- Hello everyone. Update on Riley.... Riley has been found and unfortunately it isnt great news. Riley has passed away, we believe to be hit by a car. She was found in the behind the bush in the garden where we searched and searched a lot for her after she disappeared. So it's possible she came home after being hurt. Want to thanks all for sharing the post in trying to find Riley. We all really appreciate your help and searching for Riley. X
- 2016-01-25 09:07 jess2109
- Thanks Gino, AJ and Zoe. thats really helpful and kind of you.
- 2016-01-22 09:02 Zoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
- Jessica --I hope you don't mind, but I have updated the poster a bit (as per Gino's post)with a few more details. Feel free to add anything else that I have missed. x
- 2016-01-21 21:17 AJ
- I have been out with my dogs at the cross in hand side and I have not seen any poster in this area. You need to get posters outside all the schools. My printer is out of action so unable to print any posters. I have spread the word to other dog owners.
- 2016-01-21 11:38 Gino
- From helper: Hi, I have just seen a poster for a missing female border terrier lost in the heathfield area, East Sussex TN21. Heathfield is a fairly large area so it would be very useful if you could at least mention the area and ideally the road where the dog was lost. Also how was it lost would help. Did it run away, slipped it's lead and was it been microchipped? ( I have a scanner). I walk two GSD dogs regularly in different parts of Heathfield so more information on your posters would be a lot more helpful.
- 2016-01-20 10:32 jess2109
- She didn't have an ID tag on no. Yes I think she got out and believe someone has taken her in now.
Yes I wrote in to as many local papers as I could find and i'm going to keep an eye out for any articles that come about. Thank you Doglover for letting me know about that.
Thank you TK and your daughter, its all a great help in finding Riley. x - 2016-01-19 22:08 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- So sorry to hear Riley is still missing, and no sightings. Im in St Leonards, so not local but my daughter gets the bus from Battle to Heathfield College daily & she is keeping her eyes peeled .. x
- 2016-01-19 14:57 Gina and Timi
- I have done the Pet shop, not sure about the tag, i am sure someone has taken her in, if she was taken from the garden there were two other dogs out with her at the time and they would have taken them as well, i'm guessing she has got out as she has done this before and someone has her. :(
- 2016-01-19 13:46 Zoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
- Gina - thank you so much for all your help. I did see the extra posters this morning when I drove to work:-) I see there is an article in the Sussex Courier on line.....well done Jess, am guessing you sorted that? Might be worth dropping a poster into Mole Countrystore, Windmill Feeds, The Pet Shop in Heathfield. I just wish there was a sighting so that we all had something to work with....at the moment, she could be anywhere. Do we know if Riley had an ID tag on?
- 2016-01-19 11:29 Gina and Timi
- I was approached by two different people saying they saw a woman who had lost a border terrier in the Millenium Woods on Friday and saw the dog wandering in forest on its own, this particular dog is known to do this regularly and eventually comes back.So just to confirm this WAS NOT RILEY, for those of you looking out for Riley i have checked with Riley's owner and Riley is still missing.
- 2016-01-19 11:16 jess2109
- Thank you very much Gina .x
- 2016-01-18 21:15 kjane85
- Well done Gina, on the trail once again!! So far you have 100% success rate so fingers crossed that continues and Riley is I home where she belongs soon.
- 2016-01-18 17:12 Gina and Timi
- I have postered a little more heavily through Heathfield High st and around area Riley lives.
- 2016-01-18 11:24 jess2109
- Hi Doglover, I have written to the Sussex Express this morning with all the details and contact details so I am hoping to have a response soon. I will contact other local papers/magazines that may be able to share this story. Thank you very much for your advice. J x
- 2016-01-18 11:02 Doglover
- JESS you must get local paper involved because if there has been no sightings, then I think someone has found her and kept her without reporting this. Finding a dog and not reporting is class as THeft by Finding..... If in local paper a neighbour or someone known to the person who took her in would get in touch with you. I am praying she is found soon. PLESSE GET PAPER INVOLVED... It works. Xx
- 2016-01-18 10:27 jess2109
- Thank you very much, I'm sure she is - She might turn up out of the blue one day, occasionally I hear those lovely stories when pets are reunited!x
- 2016-01-18 09:54 Gina and Timi
- Well i know which fence that was, not very community spirited. I shall go back and choose a more public post lol ... she must be somewhere and i am sure we will find her Jess xx
- 2016-01-18 08:59 jess2109
- I think dad has been out quite a lot and been searching for her. there is a possibility that she has been taken in now. I hope that she's in a warm place and hoping to be handed in soon. Thank you for the posters being put up. although I did receive a text message from someone telling me their fence is not a notice board... so i hope people aren't just pulling them down! But thank you all so much for helping with the search for Riley. we will continue to search and share the posts. Calling around some places again today to see if any news. Thanks again. x
- 2016-01-17 23:40 Gina and Timi
- Hi Zoe i postered the walk at co-op in the co-op and the stair walk up to high street, also outside bread shop and the other end of Heathfield high street, At the old Post office by Sainsburys, Also covered the cuckoo trail by Waitrose and Gyhll rd and one in Gibraltar Road that leads to where the dog went missing/lives. I will get some more out this week as well.
- 2016-01-17 21:12 Zoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
- I walked Coop woods with Roxie at dusk tonight - no sign. Walked back down Mutton Hall Hill and thru high street....have to say, I didn't see any obvious posters, but it was dark. I think most shops would display a poster if asked so really would be worth asking them. I don't think that Riley was stolen as they have another two dogs, who were out in the garden at the same time and probably would have been more desirable to a thief. She has apparently escaped before and was handed in to the vets. I think it's strange that there has been no sightings though, so would suggest she is stuck somewhere (apparently there is nowhere in the garden that she could have got trapped) or has been picked up.
- 2016-01-17 18:25 kjane85
- Do you think she was taken or do you still think she escaped from the garden? I have walked quite a bit in Heathfield this weekend as will most dog owners, it is strange that there have been no sightings. I am sure you have already done this but going out at night when it is quiet and calling her you would give you more chance of hearing a bark if she was trapped somewhere. I really feel so sorry for you that Riley is missing. Paws and fingers crossed x
- 2016-01-17 11:13 jess2109
- Hi all.
Want to thank you all so so much for all your help with posters and sharing the poster of Riley. We are so grateful. We have let local vets and rescue centre know but I am going o call around again to see if any news has come in. Will also take on your suggestions about media. Will definetly get in contact with uckfield radio station.
I will keep you all updated if we have any news at all about Riley. Again thank you all so much for you help and support with finding Riley. X - 2016-01-17 09:50 jenroseuk
- I put up a poster on the Cuckoo Trail at Horam, you might find the facebook page Lost and found pets, Seaford, Eastbourne and surrounding ... useful as many pets do get found. Hope you find her soon.
- 2016-01-17 01:21 AJ
- It may be a good idea to talk to the local radio station based at uckfield they were really helpful. Please keep positive and keep putting out posters eastbourne is a good place as there are numerous visitors from all parts of the country this time of year. Go to pets at home they are helpful also. Notify garages and all the supermarkets. It may take up a lot of paper and ink but it will be worth it. The more people who are notified the better the chance of getting Riley back
Please let me know if you are out searching tomorrow and I will come and help with my dogs - 2016-01-16 22:21 Sharon - Social Media Volunteer
- I have shared with doglost FB & Twitter. Hope Riley is safely back at home soon. X

- Sorry I have only just seen this. I have emailed our Doglost advice in case it helps.
Thanks Zoe and well done Gina and Timi & to all who are helping and postering. Doglost has a great team in your area jess2109 so you are in good hands and hopefully Riley will be found soon.
Plesase keep us updated jess2109 .. thanks and best of luck with your search. - 2016-01-16 21:34 Doglover
- I was posturing for a dog on here recently that had been missing since 28th Dec. he was also chipped. I suggested to the owner that now was the time to get media coverage ie the local newspaper involved. She did this and the next day she had a call from a lady who, told her that her neighbour had then the dog in. The man found Troy and did not report to Dog Warden..it is the law that you hVe to report a dog if found. I think that someone has found Riley, taken him,in and. Not reported it. GET ONTO YOUR LOCAL PAPER TO DO A STORY.... Add a bit of sentiment to it, they like that and I bet Riley will be found. I live in Essex too far away to help, physically, but I wish you luck. GET THAT STORY IN THE PAPERS. Xxxx
- 2016-01-16 17:07 Gina and Timi
- I have postered all the local dog walks, also in the hight street and cuckoo trail and met people who know about her already via facebook, seems very odd no sightings. I think Jenny and Tiga would be a real help here.
- 2016-01-16 15:09 Skywalker99
- Could Jenny and tiga help www.k9tracker.co.uk would she have been visible to a thief in the garden.in the garden? She has been shared by Brighton Dogwatch (they still haven't shared Nala)Last edited: 2016-01-16 15:11:25 by Skywalker99

- Thanks everyone for postering etc. I am concerned that there has not been one sighting:-( I wonder if she has been stolen? Or, if she has perhaps got stuck somewhere. In or under a garden shed? Shut in an outbuilding or something? There are so many houses surrounding their house that I just don't believe no-one has seen her.
- 2016-01-16 10:33 Gina and Timi
- I am off out postering this morning i will cover all around the walks and down to Horam lets hope everyone out today sun is shinning and someone gives us some news.

- Need to make her TOO HOT TO HANDLE. If she didnt escape from the garden could someone have got in and taken her or did she get out the front door? xLast edited: 2016-01-15 19:34:22 by Rose

- Hi Jess i am printing some posters off now and will put them up in morning, i walk regularly down the woods at co-op. So sorry to hear she is missing i am sure we will find her x We need to get as many posters up as possible word soon spreads and people will look out for her.
- 2016-01-15 16:33 jess2109
- Timi, Fairoak Close, Heathfield, Tn21.
She does know her area really well and is regularly walked in the woods round the back of the Co-op and Cuckoo trail and is walked those areas regularly and would know her way home. Yes have informed local vets in case she is handed in. If she has been taken in, I just hope they see the posts and realise she's being looked for! Have been looking for her but nothing yet.
She is a friendly dog, and not afraid of people. she is approachable and calm too.Last edited: 2016-01-15 16:34:18 by jess2109 - 2016-01-15 16:24 Gina and Timi
- Good to see its on here, can we have exact location she went missing in ... back of `sainsburys where, which road? where does she regularly get walked? and does she know her area well? Have the local vets been informed and dog warden? I'm sure she must have been taken in by someone. Is she a nervous dog or friendly? sorry to ask all these questions but it helps to get a picture.Last edited: 2016-01-15 16:32:43 by Gina and Timi

- Hi Skywalker, unfortunately she escaped from home. The garden is very secure and have searched for places she might have dug or somehow got out and can't find anything. Just hoping for the best. She is chipped so we are hoping she can be handed in to a vets or centre. Thank you for the link.
