Hi this is Tracy...thanks for all the support.  Think the idea about the football club is a good one...if I could get some assistance for the dog in crystal palace and get a picture of dot in their mag would be a bonus, il do a bit of delving today.  Thanks again Hazel, we didnt get our hopes up too high but we had to check and thankfully we got to see her otherwise dont know what we'd have done.  Helps that we know the search is ongoing.   Thanks again everyone.  Tracy x.
p.s. Dianne if your still on here havent been in touch because i

Sadly ? this wasn?t Dot. Thank you for letting us know Tracy ? it was just amazing you managed to see her, and thank you for your true concern for her. We will always be looking for Dot, and she is so famous now, and we will never give up. There are so many of us looking, everywhere we go, and on the internet. Hopefuly your day will come. x   Part of Tracy?s email :- Hi Hazel...we did get to see the dog which was amazing under the circumstances...wasnt Dot though.

I am still concerned about the dog, spoke to the local residents who say its been there for about thirteen months loads of them are feeding her, she wasn?t thin but did look a bit mangy to me.  They were nice kind people who have nicknamed her Wolfy...and they mean well but this isnt going to help her during the winter months.  They?ve been in touch with the dog warden whose not interested and the same with the rspca.  Now Im aware I feel like it cant be ignored, not sure what to do they say the warden is adamant and wont do anything if the dogs not been caught alreadythat doesn't make sense to me...!  Anyway thanks for all your support, we wont give up hope at least we know that people are still on the ball about Dot.  Thanks again.  Tracy.x. Thanks for that Jan S. We are hoping though, that she will stay around where she is at the mo, as someone is managing to feed her I believe, so all fingers crossed for the poor thing whether its our Dot or another lost soul. Am on pins now ! Good Luck today girls xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I used to live near this area, though I'm some distance away now. Can you get some help from Crystal Palace football club ?  They have lots of involvement with the community, social club/nightclub etc.  Be great if you could get a picture and details of Dot in the club magazine which is widely circulated in the area ( I assume they still do it) and maybe an advert in the football programme ?  Worth asking anyway, good luck today.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all. I spoke with Tracy today and she says she is going to try to come to the Pet service and give out some leaflets to people. She and her teenage children have also looked out some more in the area where there was a possible recent sighting. She has now moved house, but is still in Southend area. It's very difficult for her as so many leads have been met with disappointment....But I assured her the team and all of us won't give up on Dot or her. Blessings upon you all and all your 4-legged ones great and small (oh and of course any with 3 legs!) :)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Morning Rev. Yes I realised who you were when you related the story of seeing Dot. I am very touched that you have registered on here and are posting. I know you have been a great help to Tracy, and she did tell me you had published an article and were still watching out for Dot. I would be so very pleased if this sighting would come to something. I have found in the past it is best to speak to Tracy personally as she sometimes doesn't seem to get the messages. This is the same with the texts also. I know the teenagers use the phone as well, and the mail box gets full. I know Tracy was moving house also, and I have not spoken to her since then, but she promised she would keep the mobile telephone as it could be her link with Dot. I am sending you a PM. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Rev
Hi, I spoke to her son who is an older teenager. I will phone again today and try to speak to Tracy personally and post back here after. I have spoken to Tracy a few times since Dot disappeared. I am a priest in Southchurch, Southend, and the day before I first heard about Dot, back in May, I met a man with a black German Shepherd Cross in the churchyard as I was opening up early one Sunday. He definitely hardly knew the dog with him and said he was caring for her for a friend. But when I read about Dot the following day I knew it was her I had seen with him! We have lots of church folk looking out around here (hence the alert to recent sighting) and I have published an article about Dot in our magazine which goes to a number of homes locally. We are having a Pet service 4pm 7th Oct at Holy Trinity Southchurch so will keep an eye out just in case he shows up. You never know, as he told me he used to sing in the choir here when he was a teenager! Anyone locally with a pet wants to turn up (with your pet!) and keep a special eye out, then the more the merrier! Meanwhile I will tell Tracy about this service and invite her to come and give out posters/leaflets to people on the way out.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rev, thank you so much for posting on here. This sounds very interesting to me, and would tie in with all our previous information. May I ask, did you manage to speak to Tracy herself when you rang, and was she following it up do you know? We are all still very aware Dot is missing, and would love to find her. Hi folks, I've not emailed before, but thought I should mention that I rang Dot's owners about 3 weeks ago to say that a dog matching Dot's description had gone into the Cancer Reasearch Charity Shop in Southend Town Centre. A friend who works there asked a window cleaner to remove the dog for her as she is terrified of dogs and the dog wouldn't get out! Apparently the dog had been seen hanging around outside for a while....and was a bit on the thin side. This is in an area where a lot of homeless people hang out and also I believe there is some kind of benefits place near there. It was on a Wednesday that the dog tried to get into the charity shop. It's possible therefore that the person who has Dot may perhaps be there fairly regularly or at least on Wednesdays.(Possibly fortnightly if it's for signing on?). If it was Dot, then this fits with a sighting very early on when a homeless looking man was spotted with her. And the day before I became aware of Dot missing I spoke with a homeless looking man who had a dog fitting Dot's description. He at that time didn't even know his dogs name! This may be of help to others looking out in the area. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

For those in the know, the dog that was seen in my area has now been definitely confirmed as NOT being Dot. The man I stalked for ages (without him knowing) now says hello me and my dogs and we've had a quick chat (thanks to Dandy)!!! Am still emailing posters all over and keeping fingers and paws crossed that we get some news.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I spoke to Tracy this morning and she still remains very positive about finding Dot even though there have been no recents new leads or sightings. However, she is VERY grateful for everyone's help at DogLost and I read her some of the recent postings from Dot's page where such dedicated Helpers like Yasa, Dianne and Titania777 continue to make contact with a huge list of dog-related contacts. I have tried to encourage Tracy to go along to her local Library to use their website facilities so that she can read Dot's page and also get ideas and inspiration from the Reunited pages.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good work on here everyone. I have spoken to Tracy this afternoon and assured her we have some good helpers on here who are not giving up. It's very traumatic for her not having any news after all this time, and have suggested she takes a bit of a break as I really feel she needs this now. I also suggested again that she register with the internet cafe near her, in order for her to be able to keep up with the work being done on here. She may also take encouragement from some of the amazing reunions that we have experienced. She said she will try to register later. In the meantime any ideas on what else could be done would be gratefully received. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just to let you all know we are still actively searching for Dot.... re-postering with the ?1000 reward. We just have no news I'm afraid. I logged on to say, Tracy saw Southend Dog Warden this afternoon on another issue ..She is a lovely lady & she volunteered to send Dot's poster to all dog wardens in the country. I have emailed her the poster. Perhaps one or two may duplicate what Titannia 777 has already done..I apologise, we had no idea our Dog Warden would be kind enough to do this for us...Dianne.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jan and Dianne. Yes Jan, new flyers have been forwarded to Dianne too. Have been for a very nice lunch at The Angel Shoeburyness. The manager took some new posters and a whole pile of the new flyers to put on the bars, and he suggested he would put one in each of the menu sleeves. I thought that was brilliant of him. Came back along the seafront looking for Dot and then back to The Holy Trinity Church and walked all around the church yard where she had been seen with her 'carer'. There is only one gate to the place that I could see, so he must have entered from Southchurch boulevard. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh well done everyone, especially to Tracy and family who never give up. That girl of yours is out there somewhere and I know your tenacity, dedication and sheer hard work will pay off in the end. Targetting the 'Cruisers' (this Saturday) and their 'followers' sounds a brilliant idea, as does the idea about the Bingo Hall. I have been following Kizzie's (the greyhound) story and now she's back, I hope and pray that it will be Dot's turn very soon. Jayne and Nik - You not gonna be best pleased with me !!! Just had a long talk with Tracy. Was going to suggest she cools it for a while, but I think she's fine. She knows where she's going and what she's doing so just wants to get on with it and I dont blame her. i would be the same if it were my dog. But basically, I know you've emailed the posters out today, but can you please at Tracy's request remove the section about the scruffy male. It's quite possible also that dot has been passed to someone else, in which case that description wont fit now anyway. What she would like to say instead, or similar is -"It is probable that Dot is being cared for by somebody who may now be out of the Southend area. Any information to her wherabouts will be treated confidentially, and her safe return will be rewarded with ?1000 cash" - She is quite sure on this. It doesn't matter that they've gone out wrong, as long as we change them on site so they are printed and displayed right by our helpers. What she has done is draft out a really good, and professional letter and is in middle of sending it to a great list of newspapers which she got from the library. Don't cringe, but the areas she is covering are Romford - Ilford - Dagenham - Rainham - Brentwood - Chelmsford - Colchester - Barking - Maldon - South Woodham - Barling - Braintree - Witham - Clacton - Frinton - Epping - Bishops Stortford - Harlow - Hornchurch - Harold Wood - Gydea Park - Rush Green - Waltham Forest - Highams Park- Walthamstow and Chingford. Now what we need to do is once the poster has been altered again (sorry) support her by Emailing it to all the rescue centres and shelters in all of these areas, and all of the vets in the same areas, in case she is let out or gets away. Titannia 777 is kindly providing a list which is probably in my in box now, so we should be able to start work on that as soon as posters are done !! Oooh so so sorry. But she is good today, and extends her thanks to everyone as usual. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Admin, we need some help on this one. Keelah I will let you know by end of week if your press release did not make the Yellow Advertiser for the Essex area. But as Tracy is doing a one man campaign for Essex by herself, perhaps some other papers could be contacted like The Essex Chronicle and Brentwood Gazette. Romford Recorder springs to mind also, and there must be others. Don't know what should be on the poster now, but Tracy has increased the reward to ?1000. Perhaps we could extend the postering please, to Doglost helpers further afield ??? Hopefully everything back to normal now. Havn't been in touch with Tracy today, but yesterday they had had the idea of getting Dot announced over the microphone at the large bingo hall in Southend. They had also realised that this Sat (yesterday) was the first 'Cruise Night' since Dot had disappeared so they were postering all carparks and parking bays. Cruise Night is when people come from all over the place to show off flashy cars on the seafront. It also attracts a different bunch of people to the town. Dianne may have spoken to her today, but I don't have any other news xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

She just said it was OK. Didn't say any more, but it was pouring all day both days so I'm sure she didn't want to talk about it. The announcement on Essex radio was as a result of her talking to the broadcasting team when she was there, so that was a very worthwhile acheivement. Also the address she was given on the kursal estate came from that, but as we know, it was a much younger look-alike. The search goes on xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My mother said that Dot was mentioned quite fully on Essex Radio today, so please let that bring some luck. Also hopefully this week we have Keelah's press release to go out in the yellow advertiser covering the whole of Essex. Am compileing a list of pet shops and animal food suppliers in and around Southend, and further afield. Will send poster along with a letter and beg them to display it. Have sent Tracy a print out of Blossom and Penelope's reunited story. ( The two Lab/Retriever girls ) I do hope this helps just a little. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tracy has tracked down an address in Southend where a woman has a got a dog similar to Dot, she has only had her a few weeks. The new owner was not available to speak to, but messages have been left with her daughter at the address. It may be another red herring, but Tracy will obviously try and see this dog to put her mind at rest..Dianne.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Milly's Mum- There is a Southend Airshow Website with a number on it for media enquiries which i have passed to Keelah as she is press officer. There may be something on there about the organisers. I have got to work both those days at the weekend, but Tracey is doing great, organising her own publicity by having enlisted the help of about 9 of her daughters student friends I beleive. Quite honestly she is having some brilliant ideas herself at the mo. I think the idea was that Tracy was going to speak to BBC Essex radio on the day if she could, as they will be on the sea front as usual. This morning I copied the reunited pages of the English Bull Terrier who is back home today , and emailed it to her family member to print for her. I'm sure she will be so pleased and uplifted to read that x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I presume someone has made contact with the orgainsers or sponsors of the airshow (or both!)? Does anyone know who are they? You are SO right Yasa, no-one deserves to get their dog back more than Tracy and family and this weekend will be a fantastic opportunity to do just that. The weather forecast is meant to be awful (although they might be wrong on this, as they often are!) and so make sure that Dot's helpers have large and colourful umbrellas that will make them stand out in the crowd! Keeping just about everything crossed ' this end'. Has Tracy received another print-out of Dot's page (brilliant idea of Yasas)? When I spoke to Tracy, she said how much reading everyone's comments had helped. I loved Rosie's idea about the t-shirts. Good Luck everyone!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tracy's daughter Rosie has had the brilliant idea of getting the poster of Dot printed onto T shirts for giving out the flyers at the airshow. !! Think there are about 9 of them !! I tell you what we've just got to get this dog back. !! Oh yes, and this morning just as I was about to leave for work I had 2 of the sweetest little terriers herded to my door - been lost in my lane . Next door neighbour and the finder 'guided them to me' -and the little devils were determined to get in my front door. !! Owner was known to be half a mile away searching for them, so I took them in while my neighbour set off on his bike to catch up with them. Happy endings here at least > but I went off to work with clothes smothered in mud, smelling of wet terrier !! HA HA Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

He swore, and told the police that they had better keep the dog then !!! So sorry you've had to experience this, but please don't beat yourself up about it. They don't deserve to have her back anyway. She will be far better off with someone who loves her. You said she was a lovely dog, and just got into your car, so she will be easy to home. It was a well intentioned call, a group of youngsters had followed this dog down Newington Ave. Southend, phoning Tracy at the same time....but sadly not Dot. Tracy was understandably very upset. She is a lovely, middle aged-ish, black & light tan gsd..very friendly, got in my car as soon as I opened the door. I really, really hope her owners collect her asap from the police station. I felt I had no choice but to take her there as a place of safety. On the positive side the publicity is working well..they even knew about Dot at the Police Station. If we don't get anything positive from the yellow advertiser this week, I think we've got to do something about the poster. It's missleading now as we arn't looking for a loose dog any more. Good idea to do Waitrose as some people do prefer that shop, and also Kursal Estate good idea too. Been driving about again today, all over, and round about, and then back again, but nothing. Yes Jacky-uk, did all the schools. Wrote a really nice letter and sent with the poster, and begged them not to just dismiss it, but to print the poster off and take it along with my letter to the head teacher and ask if the poster could be displayed in as many places as possible. I also requested a repy. Out of between 20 and 30 schools, I only had one reply, so they did actually just discard it I would think. the school that did reply were brilliant. They not only displayed posters but the head teacher spoke to allthe children about Dot in assembly. I honestly think schools are a bit of a waste of time, but perhaps others have had a more positive response. Thank you to Milly's Mum for your kind telephone call and suggestions, and also thanks to Dianne for running Tracy around this afternoon. Any other emailing anyone wants to do-please feel free. The more the merrier if they get more than one poster they might remember Dot better. Thanks all xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've just spoken to Tracey. She's feeling quite postive at the moment but really needs to get her girl back home. I have suggested displaying Dot's poster at the local hospital (they may have several notice boards in the different depts which are normally run by the Friends' League who only request a small fee for advertising). Loads of staff, patients and cab drivers in and out all day long and patients with loads of times to read posters whilst they are waiting to be seen! I'm sure Dot's beautiful face will be a welcome change to the other, normally boring, posters. She said that she hadn't thought of that and will get along to the hospital asap. As has already been said, she doesn't have a car but Dianne is going to her this afternoon to ferry her around (well done Dianne and thank you!). I also suggested asking cab offices to display a poster back at 'base'. Tracey has handed Dot's poster to load of cab drivers but hasn't done cab offices yet. Once again, not just drivers in and out but also loads of late night customers. Tracey and her family (not to mention her fantastic DogLost supporters) are doing a brilliant job but they just need that one sighting and that much longed for phone call. I will continue to rack my brain for other ideas to bring Dot back home. Keeping just about everything crossed 'this end' that lovely Dot will be reunited with her worried family very soon. Come on Dot, show your gorgeous face NOW!!! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Dianne. My husband's just gone down there again, bless him. Just to drive around. Think he'd be so chuffed to find her. I'm worried now that she will go un- noticed even if seen, because if she is 'being cared for' by someone, and on some sort of leash, people are not going to connect her with the dog on the run. Tracey and kids checked out the people living in tree houses at Prittlewell park protest site today as I spotted a black GSD within their grounds, but it is a pure bred, and not Dot unfortunately. At least we have the yellow advertiser article coming out this week, but any ideas would be gratefully received. If there are any other DoLost helpers who are in Southend area and have not come forward to help in this search, could I please appeal to you now. We need your help, just to be around, watch, and look out for Dot especially at the weekend, perhaps from Fri night, Saturday and Sunday. We have had two sightings over the last two weeks, both at weekends, with a scruffily dressed youngish man with long hair, and wearing a hat. The first time he was seen, he also had a small brown dog with him. It has been confirmed that the GSD type dog with him was indeed female. If this is not Dot, then we need to be able to elliminate her from our search, so that we can move on. Sightings were in the Southend Pier area, arcades, and Southchurch area. There is also now, a reward of ?100 being offered for Dot's safe return. Thank you. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to Tracey and she has had another call, this time from a lady, who described the same person with the dogs, at another location in the town. This sighting was last weekend, but also sounds very encouraging so the trail is getting hotter. We just hope it is Dot. Tracey wishes to thank everyone for their continued support, and if Jayne it was you who rang her a couple of days ago she wishes to apologise for not realising quite who you were !! (Tracey is not on line so she wouldn't know). She said she was feeling really low at that particular point and you let her rabbit on about it all, and really lifted her spirits. She said you were really lovely and gave her great encouragement. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tracey has been given information that Dot was seen with someone on the night she went missing, and again the next day. The informer seems sure it is the right dog, and Tracey and her family are following this up. Due to some nasty comments regarding the dog, we are not prepared to say any more than this at this time, but sighting would have been in the right location so we are very hopefull for news soon. Fingers crossed everyone xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just sent posters of Dot with covering emails to the first 10 hotels on my list (approx 30 in total). Had two email addresses rejected so far. I will continue over the weekend with the remainder, unless I hear to the contrary! Keeping my fingers crossed that Tracey will get the phone call she's been waiting for very soon. Nik - your Echo response posting was so precise and to the point. Well done. There really are some very sick people out there. Hopefully, some good news will result from the newspaper coverage and Dot will be home soon. Just wish I was near the area and could help but my thoughts are with the owners and all the wonderful helpers. CaroleLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think the article must have obviously gone out yesterday then on a later edition to the one I bought. The same article was in the very early edition today as well then, so we have had brilliant coverage. Lisa thankyou for your suggestion of Sue at Acres Way. I'm sorry I havn't actually thanked her on this page, but yes she was the first person to be contacted as it was from Acres Way that Dot came originally. Tracey has been in contact with Sue continuously, but Sue would recognise the dog immediately as she had her for so long originally trying to home her. Sue is always brilliant in this area, and has been in contact with the dog warden even whilst she has been off. The dog warden is herself familiar with Dot. However Acres way had been mentioned in two earlier posts by me - 9:06 on 3/5/07 and 9:54 on 5/5/07, and as I say have been, and always are, an immense help. Thankyou Collymeg for the information about the obedience show at Garons Park on Saturday, and for Emailing the poster for us. What time does the show start please ? as Tracey will probably want to get along to give out flyers. Thank you Nik for responding very well to the pathetic person who has posted on the on line version that you have given the link for. It is absolutely awfull that the young child has been taken, no matter what the circumstances were, and of course we all hope that she will be found unharmed as soon as possible. As this is out of our hands, it does not seem unreasonable to me that we should not all continue with the search for Dot at the same time as wishing her back home. Lets hope we have a happy outcome for both stories. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This was posted on the Echo page: $$$ Posted by: Lisa Jensen on 9:20pm Wed 9 May 07I called the number on the poster the other day and left a message but no one called me back. What I said was call Sue at Acresway, 01268770402. She runs the kennels that take in the stray dogs and works along side the dog warden in Southend. $$$ This has probably been done, but it would be good PR to thank her. You never know, but you may recruit another helper !Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nothing in the Evening Echo tonight or the Southend Times which came out today. The Echo is definitely the best, and most popular paper all round. Thank you Keelah for telephoning Tracey. She has picked up a lot this afternoon. A friend has been driving her around and she has phoned the police again, but nothing. I also called them this afternoon and spoke to the same really lovely police lady as Tracey. She has been so sympathetic and helpfull by sending searches out to all police stations, and has allowed me to Email a poster to her which she will circulate within the police. She also gave me the telephone number for the railway police 01702 466730 which Tracey has dealt with. Telephoned Earls Hall Veterinary Hospital this morning and Medivets this afternoon. Both have heard nothing but have taken Dots details. There was nothing in the Evening Echo this evening Keelah, but its early days. Have suggested the kids write a letter, and send it with a poster. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you soooo much Dianne for doing that. Tracey is finding it hard now I know to keep going, and she cant read all the other dogs pages to get reassurance and encouragement from them as no computer. Also thanks to Milly's Mum for your kind post. Its nice to know you are out there thinking of us. Have just come out of work and spoke to Tracey, but unfortunately she has had an upset as just met Dots double in gunners park, so now beleives it may have been that dog that was one of the sightings, so now doesn't know where to look. Thanks Nik for the other MOD contacts-I will do those. Also have had a kind reply from the gentleman at the George and Dragon Pub on Foulness who is going to display and circulate the poster. Just wanted to say thank you to Yasa, Dianne and anyone else who has been helping with the search for Dot. I know the area vaguely as I used to visit the Southend area many years ago when I lived in Essex but I'm now too far away to help other than to give words of support. Dot's family are doing a fantastic job and following all the good advice that is always readily available on this site, especially the BBQ in the park (wonder if they got any customers!) and scenting. I am certain that it will only be a matter of time when everyone's efforts will pay off. I shall be keeping a regular watch on Dot's page whilst hoping and praying that she will be back home with her family very soon. Good Luck!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This means dog was in the area 3 days, and although no recent sightings, good chance she is still around there. Good water source and bin bags etc. Have suggested to Tracey she does door to door leaflets to houses skirting the park grounds, and to perhaps get kids on handing out flyers at any boot sales in immediate area. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Searched all this afternoon, drove around some back streets and handed out flyers to people with dogs near the MOD grounds and on Gunners park land. Walked Shoebury East beach again, talking to walkers and bikers. Handing out flyers. Gave poster to The Magic Roundabout eating place Shoebury beach. The Angel PH and restaurant took 4 flyers for display and a group of customers took a large handfull for display on their housing estate. The Captain Mannering PH took some but the big harvester on seafront refused to help! No custom from me now. Gave flyers to lady walkers who train on the prom every single day, one ladies husband is a part time coast guard, and will look out. Also gave flyers to fishermen at Uncle Toms Cabin who are there daily. I am beginning to fear she has gone onto the Foulness MOD land. Thank you Dianne for your help again today, you have been such a help.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If she's gone along the beach further, she could have got into the MOD and onto Foulness, or she's turned off and gone into Shoebury town. She may also have gone back the other way toward home as she knows she has to stay by the sea. She's probably used to the smell of sea water and associates that with home. I think we need to extend the postering right into Shoebury old town and along the seafront from Shoebury to her home now. P G let us find her.x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If anyone deserves to get their dog back, its this owner. She has been out since dawn-I just spoke to her on her mobile and she is sitting with her son in the middle of Gunners Park listening to all the wildlife and cooking sausages on a bar b q !! She is going to leave scent and smelly food hopeing Dot will find it. Not sure how long she will stay, but she is going back at dawn. I have emailed a letter explaining the situation, and a poster to The Wildlife Trust on Shoebury Old Ranges, asking staff to look out for Dot. And even more amazingly I have discovered there is an 18th century pub, a sub post office and shop on Foulness Island which I didn't know existed. Plus I have written to them too, and sent a poster. Didn't know anyone was allowed on the MOD firing range, let alone habitation. There is a church too apparently. Anyway, i've asked them all to look out for Dot in case she goes round that far. You have to obtain a pass to get in there and make an appointment but it is possible. The pub is up for sale along with the post office HA. HA. Fingers crossed we find Dot soon xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Gunners park area is shrubland and open rough ground with streams of running water passing through it. Plenty of rabbit pings and rabbit holes. Lots of fenced of sections as right on the edge of the MOD site. Owner is certain its a genuine sighting as rang the gentleman back to confirm description and it definitely sounds exactly like her. It is a vast piece of land but regular walkers and bike riders who are all very concerned. Have had to come away now, and unfortunately am at work Sun and Bank Hol Mon, so seriously any postering in that direction and dog walking through there would help us so much. Owner was there all day, about twelve hours yesterday, and they really have postered well. Will suggest another ring around of the vets later. Dianne thank you so much for ringing Dots owner. She really appreciated it and has made her feel better, but I beleive she is struggling with it all today. It is so stressfull and not sleeping doesn't help. She is doing so very well though and has been to the library today and photocopied hundreds of flyers. They are postering some of the other roads now. If she could get another decent sighting it would help. That is a brilliant help Dianne, and just the type of people we need on our side. If you find any more like him it would be wonderful. Also owner has no computer so any flyers or posters you can do this weekend as Bank Hol would be a real real help. The 3 to a page ones are brilliant for postering or handing to people. I know owner would really appreciate help in this department. If you want the flyers PM your Email address to me. They work out really quite cheap. We only need that one pair of eyes and if we could get her before the Bank hol hots up it would be brill because she is going to get even more terrified. Just hope she stays up in that area and nobody tries to catch her and chases her toward the roads. Thanks again everyone xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thankyou Jan for the flyers 3 to a page withcorrect ears. Have Emailed those and large poster to owners family member with a computer. Thank you again for the ears Dianne, they have made so much difference. And really appreciate your help on the sea front tonight. It is further up that the sightings are. and that is where we are concentrating. Do you remember where Nether Nether land used to be, and there was the landslide? Up by Three Shells and Peter Pans Playground. We think she is holed up on the high ground where its still a bit rough. Have received scenting instructions from Dee, and owner is in the process of setting that up. Has ed her place, and taken Dots blanket, water and food and going to start scenting properly tomorrow morning. Thanks everyone for the help, and to Dee for the very explicit instructions!!!! Fingers and everything crossed now. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dianne great work on changing the ears, glad you know how to use the clone tool. We would have done it but it is a time factor. Changed the picture on the flyers and have e-mailed them to Yasa. Keep up the good work and hope Dot is home soon. Jan xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have been in the Western Esplanade, Chalkwell Esplanade area for an hour or so this evening..no luck I'm afraid..but just to let you know I am looking for Dot too.. Dot's owners have done a wonderful job with posters, I took a couple with me but struggled to find anywhere there was not one already! Dianne.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Wow, I've been out a few hours and just look at those wonderfull ears. !! Thanks Dianne they are brilliant. We have had ANOTHER SIGHTING yesterday afternoon in the same area, only up on the cliffs where there is shrubby land. Dot apparently unhurt but running scared. Owner and family around there now. Acres Way advised us of derelict toilets where a dog was holed up once before so its worth a try xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes jan, pity we just couldn't swap the ears. Just Emailed the dog warden service and told owner to ring also again in the morning plus Acres Way kennels 01268 770402, South East Animal trust kennels 01702 552951 and RSPCA 01702 533967. These were numbers on dog warden page of council. Thanks for the posters Jan anyway. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Gayle was struggling to get a picture and the first one on the poster was a belgian shepherd. Tried to help out and the one on the poster now is the best could find. Not sure if ear carriage can be altered. Unless someone could do a search and find a better one will have to keep this one. Jan xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just come back from meeting owner and her children and other little dog on seafront with great wad of posters for them. They have been walking along there calling and puting what posters they have up for 5 days now and are worn out. Have no car and no man in their life to help out here. Dot last seen Sat dodging traffic on sea front in the busiest place possible where all the amusement arcades are ,and everything that is noisy. At night it is just as bad with crowds of noisy people, and souped up cars. Loads of places for a dog to get food but water is a major problem. A nervous black GSD type dog is not going to be popular with people either - even though she is the most friendly and loving dog you could meet. Nightmare. Need helpers. ADMIN - Have been in touch with owner. Picture on poster is pretty good likeness except for ears which should be more upright like GSD. If you can improve it would be good, but dont want to make it worse. Think the first picture we had was too hairy so can't really go back to that. . The coat is correct on this one. Just worried finder will not match the dog with poster due to ear carriage. Owners are using these anyway for now , and are doing really well with postering so hopeing for a sighting soon.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yasa - make sure the scenting is not random but accurate. Let me know if you need help on this. Get posters up to start, rather than scenting and introduce that once sightings come in. If you can, plot sightings on a map and then we can run through the habits dogs on the run have - they tend to follow a pattern. SB xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is just a few miles from me. have spoken to the owner and although no internet access, there is a family member who is, and will be able to print the posters. At the moment they are doing a grand job of postering everywhere by using their own posters, and have also been trying to scent the area back to home . Have been takeing their other young dog out with them in the search, and have roped in a few friends to assist. They have phoned dog wardens, all the pounds and police stations in the area, and all the vets. majorjet has kindly let me twist her arm to draw us up some posters which are three on a page to enable leaflets to be made to hand out to postmen, dog walkers etc. Quite a nervous dog, but loves children. Have suggested childrens play areas to look but owner feels she will stay away from noise of any sort. Will update when any further news, but I have suggested personal visits to pounds, and police stations as no proper photograph and different peoples interpretation, and description of a dog can differ. Hope Dot is found safe and well very soon. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
