- Great news:)) Welcome home Millie.x
Well done to all involved :)) - 2015-10-29 21:21 SuzeeBee
- Thank goodness she has been found, such a huge area to search. This is a hard lesson for the owners to learn, but these little hounds really cannot be trusted off lead. Believe me I have owned them for 20 years and have never had one that was 100% reliable, hunting is their passion and it is just not worth the risk. Well done to the New Forest community who helped to bring Millie home safely. We all love a happy ending xxxxLast edited: 2015-10-29 21:25:20 by SuzeeBee

- I have just got back in.I drove from Breamore where I live, went up past Godshill , past Telegraph hill, turned onto the Fritham road, went through Linwood, North Gorley and Ogdens never saw any dog sadly but hopefully she is laying low somewhere keeping dry well done Folly with geting posters out and everyone else, sadly my printer is not working at the moment, did wonder if she verd off onto the Damerham road yesterday , we need another sighting x

- I have just walked along the Latchmore from Ogdens and had no sightings. I went armed with posters and staple gun but someone has already postered the Ogdens C.P. the Stables tea room and Hockeys farm shop.It seems many caring people are "on the case". Let's hope she is soon found.
- 2015-10-29 15:51 Unknown
- ok thanks will go out towards Telegraph hill xx
- 2015-10-29 15:11 Becky
- I walk morning and evening from Abbotswell car park (Frogham)- Hampton Ridge towards Fritham and Odgens area.x
- 2015-10-29 15:08 Unknown
- Becky where are you looking please? no point us all trailing around the same area x
- 2015-10-29 15:07 Unknown
- I have driven all around the area and nothing sighted no posters either .Nik Rangers dont like posters but you can get them up just have to make sure they arnt visable from roads , can owner get some up also in tea rooms and shop I did explain to them yesterday but a poster will boost the lookout
- 2015-10-29 15:04 Unknown
- Thank you, everyone. If the Telegraph Hill siting is correct than we could look at triangulation and see where Millie may go next.
- 2015-10-29 11:24 Becky
- I met the owner yesterday morning and this morning - Millie was off the lead and was following a scent when she went - deer probably. She said the only sighting has been Sue's yesterday at Telegraph Hill. But at least it's a sighting! I'll be back out tonight looking, hoping she's home before then.

- A couple more notes on Millie. She's from London, so not familiar with the Forest environment. She is normally very friendly and more than willing to approach people if called. She has a proper Basset Hound bark too.
Copied from New Forest Dog Owners Group FB page. - 2015-10-29 11:08 SuzeeBee
- I have sent a message through to the New Forest National Park Authority FB page and an email to the New Forest Dog Owners Group. It would help if the owner could update on here what has been done to try to find this little girl. Praying that she is found safe and well.

- SuzeeBee, good advice as ever ! Jenny, Best to seek permission from the rangers about the posters. Most are reasonable as long as you commit to removing them afterwards. Club are now aware, but the usual email to members has not gone out.
- 2015-10-29 07:15 Unknown
- Dont know Suzeebee, have asked several questions but not got a reply, butI would think not
- 2015-10-29 07:14 Unknown
- Suzeebee there is the New Forest Dog Walkers which already know about Mille but postering is the thing to do and remember the pigs have now been let out onto the Forest and boar in some places .....as long as she is able there are lots of rabbits for her so food should not be an issue , we travelled a lot of miles yesterday and told everyone we met but the are needs to be plastered in posters and renewed regulary because Rangers take them down, I ususally hide them behind exit gates Am hoping the owners will get in touch to let us know if there have been anymore sightings , come on Millie get back to your owner xxLast edited: 2015-10-29 07:16:29

- Was Millie on an extending lead, could she be caught up somewhere close to where she went missing.
- 2015-10-29 07:05 SuzeeBee
- Sorry that I am too far away to help. Owner needs to get posters up everywhere 100's are needed. Leave an article of clothing where she went missing from and scent the area, keep checking back as these are little hounds are very clever at following a scent. Everyone searching be aware that these little hounds are very vocal when hunting so ears as well as eyes needed. Is there a tracker dog locally that could help, also lots of horse riders about, leave posters at stables and livery yards. Are there any dog walking or dog training clubs in the area I am sure their members would help search. Good luck in finding Millie safe and well. Last edited: 2015-10-29 07:09:44 by SuzeeBee

- Whilst a pbgv can run and run, of the ones we have dealt with on DogLost I have been surprised how easily some of them have been located. As I recall, the first 24 hours they have often stuck to the broad area where they went from if there is food to be had: Bunnies mainly, but they will certainly have foxes and boar. We have also had a few that have absolutely done the triangulation things and we have been able to plot their next move.

- I am a member of NFDOG committee and have emailed our web person to request that an email is sent out to all our members. There were lots of walkers there today (which is unusual, but half term) so posters needed for everywhere in the vicinity. I'll take one to Ogdens car park.

- The area where Sue spotted a running dog and Ogdens where Millie went missing are really not far as the crow flies. I walked at Ogdens at lunch time today and didn't spot her and will do so again tomorrow and Friday if I can. Will she come to other dogs do we know? It is a vast area but reasonably far from main roads unless she gets onto the Fordingbridge road. Hopefully she will be put off by the traffic.

- Not good to know Nik, where Millie went missing is safe, where she may have been seen is very dangerous .I didnt realise they could cover so much milage......there are 100's of acres of woodland and scrub out there we do need firm sightings but also need some posters out there
- 2015-10-28 20:10 Unknown
- Jenny, a PBGV can cover 50 miles in a day if it puts its mind to it !
- 2015-10-28 20:08 Unknown
- Hy Sue thank you for your update, I am pleased you noticed the dog but it is a very long way from where Millie went missing.though of course it could be her and all options must be kept open and if it wasnt her than it could be another missing dog .my worry is , as you know, a huge place to try and find a dog.......My Friend and I talked to lots of people but most arnt local , which is another worry.some asked what you do if you find a lost dog so told them take it to a vet to be scanned ....it was very kind of you to notify the owner I too am waiting for a responce am hoping it is a good reason.... but will be out there on Friday pm if not found before .....thanks again Sue andif you see the dog again would be very greatful if you can let us know as helpers are very short on the ground out here xx

- Message for jenny4 (area co-ordinator.) I am the lady who sighted a loose dog at Telegraph Hill this morning at 11.00am. I have texted the details to one of the mobile numbers given to New Forest Dog Owners Group, but not actually spoken to the owners at all, although I have left them a voicemail with my details but they have not replied. The dog was sized between a Springer and a Cocker and looked similar, it was covered in mud and running at very high speed along the side of the road between the Fritham/Nomansland crossroads and Telegraph Hill, it was heading towards Fordingbridge. I was in traffic so could not stop and the speed it was travelling I would not have caught it anyhow. Just wanted to let you know it was a genuine sighting, (I am doggie and one of you members) it definitely looked lost. Thanks. Sue.Last edited: 2015-10-28 19:46:25 by Mistydog4

- Thanks for the update Jenny. I have changed the photo so we have a larger and clearer image. Do we know if Millie ran off on a walk and whether she is usually walked on an extending lead ? I will contact the club who will email members. I don't know if there are any local.
