Spoken to Russell's owner again tonight and still no word. I saw a similar coated and coloured dog close to Sainsbury's near Heaton Park with a new collar on and not on a lead. By the time my sister in law turned the car around he/she was well gone up Victoria Avenue. Anyone who knows the area will know this is a particularly busy junction as it's close to the motorway. I've been round Heaton Park this evening but no sign. I wasn't close enough to this dog to see if boy or girl however owner is going to have a drive round and investigate. Keep your eyes open and come home Russell - you've been gone for far too long without sight or sound x

I met Russell's owners yesterday and had a chat with them. They used to do home visits and foster dogs until they could find forever homes. As yet there hasn't been any response to Russell's poster and no sightings. His owners had posters everywhere at the Manchester Dogs Home dog show and again people I spoke to are going to check the site for regular updates x

Just spoken to owner re earlier text. I'm not sure if he said he used to run a sanctuary in Ireland or he got Russell from a sanctuary in Ireland. However, he has Russell's brother at home who I'm sure is missing him like crazy. Owner will be attending Manchester Dogs Home dog show this weekend with posters. I'm hoping to rope a few family and friends in for handing out posters etc - if anyone can help please let me know - it would be greatly appreciated x

I received a text from Russell's owner last night stating still no news and they will confirm if they hear anything. Unfortunately, I can't get out and about today because something in my house has sprung a leak and I have water coming through the ceiling in the living room which is really frustrating. I will pick up again tomorrow

I didn't manage to get to Leigh yesterday as my lift fell through due to engine problems - sods law eh?! I've just rang Manchester Evening News back but the person I need to speak to is on his lunch at the moment. I have left my contact details and will hopefully get the rates of ad's this afternoon. jaspbenswood looked in Leigh Dog's Home last Saturday for Russell and there was a poster on the notice board along with other North dogs. If you have got a poster it is still worth checking that they have not taken it down while visiting. Thought he was in Halewood RSPCA as there is a very similar dog but have now compared the pictures the likeness is very uncanny. Jan xxx

I've just had an email off Manchester Evening News - I'm going to contact them again on Monday re posters in paper for Molly, Rahner, Russell and Tilly. I'm just off out round the dogs home and sanctuaries etc i'll post with any news again later on. Vicki xxx

Well I'm really cheesed off - not one acknowledgement to the email's I've sent so far - how flippin annoying - I'll carry on sending them and I'll be down at Manchester Dogs Home, Peggy Henderson's and Leigh Animal Sanctuary on Sunday - once I can rope my dad into being the taxi service for the day

I've emailed Manchester Evening News, GMPTE, ADZ Media, ThinkTank Marketing asking for rates of adverts in papers, back of buses, billboards re Rahner, Tilly, Russell and Lester. I have asked them to contact me tomorrow so I'll be back then with updates. In the meantime I'm going to get on to local businesses etc asking them to put posters in windows of shops etc. Can anyone that drives to work in these area's put a poster in their car window?

I have previously asked Metrolink about advertising on the trams but it was in excess of ?1000 and as much as I'd love to - I just can't afford it. The trams are now going to stop running while maintenance work is being carried out - does anyone think it would be possible to get a poster on the back of a bus that goes round the area? On the back of the tickets? Weekly feature in Metro news (the free paper on public transport)? I'll have a look into it on Sunday and will see what I can find out - in the meantime I'll look into organising the canvassing in town centre.

We have been in touch by email and she is concerned about the number of dogs going missing in this area, so will possibly be willing to get involved here. Sorry I cant make it from Essex

I'll try and do Manc dogs home and Leigh on Sunday - can't on Saturday as I'm in Birmingham with work. I am currently in the process of making myself a contact list for all the places I could poster in between charging round like a mad woman. Would anyone be free at some point next weekend - we could go to Urmston centre with posters and hand out to people walking past - the same with Flixton etc the more of that do it, the more people we make aware - same goes for Tilly - PM me if you can help

Hi jaspbenswood. - Sorry have already done all dog related clubs all over Manchester, see earlier posting, and Jan has done Vets and Libraries, also on an earlier posting of hers. Please do continue to help with whatever else you can find though, there must be loads, we need you. Perhaps equestrian centres , riding schools, stables, walking, and rambling clubs, taxi offices, etc. And would you be able to do Tilly M41 at the same time as Russell please, as they are same sort of area. I travel into work from M14 to M13 everyday, so I will keep my eyes out for Russell on my travels. Will also look in Fog Lane park every night as I usually wallk round there every night - just come back from there, did not see Russell but will keep my eyes peeled for him. Please let the owners know I am thinking of them as we lost our girl mid Feb this year. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.

Spoke to owner they do not have a landline number and are not on the internet. Have asked them to ask friend who registered Russell to check on the site. Posters need to be put up in the area a.s.a.p. lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, petshops, ask postie (go to sorting office), milkmen, binmen, schools, youth clubs, pubs, mcdonalds, dog training clubs and deliver to houses etc. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. Check Police stations and Dog Warden. RSPCA and rescue centres need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Russell. Jan xx
