No it's not live. There is one train which usually goes up and down mid week. If he is near the line, then I doubt he would have survived this long out in these conditions :-( Am more concerned about the river. Especially now as there have been no sightings :-(Last edited: 2016-02-08 10:46:46 by setterville

Is the railway track live. If so has somebody contacted them? Poor boy hope he is found very soon x
setterville
Yes have been asking people to check corners etc. It's unlikely he will be able to get into gardens, because there is a steep climb, a fence and a railway track before you reach any houses. Myself and a friend went on to check out every little possible hidey hole this morning but no sightings at all, and nobody locally has reported any sightings either which is very worrying.
DogLostOwl
Setterville, please would you make sure people check behind garages and sheds in area he went missing? A door to door flyer drop asking people to check around outhouses is useful. Ancient dogs can get themselves tucked away in odd places, and behind sheds is a favourite.

Sorry some misleading info on earlier posts. Have changed postcode back to SA18...apologies to those helpers that received alerts for CF postcodes....but please do share anyway.

I think he's made a mistake and left an m out. He's used the Welsh spelling of Glanamman which is Cwmamman because the dog is definitely missing from the Garnant/Glanamman vicinity, I walked with the owner this morning.
Geoff Davies (who posts as Gruffydd) and this is where we were. Thanks everyone for sharing.Last edited: 2016-02-07 20:57:31 by setterville

I have shared with doglost FB & Twitter. Hope Bertie is safely back at home soon. X

So sounds like Glanamman not Cwmaman then! The person posting is Gruffydd Davies, is this the owner? If so, could he be asked to amend his post as shares will be going to the wrong place?

This is the Facebook post of the dog saying missing https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=951159588303106&set=o.357634327646698&type=3&theater
says "Lost in Cwmaman on the Riverside Walk 6th February 14 Year old Irish Setter" which is a different area? Area for that one is approx Cwmaman, Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taff CF44 Could this be clarified please which is the correct location. xLast edited: 2016-02-07 19:07:53 by Sarah

Definitely SA18. He was lost on the river side walk which runs from Garnant to Glanamman. According to the owner, he crossed the river from the Folan Road direction, followed the river towards Glanamman, when he got to the bridge which is not far from Star Animal Feeds he noticed Bertie had gone. Please circulate this information far and wide. If somebody hasn't picked Bertie up and looking after him, then I hold out very little hope that we will find this poor old soul alive.

Bertie needs to be found urgently .Please help look for him if you are in the area .

We have got some posters on the go now. Owner tells me that the dog is incontinent and has bowel problems, therefore if someone is holding onto him then they will have discovered this by now. I have already contacted local vets, so if anyone presents him there, hopefully the vet will realize and make contact.

If you have jot got a printer just get some A4 paper for now and write in big with details of your dog, this will do for now. But some local shops and maybe a library will hVe a printer or stationers perhaps.

A lot of walkers are out there searching for Bertie but no sightings. We really need some posters around the area. If anyone has a printer please can you help. So far nobody seems to have a printer, or one which is working.

I haven't got a printer to do any posters, and neither has a friend who is out looking. Is there anyone in this area who has a printer who can help us get some posters going please?

Sorry to see that BERTIE is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (98238)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
