- It has been an emotional roller coaster over the last few days and very exausting but it has all been worth it to see the lovely Herbie home. What an amazing family who showed total dedication and commitment to finding Herbie and followed every bit of advice given by Sammie and myself, if anybody deserved a happy ending they did. Welcome home Herbie we can now all celebrate the New Year with a big smile.

- A big thank you too to all the people in Tidworth who posted or phoned through sightings. The support was emense and provided us with a clear indication of the route he was taking.

- There is a snap shot of him I took in the back of Karens Van on his FB page. The timing of where we were today couldn't have been better.
The family have been brilliant and have done everything they were advised by either Karen or myself to do. They also put in masses of time, staying out all night, parents travelling down from the north with siblings, and ofcourse Karen who has put in loads of hours returning home herself in the early hours of this morning. Although we did set a trap up Herbie was caught soley by Karen with a slip lead this afternoon.

- Sighted in the last ten minutes, owners on the way to that area

- Come on Herbie , Henry is home safe now it's your turn xx

- Karen has been out with Herbie's owners and family most of today. They have seen him and were able to get close but unfortunately other people trying to help in the area scared him off by coming to close and speaking to loudly.
Karen and I both feel Herbie will probably only go to Laura his owner, so once again we can't stress enough if anyone sees him they must not move and only communicate by whispers or text messages. Sudden movement, lound voices etc will all cause him to bolt again. He was so close to be being caught tonight it is a massive shame someone scared him off again. - 2015-12-30 14:45 Heth
- Hi Laura, yesterday we were out walking our dogs also looking for Herbie, when we were near your car,( I assume it was yours with boot open and dog bed in ) from the back of car look left and there is a wood, I heard two little barks, listened but heard no more, dismissed it at time, but I'm wondering if it could have been Herbie, maybe trapped there. Good luck thinking of you.x

- Karen from County Pet Services was there for 3 hours this morning. It is felt that Herbie was seen once when his siblings who have now arrived to help search made lots of noise. The family have been out continously searching. Herbie is likely to bolt away from anyone except his owner or siblings so please stand still and do not approach if you see him (and phone the number listed above and the family can move to that area)Last edited: 2015-12-30 13:50:32 by Sammie

- Skywalker we don't need any further advice from Ray thanks - very experienced team in this area. Just need people not to approach and scare the dog off further.
I think Karen is busy today but I will try and go out later and between us we can set our trap up.Last edited: 2015-12-29 11:00:43 by Sammie - 2015-12-29 08:58 Skywalker99
- Another source of advice if not already contacted is www.raydedicoat.com...assume owner left something with a familiar scent last night?

- I was with Laura (owner) last night till 1am, have given advice and we have a trap ready to go, once again please don't aproach him but report any sightings with times asap, many amazing people out there coming to help and we still need sightings so please keep looking but please keep your distance if seen as he is very scared and we don't want him to move out of the area.

- Herbie's owner has just posted this on Facebook and I am posting it with her permission. Very good news in that he has been sighted, not so good in that he is not coming to her yet, but she is doing all the right things so fingers crossed for a happy outcome very soon:
"HERBIE- STILL NOT HOME. so today has been long and a total roller coaster. Missing from 4pm yesterday, a fleeting pair of eyes in the dark at 9pm last night until 1pm today then the hunt was really on. With totally amazing people as well as other dogs and horses we have had 4 confirmed sightings of Herbie near to gate 17 of Salisbury plain. One of which was by myself, he is seemingly healthy however running scared and didn't even seem to realise it was his mummy calling his name when he took off for cover. However I feel my head and heart are in a far better place for having had eyes on myself. I sat in the quiet and dark for a further 3hours calling/talking and whistling to him but no further joy. I can't thank everyone enough, for all the support and suggestions that have got me this far I will truly be eternally grateful. If Herbie hasn't come out of hiding by mid afternoon my parents who live only 5 miles from me and Herbie in Newcastle will be driving down with Herbies two litter brothers that live with them in the hope they can entice him out.
We have been in touch with a couple of experts at dog tracking and have been given a few pointers, I'm sharing these so we can maximise our resources and time scales. Along with the pointers in the document below we have been asked to advise anyone looking to Herbie to NOT call out his name or whistle for him or try to approach him as if he feels he is being pursued in any way he will move to another area and we desperately need him to stay put. Anyone who does see him then please take a note of where and when and kindly post on this thread please as it is becoming difficult to manage all the many many posts now active. We still need you fantastic folks to be our eyes and ears in as many places as possible so we can get Herbie home out of the cold and wet, his bed looks so big right now with out him in it. Thanks you all, I'll keep you posted xx"
