Well done to everyone involved. The people that take lost/stolen lost dogs not only inflict distress on the dog & owner but also on new owners and all involved. I am so glad it all worked out. She is back where she should be, and, maybe all of you have new extended families now! :-) x

What an amazing story. I'm so pleased for you all. I'm really pleased that Cami's adoptive family were so understanding - it must have been difficult for you all. I glad she's safe and settled back in. What a huge relief. xx

How fantastic that after all this time Cammi's home safe and sound - it gives renewed hope to all those with long lost dogs even after four years missing- chips do work and this sort of ending is the proof.

This is such an amazing story, Ive read it from start to finish, if there ever was a more inspirational story !! Just goes to show, never ever give up. Miracles can and do happen . Annesree you must be overjoyed, I knew exactly what you meant when you said in the early days she was only small but she has left a big hole in our lives. I fostered a JR for only three weeks, not knowing much about the breed at all. It was seriously hard when she went to her new home, she was tiny but had the most enormous personality. It must have been devaststing for you. X

Wow, what an amazing story!!! Well done all involved, "new" owner and vet in particular. So glad she had been well cared for. Are you going to have one of the puppies??? Just shows you should NEVER lose hope when your dog is lost!xxxxx

Annesree, thanks so much for updating us and great to see things have worked out and best of all she recognises you, what a girl. This truly give hope to others still looking and waiting for that most important call. It was great sharing her return and so many people on FB have commented, I will now have pleasure in posting your update. Give the gorgeous Camille a very special hug from everyone on DL. Jan x
Annesree
Hello everyone, Cami spent the last 9 months with a loving family, where she had 5 handsome boy puppies. No-one realised she hadn't been spayed and an entire JRT chap lived there! She jumped into the car and snuggled down on her own blanket. After inspecting the whole garden and renewing acquaintance with her daughter, and introducing herself to her grandchildren, has settled well back at home. Although she had a new name, she did recognize her old name and me! Rather touchingly, the puppies (aged 8weeks) were looked after by their Daddy after Cami left. He looked utterly bereft when we left, as did Cami's adoptive Mom. But we will remain friends on Facebook in future. Thank you to everyone at Doglost who made those early days in particular, more bearable. Xxx

Is she home yet? - did she recognise you? And do you know how long she'd been with the people you collected her from? Did it go smoothly... can't wait to hear the story!

I have to keep checking back here to make sure I am not dreaming and that Cami has actually been found. Now I know for sure as have just received a mobile photo of her in the car on her way home. Yippeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Thats the most amazing news, you should try and get some publicity for the site and the stolen dog issue, I wonder how she ended up so far away, god she could tell some stories. We are so pleased for you!!!

Anne - thank you so much for the phone call. The tears are now drying and I have a smile from ear to ear. Absolutely thrilled for you and, of course, Cami. Will probably be 'travelling' every mile with you when you collect her. Look forward to seeing you very soon and meeting Cami. I will now take great pleasure in removing her rather faded poster from my car! 4 years, 3 months and 5 days later and she will soon be back home with her mum where she belongs. The power of the microchip. Speak soon. Love to you and all your four-legged family. Carole

What wondeful newss Anne - so pleased for you and once again reinforces the importance of chipping pets and 'locking' down the microchip details - cannot wait to see the reunited pictures xx

Brilliant news....just had call from owner...

Cami has been found - way up in the Midlands - thanks to her microchip. The new owner went to the vet to have her checked after she had puppies inserted and the vet found the one she already had. When the owner then tried to change ownership with Petlog, they said she couldn't as the dog had been stolen. And put things in motion. Have to go and get her soon!
BonBon
It's hard to believe that another year has passed and you are still not home. Cami - I still have your picture in my car and look for you wherever I go. Stay safe little one and try to make your way back to your mum one day.

What a shocking response by the Government, nay, The Prime Minister's Office even, to the Dolly's Directive e-petition. It's made me even angrier than the lack of interest shown by the police. They haven't got the point at all. Sigh....... CamiMumLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you Keelah for Countryman's Weekly - I'll look for a copy as our local WHSmith has stopped taking it. Last year's copy is still on my noticeboard. Most of Cami's puppies come to visit regularly which is lovely. They are all so different, but with one thing in common - they are all small like her. Small and feisty - and utterly cute. Update on Phoebe - she was very ill last November, but recovered after stealing and scoffing two of Tesco's Finest chocolate tarts. She still has watchful eyes, is concerned about putting a paw out of place, regularly takes on the water hose in hysterical battle, guards the garden against innocent walkers-by and more than holds her own with the other two. CamiMum xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

NEWBURY SHOW 15/16 SEPTEMBER BonBon and I are going round the show on the morning of the 16th giving out posters of Cami, Boo and Faith. Wish us luck that one of the posters ends up somewhere near one of the dogs! Boo's owner and I are still amazed that people still call us about dogs that look like ours. She had 3 in one week recently and despite following the leads, none turned out to be Boo. The most recent of my calls turned out to be one of Cami's puppies!! She'd escaped, but by the time I called to tell them, she was curled up back at home! CamiMum Anne xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update everyone! Phoebe has had her first vaccination and was quite unconcerned about it all. She was made quite a fuss of at the vet's they all think she's very sweet. Her name/address tag has been ordered, and she'll be m'chipped next visit in two weeks. Vet thought a big jab AND a chip might be one step too many today. Cami's brother Bas has learned not to play 'mind games' with his food. He used to guard it and eat when everyone else had finished. Phoebe gobbles down anything in sight straight away, and so he has learned to eat NOW or regret it! If he even sniffs in the direction of her bowl, she sees him off - he almost loses his nose! The fur under her eyes has almost grown back, and the sore on her neck has healed and the fur is coming back there. Looking forward to seeing a good coat in the next few months. I'm sure that Cami will get along well with her when she returns to the nest. CamiMum Anne xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh thank you for bringing this little girl home - I could not get her out of my mind, she sounded so pathetic. Hi BonBon, Lady would have been a good idea, but my daughter took one look at her and said "Phoebe", so that's who she is now!! Have taken lots of pix so far which show her lounging around as though she owns the place - but she probably picked those thoughts up from the other other two - who know they do!! There's a way to go before her coat has grown again and the sores healed, but to all intents and purposes she's coping OK. CamiMum Anne xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good luck with the police day event. Just wish I was able to attend.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well, long story short, that little dog was about to be shunted off to a rescue centre today - sooooo - I brought her home. We made it to the vet before they closed for the weekend and she had a check up. The vet thinks that the sore bits will heal all right without too much intervention. She's been wormed, de-flea-ed, will have a bath tomorrow and will go back for vaccination and chip in a couple of weeks. She has settled in as though she had always lived here, and while she doesn't look like Cami, she behaves like her!! So, thank you for telling me about her. She will never BE Cami, but we are delighted to have the opportunity to make her life a happy one. CamiMum xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you Angus and Glynafon for your kindness in looking. Cami does indeed have one ear up and the other down much of the time, but as for being trained in obedience - well - doubtful that anyone would describe her that way!! I would be utterly horrified to think that she had been tied up and in a sad way - as indeed you both are. I will follow that up tomorrow and report back here. I went through every terrier on this site during the night last night (could not sleep) trying to match the poor little mite posted below and Camille was the only possibility that came up but was doubtful as it said the found dog had one ear up and one down. However it's worth looking into. This poor dog sounds in a bad way and would love to find it's owner and bring it some happiness. I only hope someone is looking after it in the meantime and also that Camille can be found soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Could be a long shot but there is a tri coloured on www.petsearchuk.org.uk details as follows Female. Approx. 12-18 months old. Tri colour ? wire haired. Larger than normal Jack Russell ? Westie size. She has one ear up and one ear down - looks a bit like the tramp from 'Lady and the tramp' but smaller in size. She was found with a black webbed collar - her coat has been rubbed away but has started to grow again. She has sores under both eyes and a sore where she appears to have been tied up, also sores under her flanks. Previously trained in obedience to a reasonable standard and must have been given affection. Believed she was stolen and tied up for some time. sandie xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi All, Just heard a story from one of Cami's helper friends about a little terrier who was stuck down a hole for over three weeks. A lady out walking heard her barking weakly, and finally found her. Went and got her husband to help and brought dog biscuits along, but she was too weak to eat and her mouth was all caked up from soil. She has survived. The vet said that in such situations the muscles release enough hydration to keep them going - obviously until they lose all moisture. But isn't that a heartwarming story. Never give up! Hi Tracey, Thanks for that. Cami's little puppy was taken for her microchip today, and the vet explained how they do scan the whole body for the chip. I had asked because I knew Cami's had migrated and wanted to be sure that it could be found. I am horrified that the little terrier on 'reunited' has had to be rehomed after 7 days because she's not chipped. Mine aren't allowed off the lead - busy narrow lane precludes - plus knowing the tendency of a JRT to dig it's way to the southern hemisphere given half a chance. They have the run of an enclosed garden which they spend tearing around most of the day. Thinking good thoughts and telling Cami to stay safe for the time being. Anne xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hope the media coverage brings good news for you. Dolly Directive was sent up to petition for all dogs to be scanned-you can print it off from this page & put in Pet Shops & Vets etc. Murphys Law- again was brought in to ensure that any domestic animal involved in RTA was scanned. There are many people on this site that can answer a lot of questions, many of us still shake our heads that basic common sense is not that common but this said you are never alone & even people like myself who are miles away will hope that Camille is return asap. Poster power does work- many dogs are too hot to handle, others have just taken themselves on a hike & return wondering what a ll the fuss was about. Re-check her favorite walks paying attention to any rabbit holes, terriers are notorious for been nosey- stay positve.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone, Despite a little story, and my letter to the editor AND an ad headed REWARD (as has Boo's owner) we've not had even one call. It is disheartening to think that she's not in the area any more. You've all been very supportive and I thank you. The local paper reported the return of a little terrier called Megan on the front page this week. She'd been gone 4 years and was found in Essex having been handed into a petshop. She was scanned prior to being re-homed. Do people actually hand dogs into petshops? If scanners were more readily available, would more animals be re-united with their owners? Do vets routinely scan new patients to their surgeries - even if the owner is known to them? If not, why not? Too many questions. Not enough answers! Thank you all. Anne, make sure you get posters up in the locality, particularly where dogs are walked and where people congregate. Deliver or email the poster to people who are out and about ie postmen, milkmen, dustmen, taxi drivers etc. Email parish and district councilors, scouts, community groups etc etc. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Anne, I've changed the poster as PMd. You need to get Cami's disappearance covered on the news pages. Keelah, our press officer, has contacts in the area. I'll ask her to pass them on. Cami was locked in the house with the other two, we think she heard someone and manipulated the cat flap to get out - she's very feisty and protective. Gone only about 45 minutes, I returned to find the gate to the passageway open. Have searched all around, no-one has seen her, and assume that she was taken. All usual avenues covered and there was an ad in the NWN last Thursday. Will put another this week as well. She's tiny, but she's left a huge hole in our lives.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
