I am truly devastated to be writing this, this beautiful little man has not made it home :-(

George was retrieved from the lake earlier this afternoon. George has touched the hearts of so so many, and he will ALWAYS have a special place in mine. I would like to thank EVERYONE who has worked so hard to give George’s family the closure they so desperately needed. Big thank you to his finders, everyone who has searched and postered all hours of the day and night, Blackpool Gazette, and everyone who helped to spread the word by sharing his posters. Stephen is very grateful he now has that closure, and can lay George to rest at home where he belongs. My thoughts are with the family at this sad time. Sweet dreams little man, have lots of fun at rainbow bridge xxx

Give your furbabies an extra big cuddle tonight, I certainly will be xxx

Oh no, I am absolutely heartbroken and the tears are rolling down my face as I write this.
Steve, this poem is for you and your Dad and I hope you get to read it.
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying and you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, 'It,s me, I haven,t left you, I,m well, I,m fine, I,m here.
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea.
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today your arms were getting sore, I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, you will tend it with such care. But I want to re-assure you that I,m not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house as you fumbled for your key, I gently put my paw on you and smiled and said "it,s me".
You looked so very tired and sank into a chair, I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.
It,s possible for me to be so near you every day, to say to you with certainty, I never went away. You sat there very quietly then smiled, I think you knew, in the stillness of the evening, I was very close to you.
The day is now over and I smile and watch you yawning and say "Goodnight" God Bless, I,lol see you in the morning.
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I,ll rush across to greet you and we,ll stand side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out, then come home to be with me.

This was sent to me when my beloved Penny passed last Christmas.
God bless you Steve. Xxxx (Val) from Essex.

So much support for the gorgeous George, I really cannot thank everyone enough for todays efforts - they have been out for hours! The zoo is fully aware, leaflets are being handed out, there is also a door to door leaflet drop being done - so much support up there in Blackpool!

Thanks for the update. I am still praying every single hour of every single day that George will be found. Someone, somewhere, must know where he is, perhaps alerts to just outside of Blackppol and surrounding areas might be a good idea, as someone may have taken him off in their car thinking he was a stray. Thinking of you Steven if you are reading this. Xxxx

A fabulous team of people out again, couple of updates as follows:

Nothing to report. I even saw a fox which must be a pretty rare sighting. I have searched all around the cafe and bandstand and round the lake. I spoke with some anglers as well. Apprently it's only 4-5 foot deep all over. You can clearly see objects in the water. There's large stones loaded in round the outside egde of the water. If he went in and is now caught on one of them by his coat he may not come up. You would have thought there might have been a splash noise?? Sorry I don't have better news.

I have searched under what feels like every bush in Stanley park. No sign I'm afraid. :o(

I have emailed poster to a few people, some have collected from Aimee - really hoping this gorgeous little man is soon found and back home with Steven for Christmas xxx

Thank you Bertie boo

Sadly no sniffer dogs, have looked into this already with one of our coordinators.

There's a few of us meeting up weekend to plaster the area with posters and search again. He needs to be found :( xx
Microchipyourdogs
Walked round Stanley park yesterday, no sign, checked bushes and ramps on skate park, though did notice the gates to model village has quite a large gap on right hand side a small dog could go under, shouted for George, don't know if it is now locked up for winter, may well be worth checking, if someone knows the owners to open up. Has no one in local area got a sniffer dog.

Thank you Doglover. Steven is reading comments on here so he knows we are all thinking of him. It's such a big park, but we have all searched as much as we can, covering as much undergrowth etc as possible. Like you, I'm praying someone has taken him in and he's curled up warm on someone's couch xxx

I have just chased Blackpool Gazette up again, they have promised me George is going in tomorrow's paper. They have spoken to Steven the owner who has given them any further information they needed. I have everything crossed that this brings some positive news 💜 xx

There is a fabulous team of people helping on Saturday to poster and search all of Stanley Park. Not sure what time everyone is meeting but I will post in here when everything is confirmed xxx
Unknown
As he has been seen in the park. Would it not be a good idea to set a trap with the owners scent? Or would it be too dodgy?
DogLostNina
I am sure somebody has thought about a sniffer dog or a search and rescue dog of some description to help in the search.
Doglover
ClaireG, it breaks my heart for Steven and I know when I spoke to him on Sunday, he was heartbroken. I still think he is somewhere in the park. When I looked on google at Stanley Park there seemed to be lots of areas with shrubs and trees, have they all been searched thoroughly. He is a very old dog and may just have laid down somewhere. Failing this I can only think that someone has taken him in. I am still praying for him to be found and am thinking positive thoughts all of the time. Give my best regards to Steven the next time you speak to him from the lady in Essex who phoned him about looking in the cemetary. Cx

DogLostClaire Gresty - Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - North West
Likewise Doglover 😰 Nothing to report sadly, people have been out again today. Where can he be? The sightings near Teesdale, seems this is a young little white and tan Staffie, I've seen the photo and if dark, people will just see a white and tan dog. I do not believe the one being sighted is George.

I have spoken with Steven tonight again and as you can imagine, he is devastated. He wants nothing more than George home, and although he is not giving up completely, he has to try and come to terms with the fact George may not be found. We will do everything we can still, and Steven is happy for us to, but he is also finding this very hard. Thinking of the family and of course George. Come on little man, show yourself xx
Doglover
Oh please George, be found, this is breaking my heart. Xxx

Shared poster to two local radio stations asking them to please share it no new sightings today.A few people have been round and about searching x
Doglover
ClaireG I do hope the Blackpool Gazette can publicise George,s disappearance then more people will be out looking for him, or maybe someone has taken him in. Not everyone, including myself, does not do Facebook or Twitter and not many people know of this site, so posters and newspapers are the best bet. I will keep praying for little George. Xx
DogLostClaire Gresty - Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - North West
Doglover - I'm exactly the same, cannot stop thinking about him :( Stanley Park is very big and he could well be hiding somewhere, searches were carried out yesterday as much as they possibly could, but no sign of him. Let's pray there is some news today xx
DogLostClaire Gresty - Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - North West
I have just spoken to Blackpool Gazette who have very kindly offered to help. I've emailed them the details and some photos. Really hope it brings some news xx

Bet the little chap isn't far away, not unless someone has taken him in. He needs to get home for his creature comforts, Hope he turns up today xxx
Doglover
Pleased to hear that ClaireG. I was just about to google local Radio Stations in Blackpool. When I spoke to owner I asked him if all, shrubs , bushes and hedges were looked at extensively and he said yes, because I have see. On this site with other small dogs that they have been found nestling deep inside a hedge or bush. I cannot get this little dog out of my mind, I am so worried about him. Are you sure he is still not in the Stanley Park hiding somewhere. Xxx
DogLostClaire Gresty - Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - North West
Thanks Doglover, we are contacting local radio and paper today, really hoping they will help us xx will update on here as soon as there is any news xx
Doglover
ClaireG.... what about trying to get a mention on a local Radio Station. There are so many people like me out there that do not do Facebook or Twitter and in my area, when I walk my dogs, so many people that have never heard of Doglost either. I am inEssex, so too far away to help physically, but my spirit is with you all up there in Blackpool. xxx

Steve (owner) is going out this morning and putting posters in this area. His mum lives on Teesdale Avenue, which is very very close to this sighting. Steve visits his mum every day and takes George with him, and although they drive there, he is walked round there all the time and knows the area very well. Fingers and paws crossed today for good news, it's so cold out there for a little old man like him 😞 xx

Thank you Gino.

I have had a long chat with Steve tonight, George's owner. He is very upset as you can imagine. He has been in contact with all local authorities, searched all round Stanley Park and put lots of posters up. He does not use social media but will be checking this site - we really need all the help we can to bring George home where he belongs.

Will share on FB and twitter also, will also send info and advise to owner.

Stay safe little man until you are found xxx
