- Yes it was lovely to see Storm again and he certainly looks better than last time I saw him.
Good to meet Steve (shame Billy wasn't able to be there) who rescued Storm from the sea that day.
Thanks for your kind words which are so appreciated, but I couldn't have done it without the help of the rest of the Doglost volunteers and all the brilliant dog lovers in Hastings who helped with the search for several days before Storm was found.
I just hope we have managed to get all those posters down! Although I doubt that there's anyone in town who does not know he is safe and sound now!
Still amazed at how much publicity Storms rescue generated! Even the American newspapers got on to it.
Thank you also for the kind donation to Doglost, which I will pass on asap.
I have added a new photo (please refresh the page to see it)
It makes it all worthwhile to have such a happy ending and I agree, it really could have been so different.
Thank you once again :) - 2016-02-11 22:01 Helen
- Hello all, well, what can I say... Again I want to thank all the fantastic people whom helped with the search and rescue of Storm. We all went down to Hastings Lifeboat this afternoon and met some of the coastguard crew and one of the RNLI men whom rescued Storm from the sea. Safe to say that in just a week Storm is recovering really well from what is now quite clearly a near death experience. Today really hit home hard that if not for the hard work of volunteers from this doglost site, storm would not have been known as missing by out townsfolk and subsequently located and then rescued. Clarkey you are one marvellous woman. I don't know what we'd have done without you.

- Hi Helen. I have followed your story from the first announcement of him being lost, to the fantastic news of the rescue and reunion. I do dog massage and healing and would like to offer you a free treatment for Storm, to help in his mental and physical recovery. See my web site, www.caninelife.co.uk. If you want to accept my offer, email me on vslerie@caninrlife.co.uk and I can get the vet permission form etc organised. So pleased to see you all happy again.

- What an amazing story and a wonderful reunion, I`m so glad Storm is now home and safe, he is very lucky to have been rescued from Popes in the first place, he must be a very resilient dog. What a lovely family picture too .. brilliant! The RNLI is one charity I always contribute to when there are any collection boxes, hope I never need them but all brave volunteers who are there when needed. There`s a lot of good folk in this world when all`s said and done, and the doglost community hold some of the best of them! Welcome Home Storm ... stay safe now. I hope the vandals that kicked the fence down can be named and shamed too, without their actions none of this would have taken place ggrrr.. Last edited: 2016-02-06 08:36:54 by LindaT

- Thanks for the update Helen and lovely to hear that Storm is perked up a bit. Not surprising now that he is home with you all and I'm hoping he will continue to improve until he has made a full recovery.
Now you should be able to relax enough to get the first good nights sleep in a long while!
Looking forward to getting your family reunited photo.

- I'm sat her with storm, tears keep welling, the gratitude my family and I have for every person involved in storms search and rescue. So many to name and then there's those of you whom supported Wow! You amazing peopley!! Storm and our family are truly grateful for messages and positivity. I haven't quite gotten by head round just how much love from you all Storm and this family have received throughout the duration Storm was missing and I'm sure they'll be a fair few that stay in contact.
Storm has eaten and drunk little bits but often and he's perked up somewhat thisevening and has even peed niagra falls - twice 😀😀😀😀 all these things are fantastic steps towards the full recovery and we're pretty sure he'll be back down the hills and the beaches for his walks again really soon. New items to get in the doggie basket are a life jacket and hi-vis 😝😝😝 we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. - Thanks for putting the link on Steph. I have just seen it on Meridian Tonight and was quite surprised at how long it was. Nice to see they interviewed Steve of RNLI Hastings Lifeboat.
I'm hoping Lukasz the vet will forgive me for making him 'famous' but he actually got the point across very well! He had been on duty most of the night and was still caring for Storm at 1am! Pity there was no mention of Doglost despite Helen asking them to make sure they said something about us, but hey ho. Just grateful for them doing such a good item.
Two more newspaper articles and we got a mention of Doglost in this one:

I'm just so happy that Storm is home now and reunited with his family who had been particularly worried about him last night and weren't able to sleep.
Storm has still a way to go before he is fully recovered but he will I'm sure be getting loads of tlc from Craig, Helen and the children.
Welcome home Storm, get well soon boy :)

- Helen, Craig, little Penny and I have just come back from the vets and I am delighted to say he has progressed so well today that they took him home!
Storms family and Senlac Vets kindly allowed Meridian TV to film him there so they will probably air their story about him this evening.
It was so lovely to see Storm go home in the car with his family and I'm sure that he will be having lots of tlc from them all. The 2 boys will be so excited and happy to see Storm when they come back from school today :)
I'm sure Helen will give us all an update when she gets a chance but I know she is extremely grateful to all who helped with the search. - 2016-02-05 13:15 NickyB

- Thanks for joining us Leanne.
Update on Storm is that he is still at the vets. He had a bit of a rough night but seems to be steadily improving now. Helen and the family will visit him later and if he is well enough he will go home. Senlac have been brilliant as usual!
Storm is making quite a splash (couldn't resist!) in the media and was on Meridian (a short piece) last night.

- I sincerely hope that Storm is feeling much better today after his ordeal. The RNLI are amazing - what heroes we have! Such happy news at last. I've joined this organisation now as I've been on a couple of dog searches in Hastings but not signed up before. I will share this site with my friends and ask them to join too. If I was in the situation Helen & Craig have been in, I'd want all the help I could get too. x

- Hope Storm is feeling back to his usual self this morning. How lucky he was to have those chaps watching him chase the seagulls into the water and their quick action and that of the Coastguards literally saved his life. What great people, thank you!

- UPDATE:
Storm will be staying at Senlac vets overnight as his temperature is still rather low. They have him on a drip and are giving the very best care.
Storms family went to see him late this afternoon and were glad to see he is making some progress.
Here's hoping the big lad is feeling better tomorrow and that he will be able to go home.
Just one more thing please. We need to take all the posters down if possible. Our Council have never complained about Doglost putting them up and I'd like to keep it that way! It really is one of the best jobs to do!! Thanks :)

- Wow, what a dramatic morning!
Just got back from Helen and Craigs. After hearing the news of his rescue I immediately went up to see them and Storm. He looked so exhausted and was obviously in shock, bless him. Craig and I took him straight to Senlac Vets in Battle who said Storm needed fluids to help him recover as well as heat pads to warm him up etc. So Storm will be there for the rest of the day and overnight if need be. He is in the very best of hands at Senlac and here's hoping for a full recovery.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
So many people to thank!
Firstly massive thanks to Jamie and Charlie of Kier who spotted Storm chasing seagulls on the beach (and then running after them into the sea) It was them who called the Coastguards .. you were brilliant to act so quickly. Without your fast action I am not sure Storm would have made it.
(Thanks to Chris the supervisor E Sx Highways who I gave posters to yday .. it was because of these that the guys knew about Storm!)
Huge, huge thanks to Hastings Coastguards and our magnificient RNLI Hastings crew who did not hesitate to go out to rescue Storm (literally within 5 mins of the call) who was being swept out by the current by the Harbour arm. Please see their page for full description of Storm's rescue. Storms owners and I cannot praise these brave guys enough.
Thanks again to NW who gave the search team the info of Storm being on East Hill yday. Thanks to you we all went over there, with Jenny & Yogi tracking with Craig and the rest of us postering the Old Town area. Thank goodness we did!
Many, many thanks to our Doglost volunteers Springermad, TK and to each and everyone of you who shared (over 1,000 fm this page alone and more than 5000 views of the page!), postered and searched for Storm. We could not have done it without you.
I'm sure I will have left out thanks to someone but believe me Storm's family and myself will be eternally thankful to everyone who cared enough to help us.
It seems the National Press and local press have already got on to the story .. so watch this space for links to any articles published.
Lastly, I can't praise Helen and Craig too much. They have done everything and more to find their boy despite very difficult circumstances. They followed all the Doglost advice I gave them which made all the difference.
I'm sure Helen will put an update on here when they have recovered from the shock of today and the rest of the week!
We will obviously let you know how Storm is getting on when we are told ourselves.
Please refresh the page to see the photos of the rescue.
Welcome home Storm :) (By the way lad, seems you really have stirred up a storm! sorry, just had to say that!! :) )Last edited: 2016-02-04 15:19:19 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-02-04 14:21 Rose

- He's home and quite a story!
Just had a call from Craig - Storm was seen by 2 workmen this morning chasing a seagull into the sea at 9 this morning. Within minutes Storm was a half mile out to sea. Coast guards were called and within 5 minutes arrive and rescued Storm who is back home being warmed up. He is exhausted but otherwise seems ok.
A huge well done to everyone that helped and in particular to the quick thinking workmen and to the Coastguards that were so quickly on the scene. - 2016-02-04 09:09 SpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- Pretty much all entrances to the country park have now been postered. Also the lovely people at the Coast Guard Tea rooms have a poster displayed in their window. Lots of walkers stop there, so that is good. Trish and I spoke to all walkers we met so plenty of people keeping an eye out for Storm. Fingers crossed he will be home shortly.

- Thanks to Jenny, Springermad, Tk and friend who helped with the search, postering and talking to walkers today. Fantastic job by everyone.
Thanks also to the lovely gent (NW) who posted a comment saying he had seen Storm at about lunchtime. That was what started the fresh tracking up on East Hill and everything followed on from that.
I joined the search and then headed off postering the entrance to country park in Barley Lane, gave more to postmen that I spotted, the supervisor of the road crews working in the Old Town/Croft Rd etc and anyone else I saw! Although a lot of people already knew about Storm there were also a lot who didn't (ie not on Fbk) so that's why the posters are so important.
Thanks to the people who put posters into the houses at Tackleway (not sure who that was) and spotted Storm this evening. Great job done by you too.
Loads of posters given to walkers by Jenny and Storms Dad whilst on the trail.
Posters also in Fairlight country park car park. So all in all there are now at least another 100+ out there.
Bit frustrating that Storm was so close but good to know whereabouts he is. However, it's more than possible he is travelling in a loop from the East Hill and back up/down Croft Rd and visiting West Hill where he has also been twice in the early morning. So it's important to keep a look out for him in all those places please!
Thanks again to everyone. You are all doing a fantastic job :)

- Very hopeful and positive. I have my fingers crossed for another visit here soon. But if not, does anyone have a trail camera with night vision that they could lend to the owners? This could be placed at one of the areas that Yogi has identified and provide time of visit and confirmation.
- 2016-02-03 22:12 ALI
- All sounds very promising......literally keep refreshing for updates. X
- 2016-02-03 21:20 Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
- Yogi tracked Storm today and found a cave with a mattress in close to previous sightings. We left a treat in it while Yogi took us on another mission and we found some fresh huge paw prints which were not there earlier - Yogi brought us back down some muddy steps towards the cave which again had fresh huge law prints on. Owner checked on the treat in the cave and it had gone within the hour, so he left another. The plan was to sit with smelly food tonight and while he went home to organise there was a call to report a sighting in the same place as the cave. Unfortunately as the owner returned someone slammed a car door and Storm bolted.
Yogi tracked lots of areas and Storm is clearly staying very close to home but can't quite make it back.
Thank you SpringerMad for all your postering today with your team. Last edited: 2016-02-03 21:24:27 by Jenny & Tiga k9tracker - 2016-02-03 20:08 SpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex

- Tracked all afternoon and we're immensely grateful to jenny and yogi. Storms scent was picked up and Craig, Jenny and yogi came across areas storm has likely roamed and slept.
News just in.......
He's been found in the location we were certain he'd been and the tracking session ended. Storm is in eyesight, found by two ladies out searching the areas. I'm so grateful to them for their help as I am to each and every single person whom even took the time just to pop their heads out the door to look. Craig is on the scene now. I'm hopeful he'll be home soon xxx - 2016-02-03 16:22 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks HowAboutNo. I have passed this info on and spoken to person who saw the dog. Owner and searchers are aware too. Sounds as though it is Storm as they have found a scent. I have everything crossed now!

- Could be nothing, but posted with the last 30 mins on Facebook "Sorry, just seen this, there was an Alsatian type dog 20 minutes ago on the east hill just above tackle way"

- Brilliant .. thanks Springermad!
I went out early this morning and have put some posters up along by Bembrook and added to the ones at West Hill. Spoke to lots of dog walkers and gave them posters too. Apparently Storm was seen up on West Hill yesterday morning about 7am and he headed off towards the West Hill Cafe. I put 2 posters through their door as it's not open till 11am.
Posters are starting to work .. Helen had a call to say that Storm was seen in All Saints Crescent at 11am yesterday so he is having a wander towards the Old Town.
I'm bumping the page for the sightings.
Let's hope today is the day we find this lad. - 2016-02-03 09:45 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex

- HowAboutNo incredibly grateful for this help. Was just about to upload the very same up on here, Thank-you for posting it as soon as you did - Ive been trying to settle our two year old daughter, it's midnight and she's been a little pickle today when storm didn't come home with us earlier when we all went out as a family to search. She can say his name so clearly. It's heartbreaking hearing her calling his name and he doesn't bound up our stairs to play.
Again, we really are thanking each and every person whom reads, shares and even goes to the extent as a fellow dog lover has for me today, from the bottom of our hearts x - 2016-02-02 23:13 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Wow, Storm has now got 1000 shares and nearly 4000 views of this page!
HowAboutNo: That's brilliant, thanks so much. I have been worried that there were not enough posters up but you have done a great job. That's just what we need so that if Storm is seen then people will know who to call.
If anyone does see Storm please remember not to call him as he does not seem to be responding to that.
If you would just try and keep him in your sights and call Helen as quickly as possible please. Thanks.
Come on Storm, show yourself again please so we can get you home. Last edited: 2016-02-02 23:17:52 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex- 2016-02-02 23:00 Sam
- Was out between 7.45 and 9.45, parked up outside the allotments on Collier Rd, tried to get in but fairly sealed, so not sure how likely he is to be in there? Then went down the side to West Hill (sticking posters on the electricity box) and down the steps to Croft Rd.
Put posters all along where the parking spaces are along wooden fences on Croft Road, then snaking down the hills behind the Priscilla MacBean, round the stables, then back on myself. Also checked down the hills and play park on Bembrook Road.
Posted about 5 through random doors on Croft Road, and stuck them to posts on the more 'dog walking' looking bits of the hill.
One through the door of the nursing home, and left about 5 in with the girl behind the bar at The Plough Inn, who said the landlord is a dog lover and would hopefully put in the window, and about 8/10 people behind the bar all had a read and left on the mantle for others. - 2016-02-02 16:59 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Oh that's amazing Helen .. it's funny how things like that happen when you are out looking for lost dogs! Having a dog that Storm may recognise is a great help. It will also be another scent trail that Storm may follow.
Hopefully you have got lots of posters up now so that more sightings will come in to you. Please make sure there is a big poster up at the school as children are good at spotting dogs.
Thanks Springermad .. thanks and yes, you can usually park in Bembrook Road area.
As for remembering your brakes .. please take care Helen!! - 2016-02-02 16:02 gina c
- Have you tried asking at the allotments between the woods and Collier Road in case anyone has seen him?
- 2016-02-02 15:47 Helen
- Croft Road is a narrow slip road and there are Road to park in near by. The woods are not too dense, but I don't think it's an easy walk through them. Craig came home last night completely scratched up. He's been sat in amongst the woods for a couple of hours today and was Searching thismorning before it got busy out and again after all the school runs had calmed down. No sightings yet. Let's hope taking my little girl whom he adores out to call him will coax him out
Storm is probably getting frightened now. He's used to routines. - 2016-02-02 15:42 Helen
- In amongst all the searching and peoples shares, we have found out that one of Storm son's lives feet away, we,(my children, Craig and the nice man that owns storms son) are going to go down to all areas he's been sighted, any areas where food is disposed of etc with storms son with us. Let's hope he comes back to me. Let's hope I remember to put the breaks on the wheelchair when I stop or else I'll be lost in the wood too
- 2016-02-02 13:45 SpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- I have looked on google earth for the woods at croft Road. Are these woods open to the public to walk through? Is there parking? I shall poster that area around the woods tomorrow if he is not back by then. He is not too far from home by the looks of it.

- Thanks Zoe and Ali (and everyone else helping) I was glad to see about the sighting last night, such a shame that Storm seemed to disappear again afterwards but very good to have an idea of his location.
The most important thing to get done is POSTERS. I know your printer is out of ink but they really are so very important.
POSTER POWER works.
They are the way that you will get those sightings of Storm which are so vital.
Please concentrate on getting them done so that everyone, including those not on Facebook, will know that he is missing.
Hoping that Storm shows himself again very soon.

- So sorry your gorgeous boy is missing but am glad that you have some current sightings. I'm not local enough to poster but if there is another sighting and you need an extra pair of hands to try to catch then please let me know. I'm afraid I'm a sucker for a GSD. x
- 2016-02-01 22:25 ALI
- Email received, info coming up on Facebook that he's been sighted and are trying to coax him out of the woods. Happy to take a wander round if this lovely lad is still missing. Sounds like you doing everything you can to bring him home
- 2016-02-01 22:19 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Yes Helen. Have a look at the advice I sent you. Idea is to try and keep Storm in the area with scent articles. Probably best to do the quiet approach with some smelly food etc and scent trail.
- 2016-02-01 22:04 Skywalker99
- Yes, something with a familiar scent is good...ring doglost and ask for advice
- 2016-02-01 21:54 Helen
- Storm has been seem down Croft Road tonight. He ran off into the woods and hasn't come out to my husbands calls and searches. I'm thinking that maybe his bowl with his food clinking about might bring him out of there? Someone suggested that I take a blanket that smells of him down there too. Lay it out somewhere quite and wait.....?

- Sighting of Storm tonight .. Croft Road.
If anyone sees him please try to keep him in sight and call Helen as quickly as possible. Many thanks. - 2016-02-01 21:17 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Wow .. over 660 shares already and more than 2300 views of Storms page.
Thanks so much to everyone who has shared the link and who is keeping a look out for Storm.
I have just had a chat with Helen (thanks for the search info) and she says no sightings of Storm since early this morning.
He seems to be staying quite close to home at the moment and that's good but he's probably hiding when people are around so is more likely to be seen when it's quiet (late evenings or in the early hours)
If anyone spots him please text or call owners asap (even late or early) We need to find out exactly where he is.
Just keep doing what you are Helen and try to get as many posters up as possible. If you need help with that just ask on this page.
Come on Storm .. show yourself please.

- I walk my own gsd in St Helens Wood, Hastings Country Park and Guestling Woods, so will definitely be looking out for your boy. I have told everyone I know around here who walk dogs locally to do the same and directed them to this page, so I'm sure between all of us, you will be re-united. I will put a poster up in St Helens Wood, because it's pretty close to where he lives, he could well be sheltering somewhere in there perhaps. Good luck!
- 2016-02-01 19:27 Helen
- There have been no other sightings since this morning. We have been searching the areas of;
WEST HILL, PLYNLIMMON ROAD, ALPINE ROAD, EMMANUEL ROAD, VICARIDGE ROAD, ST.GEORGES ROAD, ST.THOMAS'S ROAD, COLLIER ROAD, CROFT ROAD, WHITEFRIARS ROAD, BEMBROOKE ROAD AND ALL OF PRIORY ROAD. - 2016-02-01 19:15 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks for that info Helen. It always helps to have some insight into a dogs character when we are searching for them. Please remember that most dogs are far more resilient than we think they are so he should be fine even if he is lost for the moment. Be assured we will support and offer as much advice as we can to help you find Storm.
Will you let us know exactly where posters have been put up please and what areas have been searched. .. and as soon as you hear of a sighting then please let us know. I can bump this page for an sightings.

- He's more woman and child dog than a man's. (I personally think he's had a prior bad experience with man before we took him on in June 2015) he was pope's farm's stud dog up until easter last year and lived outside in kennels. Hence why he's not a dog that approaches people and this is why I ask that people please check open sheds/garages etc, whilst calling his name in an happy friendly - almost excited pitch. This he really responds to. He loves knowing he's being good. He laps up praise and he'll definitely likes to play any game with a ball. Over the course of the months we have had him, we have retrained and changed many things like his diet. He was being fed raw meats, tripes and chicken carcus. Now he eats whole food biscuits mix and loves a treat or two. (Xmas he didn't know what a chew show was and flipped it round the lounge playing hahaha). He would lay in his own urine and poop, now he knows that it's not right and he rather prefers a lovely bed he's got and the outside house he has for summer. Storm is a great part of our lives - my life especially, he understands me. He's with me all the time and I know he's understanding of my inability to walk very far and he stays with me when. I've fallen. Please contact with any information. He's been logged with all vets in and around Hastings, as have the wardens and the missing dog sits on the Internet too.

- Hi, Thank-you all for you're help. I received a message thismorning to say that a dog that could possibly have been Storm over the west hill (going towards the bottom of the hill) at approximately 07:45 I've heard and had no other sightings as of yet.
- 2016-02-01 13:48 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks everyone. We are going to need lots of help on this one as Helen the owner is wheelchair bound. Husband is searching as much as poss though.
Seen that a dog like Storm was seen on West Hill this morning 7.45am but he ran off further down the hill after sight.
If anyone is able to put posters up it would really help. Thanks.
PS Please would owners make sure that all local vets know about Storm and his microchip. Last edited: 2016-02-01 13:59:35 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-02-01 10:37 Rose

- I have spoken to Storms owners and have been trying to help them tonight. I have sent out our Doglost advice emails.
Storm lives in Priory Rd and the garden fence was kicked down by vandals and Storm ran off.
Shortly afterwards he was seen in St. Thomas's Road but no sign of him afterwards.
I understand that Storm is quite a timid dog and is not the type of dog to approach people as he was a rescue dog. He is wary of strangers so please call one of the numbers on this page if you see him.
Owners have done everything right and the Dog Wardens are already aware of Storm being lost.
Am hoping that Storm will find his way home by the morning.
Very best of luck.
