are to be more thoroughly checked... or if has been picked up, or, or, or.... Sparty is intact and maybe I need to check with teckel breeders, or dog selling websites.? Dear Willow Dood I suspect it maybe too late to come up this afternoon, but you would be welcome there are some more copses in Farnborough that could be investigated. My number is on the poster if you were to call. I am inclined to think that postering and social media general eyes and ears peeled anywhere would be most productive. Alas am all to new to this and overwhelmed and bewildered to know what to suggest.

- I am so sorry, I have only just picked up my emails (from Friday). Exactly where did Sparty go missing? Have you put posters up? Where have you already searched? I will come up to West Ilsley this afternoon with my dog and help with the search. But it would really help to know where I would be useful.

- Sunday morning and still no sign of my perfect boy, gone from the garden since Thurs morn. Will be marching around other fields and prodding, staring and calling down rabbit holes today and visiting rescue centres. Please keep an ear and eye open for him as I can only imagine him really to have been picked up. Maybe give the odd call of Spartacus when you feel you can.
wishing for the best, or any news of sightings at all. M - 2015-10-24 14:38 Mollychops
