I think your dog is on the Greenwich borough SDK lost/found dog website.
www.lostdogsuk.co.uk. If you select the found dogs section and then scroll to bottom of page to change the council search to Greenwich borough, you will see Ref RBG-240116-1523 - found in SE9.

I was at Pets at Home and Sainsburys at Bell Green, Sydenham again today but didn't see a single Missing poster for Strika and also nothing on the Pets at Home's customer noticeboard. There may be a reason for this but as it's so very close to Bellingham and with so many customers, it seems a lost opportunity to display Strika's missing poster. Even if Strika's 'new owners' don't use the Pets at Home store (although unlikely as popular, reasonably priced and also offering veterinary and grooming services), other customers may be aware of someone who has a new young puppy Staffie. I can't imagine that they would refuse to display a poster as I've often seen missing posters displayed. Also, it's so very close to Bellingham Park where Strika used to be walked.

Can you get media coverage as there have been no sightings since he was stolen. Wonder why the person who found him thinks the couple who took him are Bellingham locals? It is possible he has been taken out of the County by now x

Was the finder able to give a good description of the couple who claimed Strika as their own dog? For example, white/black, young/old, spoke with local or foreign accents, well dressed/scruffy, etc. Surely, they must be local, to be walking the streets, local to where you live. Have the police got a good description of the couple and also did you also contact your local Ward's Safer Neighbourhood police team as they are community police who would walk around your area.

So sorry to hear that Strika hasn't been found and there's not even been a single lead, apart from what the finder told you. As mentioned in my post on the 13th January, I would strongly suggest that you call DogLost Admin and ask them to contact CJ, DogLost's police coordinator who should be able to advise you what to do, if you spot Strika. Personally, if that were me, I would follow discreetly to see where she may be living. I don't think I would confront them but would report your findings to the police and get them to visit the property. Make sure you carry decent and clear photos of Strika which you can give to the police. Are you checking Gumtree, Pets4Homes! UK Classified, etc on a daily basis? When I went to Pets at Home at Bell Green, I didn't see a missing photo of Strika. I have seen other missing posters displayed on their noticeboard and so I'm sure they are happy to oblige. Personally, that's one of the first places I would visit as very popular and so close to you. I would also ask them to keep a discreet poster behind the tills in case the new owners come into the store, which is highly likely.

Hello everyone, there's still been no update on Strikas whereabouts and no sightings.. The search is becoming draining physically and emotionally. Having to explain to a two year old where her best friend is each morning doesn't make it easier either. This also effects her at school because we have been told she searches her classroom and playground calling him even in the evenings Reminding everyone about his mealtimes etc... Despite that I have reached out to all places suggested I just need to do a few more vets. Will be replastering flyers again tomorrow as some have fallen etc. the search still continues and we haven't given up however ... In need of advice if I'm out in the public and spot alleged couple with Strika and I confirm its him what do I do?

I agree with Rose. It's so VERY important that all vets are contacted (and a poster sent) within a 10 mile radius, if possible because any new owner could take poor Strika along to a vets, claiming to be the owner and get him microchipped with their own details. Of course, there is every possibility that Strika may have been sold on and that the buyer would not know he's someone's stolen dog. Also, I can't help but think about Kiah, the Border Collie (DogLost reference 89855) who went missing at the start of a walk in Beckenham Place Park (her owners lived in BR2) and who was found a month later wandering on her own in Birmingham!!!

Hope this couple who took the dog realise they can be done for 'theft by finding'. Hoping all local vets have been contacted incase this doggy taken in to be m/chipped. Got to make him TOO HOT TO HANDLE. You have stated young adult but the pic looks like a puppy, is this a recent pic of him? x

Pleased to hear that the original finder of Strika is genuine and I'm sorry that I doubted him and his story. It's just that I've been involved with DogLost for very many years (and was a DL area coordinator) and so have heard all the stories going. As promised, I spoke to a work colleague today who lives in Downham and so close to you and who also owns a Staffie and he has promised to keep his ears and eyes open. Two more of my work colleagues also live in your area and so I will tell them tomorrow. I expect you're spending much of your time out and about postering but wondered if you had managed to get to Pets at Home at Bell Green which I presume is very close to where you live. I may be going there tomorrow and so let me know if you want me to speak to the staff (normally a small regular group of decent, helpful staff) and also ask them to display Strika's missing poster. It's quite likely that Strika's 'new owners' might take Strika there to buy food, etc. It may also be a good idea to add under 'Other Info' that the police have been informed of Strika's stolen status and that a Crime Reference Number has been issued. Have you contacted your local Safer Neighbourhoods police team as they tend to walk their patch and know their area well? I know someone whose brother is a PCSO and who works out of Lewisham police station.

Sorry to hear that Strika hasn't been returned by the couple who stole him. I hate to suggest this but are you certain that the two young males who found Strika are genuine and telling the truth as you really do have to be careful these days and question what has been said? I'm pleased to hear that the police are taking the theft of Strika seriously. I'm sorry to nag but I noticed that STOLEN hasn't been added to Strika's missing DogLost poster (following his name). It's very important that local people are aware that Strika has been stolen and, hopefully, will make him more high profile. If you are not able to amend the DogLost poster, please call DogLost and one of the admin team or a coordinator will be happy to help you.

I've reported it to the police the will reach out to the individual who handed over for more information. However he said that the couple had to be Bellingham locals.. Will wait to see what tomorrow's day brings x

Wendy - I'm so sorry to hear that Strika has been stolen. You need to change Strika's details to reflect this i.e. STRIKA - STOLEN. I hope that CJ, DogLost's police co-ordinator can advise you on this development. If she doesn't notice this post, please call DogLost Admin and ask them to contact her on your behalf. Obviously, in light of this information you need to make Strika too hot to handle and you also need the police to issue you with a crime reference number (CRN). Also it's important to check sites such as Gumtree, Preloved, Pet4Homes, UK Classified, etc on at least a twice daily basis. I presume you've got the finders' names and contact details. Were they able to describe the couple who claimed Strika in detail? I hope tomorrow brings about some good news.

UPDATE: Strika was seen and collected by two young males. They waited to see if the owners would appear saw no one and decided to stay put. A couple was walking on the street so they decided to ask and this couple said 'thank you so much for our dog, we're so grateful' so they innocently handed him over because they saw no harm. It was only this evening he noticed my posters and knew something wasnt right. called to confirm and just as he thought he realised he handed over the dog to the wrong owner.. So i guess he's stolen right?

I certainly agree with Rose's suggestion about going to Bellingham Park at first light (if not a bit before) and also after dark when other dog walkers have gone home and that it's nice and quiet. Wendy - do let me know if you need any more numbers as I have all the relevant numbers typed out. And, it's true what Rose has also said, that you need to check with the dog wardens and councils on a daily basis. If you, a family member or friend (who know Strika well) can get to Battersea, it would be a good idea to get there in person, especially as Strika isn't wearing an ID tag or isn't microchipped as, sadly, they have so many lovely Staffies brought in to them on a daily basis.

Going to Bellingham Park early evening or morning could be a good area to look as he might be sheltering there. As he isnt chipped you need to contact DW on daily basis. Did he escape from the garden? Hope you find him very soon x

Any news, sightings or phone calls? Another place to check that missing / frightened dogs find appealing, quiet and safe are local cemeteries. Is there one close to where you live where Strika might be hiding away and keeping a low profile? What park do you normally take him to? Call in to local mini cab or taxi companies, and ask them to display a missing poster in their offices and, perhaps also leave some mini-flyers for the drivers to take out with them and/or for customers to pop into their pockets or handbags. That way, when someone spots Strika, they won't have to return to a missing poster for the contact details. A work colleague walks his own young, friendly Staffie boy in Beckenham Place Park early in the morning and so I will mention Strika to him, when I'm back in work tomorrow.

Surprisingly, very few dogs are injured on our busy roads (they are cleverer than we might think!) but have you called both council's street cleaning departments just to be on the safe side. Also, do you live close to any railway lines? Is Strika taken to a park or open space for his walks? I presume you are postering the area. DogLost normally suggest that you put up around 100+ missing posters for starters. Also, if you contact DogLost admin, they should be able to produce mini flyers (4 to a page), which should be posted through all local doors. Many people, these days, use their cars rather than walk and so may not see the missing posters. Have you called Foxgrove Road vets in Beckenham as they provide emergency cover for many local vets. Their number is 020 8650 2003. They are close to one of the entrances to Beckenham Place Park, just in case Strika has made his way there (not sure of the distance from where you live to Beckenham Place Park).

So sorry to hear that Strika is missing. Did he go missing from home or during a walk? Have you called Lewisham Council's Dog Warden Service and also SDK Environmental dog warden service, which is contracted-out by the London Borough of Bromley as the area that Strika went missing from is covered by two different Councils. And, obviously Battersea Dogs Home need to be called. I live in Beckenham and so not too far away from Bellingham but don't know the area at all. Another place to visit is Pets at Home at Bell Green, Sydenham as, if he is found, the finder may decide to take him there. They also have an area dedicated to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and I am sure that they would display a missing poster as they are all very nice people.
