There was a dog recently reported to have been rescued from the sea, I know it was black, and rescued in the dark, so finders not able to give a great description. They tried to catch him once he reached land but he shot off away from everyone. I will try and find post on Facebook and get more details for you. Not even sure of area.

Thanks for that info AceB. That's good to know. There is always the chance that Mr B was swept along the coastline and that he managed to scramble on to rocks or the cliff or even into any caves along there but I suspect searchs have been made in these areas. Have everything crossed for the lad.

Just to answer a couple of comments, this happened yesterday, the 12th. The Coastguard were tasked at 1138 and the initial team members arrived on scene ten minutes after tasking, once sufficient numbers were on scene an area search took place. More details can be found on Newhaven Coastguard Facebook page.

Thanks Gino. Please would you also send alerts out to BN20, BN25, BN42 and BN43 as it is the coastline that we need to have covered. I fear that Mr B, despite being a strong swimmer, may not have been able to get himself out of the sea but I also know how important it will be for the family to find him whatever the outcome.

I have added the photo that has been shared on Fbkso that alerts can go out. The message on the post put up yesterday from owners family says:
"My Mums dog Mr B sadly got swept out to sea today at the under cliff in Saltdean they were walking in the direction of Peacehaven . The coast guard was called who has advised waiting til low tide. However if anyone sees or hears any thing please could they message me . I have attached some Pictures of him . He is wearing a green collar with the words friendly and he is microchiped . As you can imagine the whole family is so upset"
Searches have been going on since Mr B was lost but no luck with any sightings.
Mr B is on Brighton Dogwatch page and loads of share have been done.
The only hope is that he managed to get out of the sea and is maybe stranded somewhere along the coastline. The first post that I saw was put on at about 4pm and low tide in the area was 6pm and 6pm yesterday. I would think that Mr B was lost sometime early afternoon as it was lovely and sunny then but I can't be sure. I have messaged family members on Fbk but no direct replies yet.
It's very sad but I really am relieved that the owners did not go into the sea to try to get him as they would have put their lives (and anyone who would have gone to rescue them) in grave danger.

That was quick was it you added the photo I sent Gino?

Poo dog! I doubt it will have the energy to fight the sea until low tide, let's hope it gets washed back in.
Rose
Oh no, waiting till low tide, how long to wait for that as it doesnt state what time he was washed out!! x
