Sorry it wasn't Amy. I hope the day will come when you find her and she can meet her little 'twin sister' Peggy xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks rescue mum, I've had a look at the picture and it's not Amy, she's a lot paler than that with blue on her muzzle. Thanks so much for thinking of her though and texting me. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just thought I would let you know some good news. My whippet Amy was taken in May. She's sadly still missing but today I adopted the whippet that was found by Hart district council. She could be Amy's twin, she's very pretty and so affectionate but very skinny having been wandering for god knows how long. Hart district council contacted her previous owner (to whom her micro chip was registered). They said that they had sold her in the free ads and didn't know who they had sold her to! Unbelievable! They didn't want her back either, or at least weren't prepared to pay for her kennelling fees. So Hart put her up for rehoming and I'm the lucky person to give her her new home forever. We've called her Peggy. She's settled in so well already. Iris Thompson the head of rehoming at Hart council said that you had asked her for a photo to put on your website, I'll take a couple this weekend and email them to you. She is such a lovely girl, I can't believe that no one would want her. When Amy comes home she will have a friend to play with. Thanks again for all the good work you do. I'm still hoping and praying Amy will come back to me, but this little girl has put a smile on my face again. ......e mail from owner. Welcome to your new home. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately the petlog numbers didn't match. From the description it sounded just like her but sadly it wasn't. :-(Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately the whippet found in Hastings is not Amy. She is apparently quite elderly and I think the owner has been located. Very sad to realise its not her. Thanks again though for your help. Nina xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

NAW you must never give up hope untill you get Amy home. She is looking for you, and cannot find you. You must find her. Please keep ringing all the local rescue centres and the dog wardens in case she gets away, also local vets. Posters need to be put up everywhere continuously, and if they are removed they must be replaced. Poster all local takeaway shops, post offices and onvenience stores. Vets must be kept informed tat she is still missing. Write letters to all the papers covering your area and continuously get this girl on the local radio. The way to get her back is to make her too hot to handle. It has been done before many times, and you can do the same. Have you a travellers liasion officer you can contact? Neighbourhood Watch, etc. Print off flyers to hand out to dog walkers and give to postmen etc. If you need some made up for printing, please PM me, and I will do my best. Come on now, Amy needs to be home with her Mum xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sarah (and everyone else who has mailed, called - thanks so much for the support). Still no news about Amy. We have made friends with some established romany travellers who have been asking around about her but no luck yet. We do suspect the irish travellers nearby but we haven't stopped looking in all avenues. I'm postering all the areas you suggested today. I have to say I am so impressed with this website and service. It's so comforting to know that other people are looking out for Amy too. Thanks again all, will write again soon with any news. Will do my best. It is so easy to say look around Swanley, but there are so many other possibilities - you have to check them all - even Essex - I think I said earlier that this is very close to the M25. Will put a poster in my horse box when I'm out tomorrow and give them out. Horsey people are also doggy people. thinking of you and Amy xxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Marian - As I'm not around this area anymore - please can you liase with the owner to try Edendridge and all the normal places for this area and inform the owner to head towards Edenbridge. I think the police are presumming that dogs often end up this side of kent but we have had alot of experience of these dogs turning up in New Addington and Croydon! I think we should also focus in these areas. I will keep a eye out in the Swanley and Footscray area. Will also look out in St Pauls Cray for any whippets - my lurcher is great for spotting these dogs as they like to run with him. Hope Amy is home soon. If owner wants to speak to anyone about Bromley and surrounding - just call give me call (will pm details across) xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

have also put owner in touch with mikka who lives in the area and has inside knowledge as her search for her dog continues in that area as well. owner has put story in the local paper appealing for information and urging others to be on their guard. this dog is speyed, microchipped and useless at coursing. she cannot travel in vehicles, is NOT housetrained and is a right old chewer. the only person who loves her is her mum so bring her back please!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry. forgot to write a message!! Will take some posters to Edenbridge and have left amessage for owner to ring me -I have experience in this area that I will never forget!! Sadly, we are over endowed in the South East with possible sites and far too many white vans. Good luck xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I will put posters up at our veterinary clinic in St Pauls Cray. We have all the travellers from both Tesco site and star lane come past our clinic and in it. Also we have many clients from Swanley. It is also worth speaking to horse owners as they generally buy and sell horses from travellers and therefore go on to some of these sites. Good luck!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you all for your messages. There are travellers near by but they claim not to have seen her. I have sent pictures to head office, hopefully they will be available soon and I will poster the area. The police tell me that dogs stolen from our area often turn up in Swanley. I would be grateful for any information, we and our other whippet are really missing her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
