- Owner have you heard about Bach Flower Remedies. We have had rescue dogs in the past that have been very troubled. We were told to get a bottle of Holly and a bottle of Walnut and give them a drop of each on a biscuit twice a day. Over a few weeks they calmed right down.
- 2015-12-11 18:48 ClaireC
- Hi Dave you could try the Adaptil diffuser and collar which may help to calm. You can buy these thro your vet. X

- Hello Everybody, Huck's owners here. Just wanted to let you all know how very touched we are by the efforts and goodwill that everyone put forward to help us find Huckleberry. Thank you a million thousand times over. Everyone contributed to his rescue - it was like a set of links - if one link had been missing we might not have been so lucky in getting him back and that is why having a whole community help to find him was sooo important. Huck is having his ups and downs. Yesterday he had a lovely calm day and seemed his happy old self but during the night he had nightmares and was howling again. He calms down when we hold him and speak to him but I think it is just going to take some time for him to get over it. We are tired, we have been up alot with him so please forgive us for not being a bit more in touch. Again thank you all for your care, he is so precious to us. Jayne & Dave

- So thrilled to read that Huck's been found. Having heard about him from Claire at The Halzaphron, we walked the length of the beach on Sunday afternoon with our Labrador hoping to track Huck down. Conditions were terrible and it felt hopeless - we were really depressed! So happy that he's safe and well - what a massive relief. Very well done to everyone who helped in his rescue. Merry Christmas Huckleberry! Xxx

- Here is the update. Hucks owners asked if I would like do it, as they are obviously very busy giving cuddles to their boy :)
Well I have just got back in ( had to walk my dogs before they exploded) after going over there this morning & meeting Mark ( with his drone) & the owners to look for Huck. The owners had managed to persuade the Coastguard rescue team to attend smile emoticon They set off along the path ( split into teams) to look at various places. I was with Mark, watching his drone check the beach at Gunwalloe in the other direction, as we could see something there but couldn't make it out ( wasn't Huck). Mark was just going to change his drone battery, to go around to the cove where he had previously heard a dog bark, when he got THE important call from Hucks owners to say he had been found. The Coastguard rescue had been walking along the path & heard a whining dog, it transpires Huck was stuck on a ledge about 20 feet down from the path ( the edge of path was overgrown with bracken & shrubs etc. It is thought that the wind last night & today had carried his whining & bounced it off the cliff face to make it sound as if it was coming from a different place). The coastguard guys got him winched to safety. Needless to say he was very happy to be rescued. A great job with a happy ending. I personally would like to thank Mark Thomas with his drone. He is brilliant, great to have finally met you Mark.
The Coastguard Rescue were amazing, thanks to them too :)
Hopefully we may be able to see the happy reunion, as Mark managed to film it. I will add the link when it has been uploaded. - 2015-12-07 15:18 Jasper - Area Volunteer, Somerset

- CALLING ALL HELPERS. If anyone is free tomorrow to help search for Huckleberry, who is a 6 month old pup, please can you meet at the car park TR12 7QD at 9am. This is 1/4 mile south of the Halzephron Inn near Gunwalloe. It is a large private car park & owner is happy for people who wish to help, to park there. Mark Thomas, is going with his drone, as it is feared Huck' may be stuck on a very steep slope/cliff near to there, as whimpering noises were heard as the light faded tonight. His owners will also be there. Thank you

- The weather was quite horrible today, sea drizzle came in. Mark (our drone guy) managed to go over there & launch the drone, but was hampered by the rain misting up the lens quite a bit. It seems they were packing up due to bad light & heard a dog whimpering, possibly coming from steep slope/cliff edge. They thought it could have been a dog from the only house nearby, but that was inside & had not been out, so it could be Huck'. The search will resume in the morning as it is forecast to be clear early on & hopefully if it is Huck he can be rescued. ( Mark will try to get his climbing friends to assist, the Carbis Bay Crew, if anyone is available)

- One of our members has a drone & was going down there this afternoon ( 2.30pm) to see if the weather conditions were favourable to launch it. Will update later when he gets back.

- We are the couple walking their beagle that the owners stopped to tell us that Huckleberry was lost. After speaking to you we walked from Halzephron House around the coast path down to Church Cove and back along the road up to Halzephron House then to the rear back down the coast path towards Gunwalloe Beach, in all about 2 hours continually calling for Huck and stopping to look across fields and on the cliff side. We continued up passed the Salt Cellars building and into the field behind back into the village. We passed 3 other walkers and alerted them to Huck being missing. Today we spoke with the farmer down at Church Cove and he and his family are aware to keep a look out for him. We will continue to look for him in our daily walks. We have also tweeted about this and shared the lost poster. Wishing Huck is reunited with his family as soon as possible.

- Have spoken to owner & sent advice sheets.
Huck went missing on a walk on the cliff path. He was with his mother & sibling, they all went off exploring & came back, but Huck didn't.
The coastguard have kindly done a sweep of the cliff & area with no sign.
