An older male Lakeland has been found in Whitby. The rescue that has the dog is http://maxismates.org.uk/. Their vet says it is not a Lakeland but an Airedale but they are wrong. Hi thank you for asking and for your support. The dog warden scanned the dog today and rang to tell me that it was a female Lakeland Terrier that she saw. We are therefore continuing our search for Maxi. Alison

Hi I'm Maxi's owner. I've just spoken to the council - the dog warden is away today but she will go and scan the dog for the chip tomorrow and call me then. Really hope it's Maxi.

I thought it was the law for a found dog to be reported to dog warden - can the finder get dog warden to contact finder and have microchip checked.

From Maxi's facebook page it seems that his owner is still trying to locate the found dog to rule it out....but is being stonewalled by the finder.

Comment on post on Doglost North West Facebook Group ....Re Lost Dog.....post got through to local dog groomer and now re united with owner. Thanks for everyone's kind concern.

Lots of activity about this on Maxi's facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/HelpFindMaxiTheDog/ ), apparently the police have now been contacted, not sure if CJ can help stir them into action? The dog looks very similar and Lakelands are not that common.

The owner of Maxi has just phoned and she has contacted the finder who is now saying this dog belongs to a neighbour. She still believes this could be Maxi and further steps are being taken to try and get to visit the finder and get the dog scanned. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE FINDER LIVES. If so please call Maxi's owner on the number above.

This dog has been found in Preston and possibly be Maxi. The finder is saying she wont take this dog to be scanned for microchip (against the law). Here's the facebook page:

I agree with previous comment, I really think this dog found in poor condition is Maxi. Keeping my fingers crossed for Maxi & his owners for a happy reunion.

Great he is MICROCHIPPED and was wearing a collar on with contact details.

Hoping Maxi is found asap...love all dogs but I have a lovely Lakeland too x
I've had a look around the Birkdale Village area a few times. Hope he hasn't gone onto the railway line.
I saw this on the Animal Wardens website. I know it's a distance but could someone have picked him up and then he got free? Prob not but thought worth a check. Will keep sharing and looking until further update.

Can you help find missing dog Maxi, who disappeared in Southport?

A Southport family is appealing for people to help find a dog called Maxi who went missing last week.

The much-loved pet shot off while on Weld Road in the centre of Birkdale Village Thursday (November 26).

He crossed the railway line and got trapped in the gates some time around midday.

From there he ran off and disappeared.

People are now being urged to help join the search to find Maxi and help reunite him with his worried owners.

Maxi a black and tan lakeland terrier has been missing in Southport since Thursday November 26

Maxi is a black and tan Lakeland Terrier - blond, grey, black and light ginger in colour.

He is about 14 inches high, and has a short tail, folded over his back.

When he ran off he was wearing a red collar.

His owners believe he may be somewhere in the Weld Road area of Birkdale, or may have run across to the nearby beach or sand dunes.

If you spot him, please call the owners on: 07941 178662.

A reward is being offered for Maxi’s safe return.
